New invoicing - show account column after saving
I've noticed in the new invoicing that the account column disappears when it is saved. While I don't want the account column shown on the actual invoice, I use this saved version in Xero to check that the correct account has been selected. I will not switch to new invoicing until this option is available as it would be extra time to edit the invoice to see which account was selected. Classic invoicing is a much better experience in my opinion.
69 votesThanks for staying tuned with us through the idea, here. As you may have seen when recently invoicing, we've released a new line item grid when the invoice is saved, and in view mode.
Along with other enhancements this encompasses moving details into their own columns including the Account column. We appreciate your feedback and sharing on how this change could improve the experience for you.

Invoicing | Billable expense include Item Code and details
Please keep the current feature of adding item codes to billable expenses so that the preset charge out rate and account pulls through. In the new system adding an item code wipes out the billable expense.
26 votesHi community, thanks for sharing back with us on the flow through of information for Billable expenses.
Our product team have implemented a change, and you should now find that when you add a billable expense related to an inventory item, and select to add the items to your invoice the item code will be shown.
If you're finding this is not the case for you it would be best for our Xero Support specialists to take a closer look at things with you 1-1 - you can touch base with them through Xero Central.

New invoicing | Billable Expense - Reorder Columns & Horizontal Scroll
In the new invoicing version, when selecting the billable expenses, I can't see the date and the supplier in one view. In order to see the date, I need to scroll to the bottom of the pop-up screen, then scroll across to the right, then try to scroll up to find the line item. I then can't see the supplier to know if that is the correct line to add. Sometimes there are 30+ billable expenses for the one client and I can't see the dates to know if I'm selecting the correct ones.
Have the date as the first…
17 votesThanks again for your feedback and sharing pain-points about adding billable expenses within an invoice. As you may have recently noticed we've released a few changes to this window to improve your experience.
We've re-ordered columns, added pagination and adjusted some of the column widths to make it much simpler to find, select and add billable expenses to an invoice.

Pre-Defined NET Payment Terms for Invoice Due Date
Most businesses use certain payment terms, like NET 30, NET 45, NET 60, NET 90 days. When invoicing businesses with different payment terms, there should be a faster way to calculate the due date, rather than asking Google "45 days from today" or "60 days from today" and entering that as the due date.
It would be great to create pre-defined NET payment terms as part of the Due Date dropdown in Invoices. That way it would instantly adjust the due date based on the payment term selected for that invoice.
Yes, there is a way to set a default…
6 votesHi team, while the pre-defined list of dates aren't selectable options, you can use the date entry shortcuts to quickly calculate the due date based on the Invoice date. For example to select 30 days from the invoice date you'd simple enter +30 or +30d in the due date field.
We have all the shortcuts listed in this Xero Central article

New Invoicing - Allow to type the Bank Account in 'Add Payment' screen
KEYBOARD ACCESS IN ALL FIELDS IS CRITICAL
Xero users know how a keyboard works and I'm sure many find its use preferential to having to continuously move a hand to the mouse to engage dropdown menus. This needs to be available in all areas of Xero.3 votesHi team, from the payments window when you're on the Account field if you press 'Enter' on your keyboard this will open the field. From here you can type to search and select the bank you'd like.

New invoicing - Ability to enter +0 for due date
New Invoicing - Due Date: entering +0 currently records the due date as 7 days from invoice date. This feature is useful when due date is same as invoice date. All other numbers work (eg +5, +6, +7 etc) but +0 does not. Please fix this.
23 votesHi everyone, we appreciate your patience while we worked on developing shortcuts into new invoicing.
We have now released an update and you'll find you can use the same shortcuts you used to in classic such as +0 or 't'. Thanks for all your feedback on this here.

New Invoicing - Ability to remove tracking using keyboard
We use two tracking category's depending on which country the transaction relates to, the category options are the projects in that country, if a tracking option has been added to the wrong category on an invoice and you need to remove it you can't leave the category blank, on the old invoices and other areas of Xero you have (none) under the category options which you can choose if it is to be blank but this option is not there on the new invoicing
4 votesHey everyone, thanks again for suggesting this. Good news – the new line item grid is live for everyone now.
With this update, getting rid of tracking is way easier. You can just hit backspace and tab through the fields, or we've also popped in a 'No tracking' option in the dropdown. We appreciate your feedback through product ideas – it really helps!

