  1. Have an ATO account link to be able to reconcile the Xero account for the ATO Activity Acount and respective ATO Income Tax Account - and if relevant FBT account, etc.

    While the idea is clear and well-articulated, the request for a direct "link" to the ATO constitutes a request for a third-party integration, which is explicitly listed as a quality that disqualifies an idea from proceeding to the "Existing Functionality" or "Gaining Support" classifications.

  2. One of the best features in MyWorkpapers is the Excel online integration. When we upload a working paper or source document, it automatically opens in Excel Online, allowing us to use templates such as GST reconciliations or borrowing cost schedules directly within the platform. Any updates made to the spreadsheet save automatically and remain linked to the file, making the process far more efficient than attaching Excel files manually.     Thanks for this feedback, everyone. Instead you could use a live link and attach it as a URL. This way you can always open it via the link and any changes are still reflected when you click into the link in future.

    We'll be continuing to add functionality to the spreadsheet within the workpaper itself.

  4. When preparing Journals, I've repeatedly found a bug where it gives the warning that "Debit and Credit totals must match", and won't let you save the draft journal even though the debit and credit totals do match. I have to then cancel the journal and start again, which is especially frustrating when preparing large journals.

  5. We need the ability to be able to see which accounts have changed when we refresh the data as the work flow at the moment makes it more cumbersome for example:

    • preparer drafts manual journals > marks as ready for review
    • reviewer reviews and says everything looks good ok to post manual journals
    • preparer posts manual journals and updates the status of everything to ready to review as they go and then when they refresh everything goes back to rework required

    The scenario you’ve described—where refreshing the data causes items to revert to “Rework Required” after they’ve already been posted and reviewed—suggests that something in the workflow isn’t behaving as intended.

    Because this appears to be unexpected product behavior (rather than a feature request), it doesn’t meet the criteria for a new idea and is instead classified as Feedback.

    Next Steps

    Since the issue directly affects your workflow and may indicate a bug or design flaw, it should be raised with Xero Support so they can investigate.

    Please contact Support and include:

    • The specific report you’re using
    • The exact steps taken by both the preparer and reviewer
    • When the “Refresh” action is triggered and how the status changes
    • Details of the manual journals involved, if possible

    This will help the support team review the refresh/status behaviour and ensure everything is working as designed.

  6. We link to workpapers in Sharepoint but as we are using the new workpapers we have noticed that some URL links work fine while others show a "404 Not Found" error despite it being correct.

    Not sure but it may be due to the link being a PDF.
