Supplier Credit Limits
I was just wondering why there is only a space for a sales credit limit and not a purchases credit limit?

use existing company contact details for a new company
Copy Contact Details from an existing contact when adding a new contact
I would like to be able to copy an existing contact's details and then change the company name. I have customers who have multiple companies all registered at the same address with the same contact details and terms.

Contacts - Include Contact ID in CSV Export
FINTECH requires Xero’s Contact ID for integration, but the Contact ID isn’t included in the contact export. They must be manually copied from the URL, which is slow and error prone.
11 votesHi Marcia thanks for raising this here, we can understand how including the contact ID would be a great addition to the export feature in Contacts.

Contacts & Invoices — Stop blank email greetings: use the customer name without entering it twice
I just entered my customer’s name to create an invoice. Why does the invoice email still say “Hello,” with no name?
Creating a contact directly from an invoice makes this especially frustrating:
Enter “John Doe” in the invoice’s Contact field.
Select “Create ‘John Doe’ as a new contact.”
Add their email in the contact details panel.
Send an invoice using a template with [Contact First Name]—and the greeting has no name.
The reason? That placeholder uses the separate Primary person → First name field, not the Contact name you just entered. The invoice’s contact panel doesn’t even show the Primary…

attention
When I enter an invoice for a new client, I think it would be a good idea for the ATTENTION TO field be set up so that it adds that field automatically into the saved contacts. When the invoice is finished and I preview it, I have to retype (or repaste) the client's name. It would be nice to not have to create a new contact with all the fields filled out and then make an invoice. In short, change ATTENTION TO field in the invoice entry to CUSTOMER FIRST and CUSTOMER LAST AND then link those two fields to…

Contacts - Display Group membership in main Contact list view
Be able to see a list of contacts, showing which groups each contact belongs to at a glance. Who are donors, who are equine related, who attend camp, which are organizations/business/church, who take lessons

merge
Add contact merge functionality in Xero Partner Hub
Currently, there is no way to merge duplicate contacts in Xero Partner Hub. When duplicates are identified, they must be manually deleted, and any client associations tied to the deleted contact then need to be manually reassigned. This is a time-consuming process, particularly when dealing with a large number of duplicates.
A merge function would allow users to combine duplicate contacts into a single record, automatically consolidating client associations and history. This would save significant time and reduce the risk of losing important contact-client relationships.

Contacts - Link sent Customer Statements from Activity History
Customer statements to show on the contacts tab when sent - I can see in history & notes on the file tab on a contact that a statement was sent but it would be great if it was possible to click a link here to see the statement that was sent to the customer (rather ticking to send statement to own e-mail)

Contact Statements - Export statements to CSV and filter statement lines by Reference
Allow printing/ downloading of client contact statements via a CSV file not only PDF files. Also allow for filtering statements based on the Reference description before a statement is downloaded.
1 voteThanks for taking the time to suggest this. A filterable CSV export from Customer Statements could make it much easier to provide clients with only the transactions relevant to a particular reference.
I’ve updated the status to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. If this is something you’d use, add your vote and let us know what statement fields or filters you’d want included.

Contacts - Default cursor to search
I'd just like the cursor to already be IN the search field when I open Contacts please.
Thanks29 votesWe understand why this idea is quickly gaining traction. Being able to start typing in the search bar as soon as the contacts page loads would be a small but meaningful improvement.
Right now, the cursor doesn’t land in the search bar by default, so it’s an extra click each time.
This idea's now in the Gaining Support stage. If it’s something that would make a difference to your workflow, adding your vote or comment helps us understand the wider demand—and gives our product team more to work with when prioritising updates.
We’ll post here with any changes or progress.

Contact - Bulk edit email and contact details at the Contact Group level
Add global email & contact details to Groups: a settings panel that can be applied according to an optional 'tick' on each contact. The reason: any email changes for a business may mean trawling through several individual contacts to update one email address.
This could be done so much quicker by the above modification by allowing for the edit of the 'collective info' panel and saving so it updates all contacts in that group that are set to use the 'default values' in the panel.
This tick option would allow for individual records within a group to still retain their…1 voteThanks for sharing your feedback here. Being able to update contact details across a group from a central location could save time and reduce the risk of individual records becoming inconsistent.

