User Role | Invoice Only Users: Ability to remove and amend invoice amounts
Hi Xero.
Currently, User's with Invoice Only Access can only approve invoices and bills. However they are unable to remove a payment (or part thereof) from an invoice.
This is a problem if the User accepts a payment, then realises that there is an error on the invoice, as they are then unable to remove the amount and fix the invoice.
It would be great if these User's could have this ability without having access to the business bank accounts

It would be even easier if you didn't have to remove a payment to edit an invoice! You could simply adjust the invoice and possibly get a warning if for example this resulted in an overpayment.

This is the exact same problem we have. Can’t understand why user permissions make such a jump between permissions. It is either access to next to nothing to almost everything. Per original User Role-Enhancement post, our sales team need to have more access to the one category they are currently assigned in order to be able to conclude their work; they are all quite frustrated at being reliant on other colleagues when they want to take care of their own work themselves.

We'd love to see this happen. I want to provide my sales staff access to clients' invoices to view and chase, without allowing them to see any financial data or make any other changes.

We are encountering a limitation within the current user roles that is hindering our Sales team’s efficiency in managing customer accounts.
The Issue:
The existing 'Sales (Invoice Only)' role does not provide the necessary permission for sales staff to amend, edit, or delete payments applied to invoices. This is critical for adjusting client balances quickly during the sales and collection cycle.
The only alternative role grants full access, including Purchases/Accounts Payable, which we cannot provide to the Sales team due to internal control policies.
The Request:
To ensure our Sales staff can manage the revenue process without accessing sensitive financial data, we require the creation of a customized user profile that allows:
Full access to Sales & Invoices (create, amend, edit, delete).
Full rights to apply, edit, or remove payments against customer invoices.
NO access whatsoever to the Purchases module, Bank Accounts, or General Ledger entries.
Could you please confirm if you can create this granular, customized profile for our sales users?

yes, so important, can't understand this is not available. What is point of giving them Invoice access only if they can make updates; or introduce another level to facilitate this without opening up access to entire platform.

This Invoice Only role is very problematic. There certainly needs to be a role that can manage AR/AP but NOT view bank accounts and reports, but this person should be able to do all the necessary pieces of their job. When a client contests an invoice that's paid via ACH (GoCardless), the AR person should be able to manage Remove & Redo and voiding the invoice if necessary. Also, we learned they can't match the Direct Debit forms to link Xero contacts with GoCardless contacts. These pieces need to be added to the Invoice Only role, or it makes limited permissions extremely difficult to manage.
