  1. We have noted that on the payment schedule of a tax return, when a payment is made that is more than the due amount for that date, the rest of the payment shows under the next payment date. Rather than showing the total amount under the one payment date. Is it possible we can have it so the full payment is just showing under the one payment date?

I do understand this requires traction before action, however - worth an ask.

  2. For notes made in Tax Payments: these need to be split into 2 areas, (1) notes pertaining to that provisional installment and, (2) notes that will continue to roll forward.

It is crucial that even if the installment date has passed, the notes are still visible. Also from the main Tax Payments screen we need an indicator on the client row to show that the client has an active note (with the ability to archive a note as well).

  3. IRD are asking us for details of our rental expenses - I would like the Residential and Commercial Rental schedules to accompany the tax return when filing with IRD - I can not imagine anyone wanting to do this manually.

  4. Overseas Borrower Student Loan repayments have different payment dates (30 September and 31 March), there is currently no functionality within Xero Tax (NZ) to manage these payments. I understand it is not possible for the system to calculate the repayment amounts as these are determined based on the loan balance, but if there could be an override amount like for Provisional Tax that would be useful, instead of having to track these borrowers manually.

  6. When sending tax payment letters out via email it would be great to get an email if the address used is invalid. Like a bounce-back when you send an email from your usual email program. At the moment you have no idea if the client received the tax payment letter at all.

  7. To have a column in the return screen that shows the detail of the tax return (e.g. estimated tax payable / refundable and / or the Taxable Income amount).

Purpose: To make the accountant easily review the tax summary returned.