New Invoicing - one click tracking fill from contact default
On classic invoicing, when you click the account category space or the tracking category it would fill in from the contact default, or account default or some default. But on new invoicing it only fills in if you tab.
12 votesThanks everyone, I’m pleased to share that this change is now fully rolled out.
You'll be able to easily update repeated details across multiple rows of your invoice by dragging the contents of a field up or down a column, or by using keyboard navigation.
This feature is available on invoices, quotes, purchase orders, sales credit notes, and when editing bills in quick view. 😊
Just click the blue dot in the bottom-right corner of a cell and drag up or down the column. If you like to use the keyboard, hold Shift on a cell and use the up or down arrows to select cells, then press Enter.
We appreciate your feedback with us here in Xero Product Ideas.

New invoicing - View full list of inventory items
It is most annoying and time consuming to only be able to access half of the inventory items when raising an invoice. Instead one has to look up every item in the second half of the inventory, line by line before you can add it to an invoice. This is a step into the dark ages.
23 votesHi everyone, I'm pleased to share that the new line item grid is now available to all orgs.
We know being able to see more of your inventory items is important and with the new grid we've expanded the number of items that you can see from 50 to 100.
For majority of orgs this means you'll now be able to view your full list of inventory. We understand there are some orgs that have many more items, but want to be honest that we don't intend to increase this amount further. Thank you for all contributions and support you've shared with us, here.

Brand Templates - Interactive
Ability to create invoice templates interactively via Xero rather than through a word (.Docx) file.
This would allow ease when creating invoice templates for myself as well as clients
4 votesThanks for the feedback we've received here, community. As you may have come across we have now rolled out a new standard branding with our invoice template editor.
As requested here this experience is much more interactive, and allows you to visually see changes and how these will appear to your customers on invoices you send them.
While this is only available for invoices atm, we intend to develop this experience for all documents that can be sent from your organisation. 😊

New Invoicing - Quick find Address
Having "quick find" on the billing address when entering a new contact through an invoice.
50 votesHi community, we appreciate your ongoing engagement with us through the idea here. We've now released updates to the ‘Contact’ field within new invoicing - With the changes we’ve made, you can now look up and quickly find a contact delivery or billing address as you’ve been requesting. Other improvements we’ve made include; being able to enter more address lines, and an Attention to for each address on the fly.
Thank you for sharing with us through product ideas, here.

New invoicing - Reduce size of text
URGENT!!!! The new invoicing is quiet frustrating. It doesn't remember past settings when emailing the invoices. So now I need to remember EVERYTIME I send an invoice to click 'send me a copy', which I know I'm going to forget especially if I'm in a rush.
ANNOYING!!!! There's an added step now to attach a pdf. I now need to click add files then drag the pdf, instead of simply dragging it and clicking to send with invoice or not.
It would be good if the Save & Close button had and 'Email for Approval'. I email invoices (unapproved). Once…
12 votesHi team, recently we have released a new line item grid in invoicing and you will find there are a few updates the team have made to improve visibility. We've optimised the padding, text size and columns width to make this more compact so you can see more detail without the need to scroll.
We value your contributions and thank you for sharing with us through this idea.

Invoice - Set due date to 28 days
Please can you include an option on the invoices for payment due date -28 days. We have an option for 7 and 14 days but the majority of our invoices are 28 days from invoice date.
1 voteThis is possible from within the Invoice Settings page, Emily 😊 From here there is an option to set Invoice due date based on days after the invoice date, where you can enter a number anywhere between 0 - 99.

Invoicing - Sending Invoices by SMS
ADD SMS OPTION TO SEND INVOICE VIA SMS. LOT OF PEOPLE SEND VIA IPHONE OR IPAD ECT
58 votesHi everyone, thanks for continuing to check in with us here.
Sending invoices via SMS is now available in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US.
Being open we don't have plans at this point for expanding this functionality to other regions.
Looking at the location of many users that have voted for this feature we'll shift this idea to Completed, however you are welcome to create a new idea if you'd like to see this feature in another region outside what's available.
Taking on board feedback from comments here I also wanted to surface a few other ideas we have for SMS;
- Send statements via SMS
- Sending Invoice reminders via SMS
- Quotes - Send quotes via SMS
- Invoices - Customisable SMS templates
- Contacts - Send invoices and statements through WhatsApp
Please do add your votes where appropriate so we can gauge the demand for each of these functionalities…

