AU Payroll - Timesheet Notes More Visible
The new drop down buttons for notes only allow to view 1 day at a time rather than all notes for the working week. The (previous) classic version had the notes as regular text, just like the start and end hours, and therefore all the days notes were visible and printable for the week. I need the employees notes of their work activities for compliance and legal reasons
Please
1) remove the drop down notes and go back to displaying them all as regular text, or
2) have a tickbox to display all notes at once or
3) Include notes in the 'Timesheet Detail Report' as for what ever reason there is no option to include it there.
It seems the timesheet notes have been downgraded and forgotten about.

Option to Choose Employee Timesheet Print Layout (Classic vs New)
The July 2026 update to the employee timesheet print layout has significantly impacted our business workflow.
Prior to July 2026, employee notes entered through Xero Me were displayed directly on the printed timesheet. This allowed us to quickly identify where an employee worked on each shift without having to open every individual note.
Since the update, the printed timesheet only displays "View Notes" instead of the actual note. While this may suit some businesses, it has created a major administrative burden for organisations like ours.
Our nurses regularly work across multiple hospitals and for multiple cardiologists within the same pay period. At the end of each fortnight, we must send copies of each employee's timesheet to the relevant doctors so they can verify the hours worked for their individual clinics before payroll is processed.
Under the previous layout, the employee notes clearly identified the hospital or clinic for each shift, making this process quick and efficient. Under the new layout, we must now open every single note for every shift, for every employee, to determine which doctor each shift belongs to before we can prepare and distribute the timesheets. This has transformed what was once a simple task into a very time-consuming and labour-intensive process.
Proposed Solution
Rather than replacing the previous layout entirely, please provide users with the option to choose their preferred timesheet display format.
For example:
Classic View (Pre-July 2026) – Employee notes displayed directly on the printed timesheet.
New View (July 2026 onwards) – Employee notes displayed as "View Notes".Alternatively, a simple toggle or checkbox such as "Display employee notes on printed timesheets" would achieve the same outcome.
This would allow businesses to choose the format that best supports their workflow while retaining the benefits of the new layout for those who prefer it.
The previous format worked exceptionally well for businesses that rely on employee notes to identify job locations, departments, projects, or clients. Providing users with a choice would be a simple enhancement that caters for a much broader range of business requirements without taking functionality away from anyone.
I have attached PDF examples showing the June 2026 and July 2026 timesheet layouts for comparison, demonstrating how this seemingly small change has had a significant operational impact on our business.
If others are experiencing the same issue, I would greatly appreciate your support by voting for this idea so it can be considered for implementation.
