WhatsApp Invoice Sending Integration for Xero
Product Idea: WhatsApp Invoice Sending Integration for Xero
Many small business owners—particularly those in mobile or service-based industries such as maintenance, repairs, and on-site services—primarily communicate with their clients via WhatsApp rather than email.
Currently, when using Xero, these users need to:
• Generate an invoice
• Download the PDF
• Open WhatsApp
• Manually attach and send the invoice to the client
This process is time-consuming and inefficient, especially for business owners who are constantly on the move and may not have immediate access to a client’s email address.
Proposed Feature:
Introduce a “Send via WhatsApp” option within Xero (both mobile app and desktop), similar to the existing email functionality.
How it would work:
• When an invoice is created, users can select “Send via WhatsApp”
• The system opens WhatsApp (or WhatsApp Business API integration)
• The invoice PDF is automatically attached
• A pre-filled message (customizable template) is included
• The user selects or enters the client’s phone number and sends instantly
Key Benefits:
• Efficiency: Eliminates multiple manual steps
• Mobile-first convenience: Ideal for on-the-go business owners
• Higher engagement: Clients are more likely to view WhatsApp messages than emails
• Better cash flow: Faster invoice delivery can lead to quicker payments
• Real-world relevance: Aligns with how small businesses actually communicate today
• Summary:
A WhatsApp invoice-sending feature would significantly improve usability for Xero’s small business user base by aligning the platform with modern, mobile-first communication habits. This would streamline workflows, reduce admin friction, and enhance overall user experience.