Contacts - Automatically apply a surcharge percentage to specific client profiles for invoices and quotes
for continually tardy payers, the option to automatically add a percentage to the account/client profile is extremely handy. this would automatically calculate to all invoices and even quotes. I can do this in another programme I use [FRESH], and it is a way to re-coup some cost if you are continually chasing money from the same client.
1 voteThanks for raising this suggestion, Robyn. The request is to have a client-specific surcharge percentage that automatically applies when creating invoices or quotes for that contact.
This could make managing additional charges for customers with specific billing arrangements much simpler, without needing to add the percentage manually each time.
I’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can continue gathering feedback. If this would be useful, add your vote and share how you’d like the surcharge to work.

Contacts - Add Charity Registration numbers field
As a national charity supporting member organisations that are charities, it would be really useful if we could add Charity registration numbers to contact information. This is probably going to be more important now that the Charitable Incorporated Organisation has been introduced in the UK. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/charity-types-how-to-choose-a-structure-cc22a#types-of-charity-structure
It would also potentially be useful for businesses that are supplying services to charities as if would provide a way of prompting them to consider whether they should charge a lower rate of VAT where VAT legislation enables them to do so https://www.gov.uk/vat-charities/what-qualifies-for-relief
2 votesAppreciate your suggestion here, John. We can understand how having a dedicated Charity Registration Number field on contact records could make it easier to maintain accurate information and support compliance requirements.

Contacts - Display all credit notes on the Activity tab
To restore the ability to see credit notes on the activity tab within a contact record irrespective of whether it has been refunded/allocated. Not having this functionality makes it time consuming to check whether credit notes have been created/received by other users and whether the contact record is therefore up to date
1 voteThanks for sharing this idea. We understand the request for all credit notes to remain visible on the Contact Activity tab, including those that have been allocated or refunded.
Having the full credit note history available from the contact record could make it easier to review past activity without switching to the invoices or bills lists.
I’ve updated the status to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. If this would improve your workflow, add your vote and let us know how you’d use it.

Contact - Ability to select email group when sending invoices/statements
Instead of manually adding/removing email addresses when sending invoices via Xero, being able to select a contact group to send them to.
For example, for one of my clients, when I send an invoice from Xero I need to CC 5 different internal people and would rather be able to select a group instead of entering them individually.
Being able to select a group would be less time consuming for us, and look less clunky for their customer.
2 votesHi Suzanna, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand that having a quicker way to send invoices and statements to groups of contacts could help make billing workflows more efficient.
The suggestion is to allow users to select contact groups directly when sending invoices or statements, instead of manually adding individual recipients each time.
For now, adding additional recipients to contact records can help ensure the right people receive communications. We’ll continue tracking this idea here so the community can share feedback and examples to help shape future improvements.

Contacts - Bulk Archive option if inactive for an extended time

Contacts - Retain historic name in system prior to effective date
Allow customer's company and/or contact name changed as of an effective date. Retain original customer's company and/or contact name prior to effective date and future business is recorded post effective date with new customer's company and/or contact name.
5 votesHi Bruce, Thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. We appreciate hearing how adding an effective date would be beneficial when you don't want the changes to affect the existing transactions. We'll move this idea to gain more support from the community. Cheers

Contact - Add a 'Bad Debtor' status flag with invoicing alerts
Would be great to be able to assign a special rate to a particular client so that rate generates each time you invoice that client and also add tick box to mark as bad debtor which flags them up.
5 votesHi Denise, thanks for sharing this idea! We can see how a “Bad Debtor” flag could be a really useful tool for managing risk. When your business is busy, you don’t want to accidentally extend credit to a customer who’s already significantly overdue.
Right now, the absence of an automated alert means staff often have to double-check a customer’s payment history or risk raising an invoice for someone who should be on a stop-credit list.
As a short-term option, you can use the Contact Notes field. Adding a note to a contact makes it visible when viewing their details, though it doesn’t yet “pop up” during invoicing.
Regarding your idea on default rates, you can already assign a default discount rate to contact records. You can also use the Untrack Items feature to make data entry faster and reduce manual effort.

Adding a Statement TAB to Contacts
Dear Xero Team,
It would be very helpful to have a separate "Statement" tab for each contact to upload statements received from suppliers or contractors for accounts payable.
I recommend adding this tab under the existing Contacts section, alongside the current tabs for Bills, Purchase Orders, Receive Money, and Spend Money.
Kind regards,
Marilie Lessing
2 votesCurrently, it's possible to upload files to a Contact record, Merillie. It sounds like this may be a suitable place to be able to upload your statements received?
