Hi everyone, we've got a bit of an update we'd like to share with you all here.

Some of you may have already seen, following the closure of CATO, we’re launching a new simple accounts production & tax solution for small businesses. This'll be available as a paid annual add-on from August 2026.

With this solution you’ll be able to file your micro company accounts and corporation tax returns directly to HMRC from inside Xero, using data from your organisation in one simple flow.

The feature doesn’t replace the more powerful, flexible tools you use with your accountant or bookkeeper. If your advisor files on your behalf, nothing changes.

This solution is for small business owners handling their own corporation tax, this means less time wrestling with separate tools and a simpler, more streamlined way to stay compliant.

If your tax needs get more complicated or you need more support, we encourage you to use our Advisor directory to connect with an advisor.

Hi everyone, thank you for your continued input and feedback through this idea. Since my last update as some may have seen we have announced a new plan Xero Simple designed to support non VAT registered sole traders and landlords, as they prepare for the next phase of Making Tax Digital. And, that MTD IT will be available for all Xero business plans – see more on my update here ( https://productideas.xero.com/forums/940636/suggestions/45931501 ).

While we understand the desire from small businesses in Xero Tax for the UK, our intention is for this to remain a Partner only feature. We’d highly recommend connecting with a Xero adviser ( https://www.xero.com/uk/advisors/ ) if this is a tool you’d like to make use of.

Hi community, we appreciate the continued attention this idea is receiving. While our team will continue to review this idea, Xero Tax remains a Partner only product with tools and capabilities that help Xero Partners serve their clients with ease, and we don’t have immediate intentions of changing this. Again, we’d like to encourage that if you’re not currently connected to a Xero Partner you can find one that can serve your advisor needs through our Advisor Directory ( https://www.xero.com/uk/advisors/ ). If there is any change planned we will update you of this, here.

Hi everyone, though appreciative of the idea. This is a function available through the Xero Tax Product with a Xero advisor, and we don’t have plans for developing this capability from within a Xero organisation.

You can find an advisor to suit your full business needs through Advisor Connect ( https://advisorconnect.xero.com/search-for-advisors ).

Xero is a great software to have and this really would make it better. The ability to file company accounts and tax returns is critical for my business and given that the functionality already exists (but is restricted to Xero Tax partners, then it should be relatively easy to roll it out to business owners too. Thanks.

If Xero is already dealing with the VAT side of taxation under HMRC rules, why not also cover the submission of yearly accounts?
Xero has all the details needed for this, and missing data could be inputted directly by the Xero user if needed.

To allow businesses access to Xero Tax to be able to submit own Corporation Tax & Ixbrl tagging and filing with Companies House.

Businesses to have the functionality to submit their accounts directly to companies house and HMRC rather than through an accountancy provider or partner. This will support businesses who have in house accounting and finance functions already.

It would be handy if Xero could generate CT600 report (UK). This would allow small business to submit their Companies Tax calculations more smoothly.