Ability to mark multiple invoices as paid at the same time. Bulk Payments on invoices.
We often get cheques or direct deposits from companies that are covering 5-10 different invoices. CSV functionality would be overkill for what I need.
Right now I have to go into each invoice and mark them all separately as paid, and put a note that cites the total deposit amount so that we can keep track of the bank transactions.
On the customer's invoice page, I would like to be able to click a checkbox button for the invoices that are included on the cheque, and mark them as paid under one transaction.
With this check box functionality, you could…
2 votesHi team, it sounds like batch deposits would meet your needs here. From the Awaiting payments list view you could select up to 50 invoices to batch together as one payment. When the cheque or deposit appears in your account you could then just select the one transaction to reconcile.
While you can only batch 50 invoices at a time, you may like to add your vote and support on this idea, Peter. It's not something we have in planned development atm but if there's any change we'll update you all there.

New invoicing - "Add billable expenses" not available
Previously we were able to "Add billable expenses" to a "Copy to draft invoice". However, this feature is no longer available/showing up as an option when creating the draft invoice. Instead I have to save the invoice as a draft and re-open, then I'm able to add the billable expense.
6 votesHi team, thank you for your feedback and sharing about this with us here. I can confirm our team recently released a change to fix the issue some users were experiencing like you've described here where the Add billable expenses option was not appearing.
You should now see this appear when creating an invoice for a contact that a billable expense has been assigned to. If you do continue to experience any issues with this, please do raise a case with our Xero Support team who have tools to be able to investigate and escalate with our product team if needed. Thanks

New Invoicing - Reduce lag in items column and change pop up message location
Reduce the lag in items column when searching, it takes too long to search, sometimes up to 4secs! Please also change the location of the pop up message "default contacts have been applied", as when I start a new invoice the pop up message appears in the bottom left, but I'm trying to look at my contact info and enter items. The pop up box lingers too long and covers the information I need to read! This is frustrating every time when creating multiple invoices and I have to "x" the pop up message away each time, which then causes…
11 votesHi team, rounding back to the idea here since our last post we have released a few different changes across the platform that will have improved the experience for those that were noticing lags when entering data in their invoices.
As a start we released a new optimised line item grid, where among other changes we updated the Item field so you could view and select from more of your inventory items without needing to search.
We have now also made some enhancements to speed up autosave of your invoices meaning these save faster - see more on the latest changes from the long and short of it.
Now if you are continuing to experience any issues when working in your invoices, we do want to hear from you - however to ensure we can get the right details to investigate and escalate with our product teams, please raise…

Sales | Branding - Include ContactAccountNumber merge field on invoices (and credit notes)
Allow the contact's account number <ContactAccountNumber> to be included on Branding Theme invoices (and other documents).
The <ContactAccountNumber> is allowed to be included on system default invoices.
5 votesHi community, rounding back to share that 'Account Number' can now be selected and shown on invoices using the new Standard Invoice template editor. 🙂
From the customer details section simply make sure you have this field turned on to show on your invoices. You'll be able to see the change in realtime and how this will appear to your customer.

Invoicing - Receive Deposits on future sales before raising an Invoice
Record deposits on a quote or future invoice sale without raising the invoice value against a customer.
We manufacture a product and then install for a customer - with a deposit of either 50/50% or 30/30/30/10% at the point of approved sale. We are happy to create an invoice number but with a deposit on each sale this creates a "negative balance" and we do not want to create a sale until the final invoice has been agreed at installation. ie. a negative receivable.
2 votesHi David, depending on how you need the deposit amount shown on the customer statement you could record these amounts as either Overpayments or Prepayments that would be applied to the customers invoice once created at a later date.

New invoicing | Allow pasting tracking categories
Sometimes I need to add the same tracking category to multiple lines of the invoice. CLASSIC invoice allowed me to simply paste the category in the box and that's it. NEW invoicing now requires me to CLICK after pasting which doubles the amount of time I'd need comparing to CLASSIC. Please bring that possibility back - OR, EVEN BETTER, maybe let us drag the options to apply them to cells below (like it's done in Excel).
2 votesHi everyone, we're delighted to announce that the new line item grid is now available to all users. This update incorporates several enhancements based on valuable customer feedback, and includes resolving your suggestion, here.
With the new grid, you can now easily copy & paste tracking information between cells, using 'Tab' to navigate to the next cell efficiently. While the drag-and-drop functionality isn't currently available, this has been raised as a related idea, which you're welcome to support. We'll provide updates on its progress if any arise.
Thank you for your continued input through product ideas – your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve Xero."
