Xero Tax (UK) | CT600E For Charities
As 'Blue Xero' supports a 'Not for Profit' organisation, it disappointing that an accompanying
CT600 cannot be produced in Xero Tax for a charity.

After full adapting Xero since last year, I have realised Xero is not as cost effective as it was said it would be. Because of these deficiancies like charity accouts and CT600 addditionally forenign conpany or foreign brance corporation tax can not be filed via Xero and therefore we have keep Sage and other software subscription. Making prosess complicated and expensive.

Being able to prepare charity accounts in Xero would be an excellent step forwards. Now that all accounts need to be filed with Companies House via software, and that there are a lot of company charities, Xero is going to miss out on a slice of the market as accountants will get set up with alternative software instead.

Agree. The general lack of recognition of the charitable sector as a sector - and therefore worthy of integrated software solutions - is frustrating.

I'm planning to use Xero software for a newly registered charity but reading this thread making me worried - should I go for it or not?
This should be added as a priority.

Yes, it must be dealt with immediately, especially when Xero does market itself for charities and non-profits but it does not full functionality for SORP-compliant reporting requires manual adjustments or external tools.

As an FCCA practitioner acting for small charities and community organisations, I recently encountered this issue while preparing a charity Corporation Tax return requiring the CT600E supplement.
HMRC withdrew its own free CT600 filing facility and advised taxpayers to obtain suitable commercial software. However, Xero Support has confirmed that CT600E is not currently supported. As a result, I was forced to purchase additional specialist software solely to meet the filing requirements of a very small community charity.
This issue has become part of wider correspondence with HMRC, the Administrative Burdens Advisory Board (ABAB), and my Member of Parliament regarding the practical accessibility and proportionality of charity filing requirements.
Given Xero's strong presence in the charity and not-for-profit sector, I believe CT600E support should be treated as a priority. The current position leaves charities and their advisers maintaining additional software purely to satisfy a compliance requirement.

I agree. We really need this if we are to support our charity clients within Xero and keep costs to a minimum.

I agree with Sharon - with HMRC closing their free software how are Xero users to service their clients is there is no functionality to file specialist reports such as charities and farming accounts?

With HMRC closing their free software I have to have the facility to submit this return by 2026 if I am to continue using Xero for 4 of my existing clients

My team find Xero brilliant, if Xero does not include this we may have to look at another alternative to be able to submit corp tax online after the end of March 2026. It seems counter intuative for Xero not to introduce this, it is really important and if it isn't done it could mean that Xero lose a lot of customers.

With other software companies offering charity and not-for-profit accounts and tax returns, it makes no sense whatsoever for Xero NOT to be doing this as well. I don't want to have to use Xero for this and say QBO for that, I want to be able to use Xero for everything!!

With the closer of HMRC's online Corporation Tax Return service on 31 March 2026, this has become a matter of some importance.

Feels a little like being left high and dry - support had no solution for me to file the CT600e, just directed me here, not exactly satisfactory - it does feel like Xero roll out new features with much fanfare but less substance

Can XERO add the functionality of enabling the addition of CT600E for a CASC to the tax return process please.
