  1. M2 Medicare levy surcharge - Number of days not liable for surcharge:

    Can this be automated to an extent based on the Income for Surcharge Purposes field that is automatically filled? Have been caught out a number of times where the Xero defaults to 365 days not liable, however the threshold is exceeded due to combination of spouse income.

  2. We have the AS' downloaded from ATO automatically and this creates a new job for every AS. We then need to add an AS task to every job individually.

    Would be great to be able to add task/s to multiple jobs in one go - similar to how you can assign staff/manager to multiple jobs in one go.

  3. Change Capacity under Settings/Practice to allow for Saturday and Sunday so that on the Dashboard for Time Summary the time entered on Saturday and Sunday shows and is reflected in the Productivity circle on the Dashboard

  5. On the first page where you can select to have comparative or only current year showing, option to tick and apply to all reports – would be handy for first year clients where they don’t have comparatives, instead of updating on every report

    Sorry Zoe, just trying to understand the page you're referring to here - When you say 'on the first page', is this within a specific report that you're running at present? 

    Are there particular reports you'd find most useful to add comparatives too? Thanks

  6. Would be great if we could update fields in one go for multiple entities across a group (similar to how the address field allows you to). For example, the Partner, Manager, Class, etc is generally the same across the group (how we use it), so it would be good if we could update these sections for everyone in the group in one go (even if we need to access one of the entity profiles, and from there it asks if we want to update the other entities as well).

  7. Would be good if there was an option to reorder the pages in a tax return, primarily to be able to bring the tax estimate to the front page of the tax return as that tends to be the key information the client wants to see and it is buried at page 3 or 4 of the tax return when printed.

  8. Currently, there’s no functionality in Xero Practice Manager to edit job names in bulk. This would be an extremely useful function for us. For example, we have a large number of Client Services jobs which need updating and without a bulk update function we need to do this manually, job by job which takes far too long.

  10. Xero Tax currently allows adding notes only on the cover page (character limit of 140) and on D1 (motor vehicle expense).

    It would be great if we could add explanatory notes (and simple calculations) on each of the line items if need be. I moved from Sage Handisoft to Xero and can't comprehend why such a useful and simple feature is not there in Xero. It would reduce the burden of creating additional workpapers for simple returns and will be handy even for the complex ones.

  12. Just a simple one, but it has something I've spoken to many Xero account managers over the years.

    When preparing a tax return, you currently see an amount payable or amount refundable in text, and the dollar amount in bold black next to it.

    I feel that it would be a simple, yet positive change, to have the dollar value display in green when there is an amount refundable, or red when there is an amount payable. The colour system ensures that there can never been any mistake when quickly glancing at the dollar amount, for instance, when doing a…

  14. Have come across Xero "feature" of auto filling the account code on a bill, however the code Xero put in had nothing to do with the expense and never has been. The ability to switch this feature off so clients have to actually look for the correct code would be beneficial.

    Hey Lyn, thanks for suggesting this idea!


    Xero will use your defaults accounts for a supplier or the inventory item to assign a pre-selected account code to the bill you've created. You can read a bit more about that here.


    Just to clarify, is this the feature you're referring to? If so, it's possible to disable this by not entering in defaults for the items or contacts in question 😊

  17. Bulk edit milestones
    I am trying to utilise the Important Dates page in the Job Manager and there is older jobs that are clogging up the page with overdue milestones that no longer apply. How to I remove all of these in a bulk process? There is over 3000 milestones that need to be removed. Currently support has told me there is no way of doing this apart from deleting each milestone on each job one by one.

  18. When the ATO rejects a submission (where the return does not need to be edited), we have to unlock the return. This removes it from the document pack, and the client gets notified.
    This a terrible customer experience, when we just need to relodge. Example being tax returns lodged on 15 May.

  19. When a client uploads or emails a file to the Xero files area of their own subscription, it would be helpful if we, as their accountants, could receive a notification to let us know there is a file waiting for us.
    This should be an optional setting, perhaps even with limits (eg notify me for every 5 files uploaded).
