Invoicing - Option to format contact names as 'Surname, First Name' on sales invoices
Can we have the ability to automatically have each sales invoice shown as surname first, followed by their first name. Instead of the manual task of having to go into their contact details and changing this manually. In our business (as I am sure many other businesses also do) we reference our customers by surname for their jobs.
We appreciate you raising this idea, Julie. Having the ability to choose how customer names are displayed on invoice list could make it easier to meet different business, cultural, or regional naming preferences.
We've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support while we continue monitoring community interest.
Currently, the name shown on an invoice reflects the contact name saved in Xero. If required, you can edit the contact name so it displays in your preferred order.
Your votes and feedback help us understand how valuable configurable name formatting could be.

Yes, that is correct. All our jobs work with a customer's surname. Otherwise, at a quick glance looking in "All Sales" (that we refer to often), we might have listed 50 Michael's, 20 Sarah's etc. It's less common having multiple duplicate surnames than a first name. Coming from Myob where a customer surname is first, it just seems obvious in accounting to list in order, first a customer's surname and last their first name.
