Subject: JAX sends incomplete messages when typing in Japanese (IME Enter key issue)
Summary
In the JAX chat panel, pressing Enter sends the message immediately. For users typing in Japanese, Chinese, or Korean, Enter is also used to confirm character conversion in the input method editor (IME). As a result, JAX sends my message the moment I confirm a word, often in the middle of a sentence.
Steps to reproduce
Open JAX in Xero.
Switch the keyboard to a Japanese IME (macOS or Windows).
Type a sentence and press Enter to confirm the kana-to-kanji conversion.
The partial, unfinished text is sent to JAX immediately.
Expected behavior
Pressing Enter to confirm an IME conversion should not send the message. A message should only be sent when Enter is pressed after the composition is complete, or via a dedicated send action.
Suggested fix
Ignore Enter keydown events while IME composition is active (event.isComposing === true, or keyCode 229).
Optionally, add a setting to send with Ctrl/Cmd + Enter instead of Enter.
Impact
This makes JAX very difficult to use for anyone writing in a language that relies on an IME. Every conversion risks sending a fragment, which wastes queries and produces irrelevant answers. Xero positions itself as a global platform, and JAX should work reliably for non-English users. Support for Japanese, Chinese, and Korean input is a basic expectation for a global product, and I hope this can be fixed soon.
Environment
Product: Xero JAX (Beta)
Input language: Japanese IME
