Thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you.

We've reviewed your idea to show the Trial Balance by category and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it.

In the meantime, did you know that you can group the Trial Balance by 'Account Class' or 'Account Type'? Whilst not the exact functionality requested, these options allow you to split the accounts up within the report.

Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

  2. The ATO are pushing hard to collect debt, and as Accountants we want to keep a finger on the pulse of amounts owing to the ATO for our clients.

At this point in time, i am not aware of a report we can generate through the ATO portal which tells us ALL the debt which is owed by our clients, across all their accounts, Tax, GST, Super etc.

Yes there is an integrated debt report we can run, but it only shows the ICA debt. By accident if someone has an ICA debt and a tax debt both will appear…

Hi Richard, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand how having a report that shows a client's total ATO debt in one place could make it easier for practices to monitor outstanding tax obligations and prepare for client conversations.

We'll keep on monitoring the interest on this idea. If this is something you'd like to see, please keep voting and let us know what information you'd like to be included in this report.

  3. In Cash Flow Manager (Reporting / Cash Flow Manager), once a Projected Recurring Cash In/Out amount has been entered, you cannot edit the date that it is received/paid in the cash flow.

You can edit the start- and end-date for recurrence, but the date it is received/paid is locked to the date set when you first added the Projected Recurring Cash In/Out amount.

Please allow the date that the amount is received/paid to be edited.

Your input helps our product team understand how features like this. Thanks again for contributing and keeping the conversation going! ✨

  4. A specific App or button for trades and construction businesses to use to produce the reports needed by the QBCC annually to be compliant and maintain their trade licenses. Annual compliance and reporting to QBCC for construction businesses is a complex procedure, but I am sure everything they ask us to produce is available in Xero. If Xero could create an easy method to provide this information at the click of a button, it would save a lot of time and money at the accountant's office. When you are not a numbers person but a tradie, the compulsory annual reporting…

Hi Skubi, thanks for your feedback on this idea. We understand that having a dedicated QBCC Annual Financial Reporting package could make it easier for Queensland construction businesses to prepare the reports needed to meet their compliance requirements.

I've shifted this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest. If this is something you'd like to see, please keep voting and share how a dedicated QBCC reporting package would support your reporting workflow.

  5. Team Xero
currently TB report shows ending balances for current year in db/cr two columns AND in single column Clubbed up remaining balances +/- in when COMPANRED to previous periods.

I propose/request IT to make TB more classic by

    1. showing ALL remaining balances in two columns DB/CR when comparing previous years
    2. OPENING and CLOSING balances columns to be available (year selected from starting of fiscal year Jan20xx)
    3. TB report to ALLOW us to SELECT RANGE of dates (Range based TB)
    4. MOVEMENT (total Debits Total Credits) for the selected DATE and/OR RANGE should be available. CURRENTLY this is available in GL…

Hi Yaseen, thank you for this incredibly detailed and well-thought-out suggestion for the Trial Balance report.

We can see how much manual work you're doing, combining exports from the GL Summary Report, just to create a "classic" comparative Trial Balance for your auditors. That's exactly the kind of difficult workflow we want to help improve.

Your proposal to enhance the report with separate debit/credit columns for comparatives, clear opening/closing balances, and a movement column for a selected date range is very clear.

We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how these reporting improvements would help them during audits and financial analysis.

  6. When looking at the profit for the current year in a multi currency situation, Xero just uses the conversion date of the report for the lump sum of the year, rather than the exchange rate from each month and then adding them together. This means anyone who has been entering the info into a larger group on a month by month basis has to consistently make forex adjustments, even though they have used the Xero rates of exchange in all the prior months P&L's.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. The idea is to have the report reflect the historical monthly exchange rates already used in prior period reporting, helping reduce the need for manual foreign exchange adjustments when consolidating financial information.

Thanks again for sharing this feedback. We appreciate the examples from the community around how this could make multi-currency reporting more consistent.

  7. Include Invoice numbers for payable payments and receivable payments in reports.

The information is available for payable invoices and receivable invoices but is missing for the payable payments and receivable payments. Reference information is carried through but not invoice number information.

Thanks for bringing this to us Vicki. We have moved this to Gaining Support so others can vote and comment and we can gauge community sentiment. Please note, if you do downgrade to a ledger plan you can publish reports prior to this so you have the data, but we acknowledge that you can't access live data.

