Xero Tax (UK) - Make available to businesses, not only to Partners
Ability to have Xero Tax for businesses, not only for Partners
Thanks for everyone's continued support and feedback on this idea.
We’re pleased to share that eligible UK small businesses can now purchase and complete Company Accounts and Tax directly in Xero. The new paid add-on supports preparing FRS 105 micro-entity accounts and a CT600 corporation tax return, then filing the accounts to Companies House and the return to HMRC.
Because the figures flow directly from your Xero organisation, you can complete the process in one connected journey without re-typing data into separate government forms. It also includes full and filleted accounts, PDFs, adjustments, locking and tax journal syncing.
This provides a simpler way for businesses with straightforward affairs to stay compliant following the closure of CATO, while businesses with more complex needs can continue working with an adviser. Learn more in our Company Accounts and Tax update and see our pricing page for more information on this add-on.
Thanks again for helping us shape this capability.

I signed up to Xero because I thought I would be able to work out my earnings and tax information so this could go strait to tax office

I agree that Xero for business should have the Xero Tax functionality. As a lot of SME companies have inhouse accountants who won't be Xero partners. So these companies need to source another software to file CT return which adds money and time to these companies. Xero is an excellent system but this might be pushing factor to move to different system.

I agree, shouldn't gate keep things that are completely fine for non- bookkeeper/accountants to complete.
Also, what if a larger company employs a bookkeeper/accountant rather than using a partner!?

I completely agree with this suggestion.

I think users should be able to use the personal tax element of Xero Tax, so that when MTD ITSA comes into play they are able to submit their own returns. for some clients, we do their company accounts, but they do their own self assessment and if they will be affected personally by MTD ITSA then this will be necessary.

I think this should be open to all users. The small businesses can benefit immensely with this.

Our business is small, we don't need any accountant to File Accounts for us we can do it on our own so atleast Xero must need to give an access to small businesses regardless of Xero partner so that they can easily file their accounts with HMRC smoothly.

I am a growing business and being able to track investment and tax allowances is crucial. I need to be able to understand the importance of things like annual investment allowances, first year allowances and zero emissions vehicle corporation tax allowances in advance, as they drive my business model.

I am doing my Xero accounts and tax myself (I do have the necessary training and experience) so Xero Tax would be a welcome addition to the subscription (even if it were an additional (annual) fee).
I don't see a reason for having to go through a partner as indeed already mentioned by others they just charge a significant fee for something that is already available. Equally I am responsible for signing in the end my company income tax either done by myself or the Xero Partner and therefore in my case the Xero Partner does not add any value for me. -

I would love to be able to have Xero Tax for the business I work for. Happy to register as a partner, but don't want to have to make up a company I don't have, for one "client" who is my employer. I'm a chartered accountant, so fully qualified to do the tax returns, just hindered by the software.

Of course that for someone like Simon Jones, who is a Xero Partner, it would be better to defend their end than to suggest better ideas to develop what Xero is already doing.
Considering I have contacted several Xero Partners to do the accounts for my small company, and their quotes, even though most of their work is already done in Xero, are similar to any other accountant that does not work with Xero.
And I can say this comfortably, as I have another company with an accountant (not Xero Partner) working for me.So their quotes are simply ridiculous and they are taking advantage of both Xero and small companies.
Also, according to your comment, then doing VAT returns would be a nightmare, which is not.

Interesting commercial challenge! I can see how this would work well for companies with capable finance departments, but a number of my clients would "want to have a go" and then stuff it up, as to complete the CT600 properly for anything but the most basic company a reasonable level of detailed tax knowledge is needed and doing year end accounts "correctly" requires a certain minimum level of knowledge too. As a Xero Partner I'd probably bill more helping clients sort out their filing issues than from just doing it for them!

Should be able to file company accounts and tax returns without having to go through Xero Tex Partner. As a small business it's very important that we have the ability to do this as we're not using external accountants.

Hi, I want to know if I can do tax filing (corporation tax) from the Xero accounting software. If yes, how much do I need to pay to upgrade the service?

There are many businesses not using external accountants to file Corporation Tax Computations and Xero should enable this functionality or businesses will go elsewhere

Xero is a great software to have and this really would make it better. The ability to file company accounts and tax returns is critical for my business and given that the functionality already exists (but is restricted to Xero Tax partners, then it should be relatively easy to roll it out to business owners too. Thanks.

If Xero is already dealing with the VAT side of taxation under HMRC rules, why not also cover the submission of yearly accounts?
Xero has all the details needed for this, and missing data could be inputted directly by the Xero user if needed. -

To allow businesses access to Xero Tax to be able to submit own Corporation Tax & Ixbrl tagging and filing with Companies House.

Businesses to have the functionality to submit their accounts directly to companies house and HMRC rather than through an accountancy provider or partner. This will support businesses who have in house accounting and finance functions already.