  9. Aged payable report - please add drop down in the filter - bank account number detail. This would be helpful to cross check bank accounts before getting to the 'create batch for payment' especially in schools where we have two people to authorise accounts.

  12. Can you please add a link the note that takes us back to the statement it relates to? i.e. when we click on the note number in the statement, it takes us to the note. Can we get the reverse done too? Then we can more easily check that the note reconciles with the statement figure.

Hi Philippa, thanks for sharing this suggestion.

We understand you’re looking for a way to link report notes directly back to the related transactions or source statements, making it easier to review the details behind key insights.

Having connected notes and transaction references could help make management reporting easier to follow and support more efficient reviews.

We’ll continue to monitor the conversation and gather feedback from the community as this idea gains support.

  13. From the P&L report when opening a specific income/expense account, the list of transactions under that account shows at the bottom "Showing items" number, this number includes the first line (title) and last two totals, which can be misleading if one wants to count the number of transactions.
I'd suggest the "showing items" number to only indicate number of transactions.

Hi Tamer, thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you.

We've reviewed your idea and can appreciate that the items list can be misleading. We're opening up this idea to gain more support from the community. We'll monitor this space for more traction in the meantime.

  14. Add tab toggling over 2 windows so that one can make back-end amendments and go straight back to reviewing an accounting report.

To supplement month-end/year-end review and sign offs, add a feature for Review Comments and Tracking.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We understand you’re looking for an internal comment and query workflow within reports, so teams can discuss findings and review items without needing to move between different tools.

Having collaboration features built into reports could help make review processes more connected and keep conversations closer to the work being completed.

I’ve updated this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue gathering feedback and examples from the community.

Because this thread also packages a separate request regarding a tab-toggle layout to switch between report views, we ask that you create a new, dedicated idea for that specific navigation change so it can build its own support from the community

  16. The PDF preview pane is fantastic... except a page can be lengthy and it doesn't let you scroll on it.
If I hover my cursor on the PDF preview and scroll (using the scroll wheel of my mouse), it zooms. I almost never need to zoom on it. If I needed to Zoom I would hold control and scroll, like I would on any other browser page.
I have to move my cursor to this skinny panel either side of the page to be able to scroll, or grab the skinny scroll bar (to the right, not the left).

Appreciate your feedback, Sam. We don't have any immediate changes planned to the zoom and scroll behaviour of the reporting preview. For now we'll track interest your idea receives here and update if there's any progress around this.

Hi team, appreciate coming into Xero Support after our recent update here and apologies for any confusion.

To confirm, there is no way to add letters into 'Numbered heading' atm.

An option for now may be to add letters to the front of your schedule heading, however appreciate this this is a little different from the formatting you're trying to achieve here.

While this isn't something we have direct plans for right now, we'll start to get a sense of the wider interest from others in this here and share if there are any updates. Thanks

Hi Darren, thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. We'll move this idea to gain more support from the community and monitor this space for traction. However, could you please provide some more clarity on what you mean by quoted hours by staff per task? Is this for a specific area like payroll or projects in Xero? Cheers

  19. Please add a VAT Reconciliation Report for South African Xero Orgs.
There is currently no report that allows users to determine which transactions in the VAT Control Account have been posted to which VAT periods and which returns they fall under. Late claims are not indicated anywhere except in the transaction detail within each VAT201, so the Control Account needs to be reconciled externally in excel.
This is particularly an issue when a conversion from another accounting software has taken place and there are opening balances to reconcile. Or if conversion took place mid VAT period.
    It would be useful…

  20. Every new year tax year (1 April) the reports for the previous year that we are still using ie 31 March 2025 automatically change to the 31 March of the current year ie 31 March 2027 and the Last Financial year changes to 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
In the drop down box for the Pack Date Range Custom would it be possible to add a Last financial year -1 so that it reads the date range for the previous year that we are still compiling for ie: Date range 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.

Thanks for taking the time to explain how you’re using the Pack date range and why you’d like a “Last financial year -1” option. This isn’t something we’re actively working on right now, so we’re moving your idea to Gaining support. This lets other partners and small businesses add their vote and specific scenarios, which helps our product teams understand how many people are impacted and how this should be prioritised alongside other reporting work.

In the meantime, the best available workaround is to set the prior year using a Custom date range and reuse that report pack where possible.
