Reporting - Receivable and Payable Credit Note reports
Create a Receivable and/or Payable Credit Note Report which lists all credit notes issued/received, and the corresponding invoice they are linked to. This will help as when a credit note is issued the status is 'paid', however if I want to do a review of invoices and days until invoice is paid, I want to be able to exclude items that have been credit noted.
4 votesThanks for sharing your idea.
For now, the closest thing we have is to use the Receivable/Payable Invoice Detail (or Summary) reports.
You can use the Filter option on Source, to only show credit notes. However, the existing reports don't show the invoices/bills they're allocated to.

Income by Contact report - Extend chart
Would be great to run this report but be able to show Top 20 or 30 clients rather than just Top 10.
1 voteHi Brenda, just to confirm is it within the graph that you're wanting to increase the # of top customers?
Currently, if you run the Income by Contact report with Chart & table the chart will only show the top 10 but the table will give you an ordered list for all contacts that you received income from in the period.

Profit & Loss - Change heading default to 'Net Profit / (Loss)'
I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND A PRODUCT UPDATE ON THE PROFIT & LOSS REPORT.
THE REPORTS 'Net Profit' ON ALL REPORTS, EVEN IF SOME PERIODS HAVE A LOSS. CAN IT INCLUDE 'Net Profit/(Loss)' AS PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THOSE NOT IN THE ACCOUNTING FIELD TO KNOW THAT BRACKETS MEANS A LOSS, MAY INTERPRET (LOSS) AS A PROFIT
2 votesHi Ntando, it'll be good to gauge interest from others in the community that'd like this terminology to be used as a default on the Profit & Loss report.
Want to be open this isn't anything we have any plans for atm with the customisation that's available.
As you may already be across, currently you can edit the heading of the row through the Edit layout, and then Save as Custom where you have the option to make the report the default for the organisation.

Reports - Common date for next month
When reviewing reports (e.g., Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet), we often need to view monthly data from the start of the fiscal year up to the current month. Right now, we have to manually select the first and last day of each month every time, which is time-consuming and repetitive. This makes simple tasks like flicking through months to verify data more cumbersome than necessary.
- Add “Previous Month” / “Next Month” buttons These buttons would auto-update the report’s date range to the previous or next full month.
Example: From May 1 – May 31, clicking "Next" moves the report to…
5 votesThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Idea's, Jessica. We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that would be most meaningful to you.
We don't have any plans for adding more common date options in reports atm, but we'll begin to get a feel of the interest in this from your idea.

Reporting | Account Transactions - Show Opening Balance in source column instead of date column.
When you run an account transaction report, for a balance sheet item, the opening balance always appears in the date column. It would be helpful if Xero could recode this so that the date column is balance date + 1, and the words "opening balance" appear in the source column. The advantage of this is that when you go to use the data, and put in a filter, you don't have to edit this.
1 voteHi Justine, thanks for sharing your feedback here regarding the Account transactions report. Appreciate the suggestion to improve the layout. We will move this idea to gain more support from the community so that other users who would also like to see this change can add their vote onto it. Reporting - Add a 'Today' filter option to reports
We would like to automatically transfer daily sales data (excluding GST) from Xero into our custom system. However, the current sales reporting options in Xero do not allow us to select a “Today” filter.
At present, we have to manually set the date each day to get the daily sales amount, which makes automation difficult and time-consuming.
Idea / Request:
Please add a “Today” filter option (similar to existing options like “This Month” or “Last Month”) so that businesses can easily pull daily sales data without manual date entry. This would:
Enable easier automation with integrations and custom systems

Reporting - Show invoice number by default on Aged Receivables/Payables Summary report
Aged Receivables/Payables Summary report to include invoice numbers by default, which is commonly available in other accounting softwares. It is crucial to know the number of invoices and unique invoice reference number for ease of reference when reviewing ageing.

Reporting - New section for Bank Reconciliation reports
There are a number of things bugging me regarding the essential task of reconciling bank accounts. The Bank Reconciliation Reports are easy enough to create, but after that it all goes wrong. Nobody seems to have thought about what happens to them after the 'Publish' button is pressed! Here's what I think - and please please please vote for this or nothing will change.
1) I would like to see bank reconciliation reports having their own dedicated space. They are currently hidden away in Reports>Published, mixed up with all the other published reports. Please create a new Bank Reconciliation Reports…

NZ Payroll - Select multiple employees on Leave transactions report
Leave transaction report - NZ. Could this be changed to select multiple employees & to change the format so that there is a column for employee as opposed to grouping by employee. This enables easier reconciling through Excel. The Australian Leave Transaction report is ideal - could NZ's be made the same or similar.

Contact Report - Reports with entity classification and DBA info
When pulling a Contacts report (expense by vendor, cash payments made to vendors, etc) out of Xero, please add the ability to "turn on" more fields from Contacts. For 1099 purposes, it's crucial to see "business entity" selections and "DBA names" (IRS-registered business name) when preparing the 1099 report. I know you can see this info within the 1099 report, but looking at one contact at a time is not efficient.

History and Notes report - Contact details
It would be really useful to see the contact name on the History and Notes report.
We use this report to track bank account changes but we also check newly added supplier bank account details. Seeing which contact each line relates to would help us group them and know if an 'Edited - Bank.....' relates to the same contact as a 'Created' so we don't need to go into each line9 votesHi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand that having more detail available in History and Notes reports could make it easier to review changes and track user activity.
The suggestion is to add contact details within the History and Notes report to help users identify which customer, supplier, or record a change relates to without needing to click out of the report.
We’ll continue tracking this idea here, where other users can share their feedback and examples to help shape future improvements.

Invoice – Unique payment reference field for Reconciliation
Dear Xero,
Please!.. Ideally, accurate references on all source documents should be able to link them to their Payment transactions in Xero. However, it can be extremely difficult and time-consuming - especially with Spend/Receive Money transactions.
It would be incredibly helpful for a column of 'Link ID's' to be displayed on all detailed reports.
Doesn't need to be fancy, just a Unique ID.
This link ID would need to be automatically generated by Xero, and, have the ability to change dynamically in the case a payment is removed (as one of many examples).
It would help to see the account…
1 voteHi Callum, appreciate you highlighting how a unique payment reference field could support reconciliation workflows. Your suggestion about displaying Link IDs on detailed reports to track account movements is a valuable feedback.
This idea has now moved to Gaining Support, which means it’s open for community support through votes and comments. We encourage other members who would find this helpful to add their votes and share their experiences.
In the meantime, a practical workaround is to use the “Reference” field consistently. When creating invoices, include a unique reference code for the payment (for example, PAY-1001), and when receiving payments, enter the same reference in the “Reference” field. This ensures that the data will appear in the Reference column in both the Receivable Invoice report and the Account Transactions report when run for the relevant bank account, making it easier to track and reconcile payments.
We’ll update this thread when the…

Reports - Aged Turnover for both Suppliers and Customers
The delivered response to my previous idea was no correct. The aged summary/detail reports only show what is outstanding.
The report I am requesting is to show the turnover, monthly across 12 months so that we can see what we have spent with a supplier each month for that year, but also what a customer has spent with us.10 votesHi team, returning to the idea here I'd also like to highlight the Income and Expense by contact report which can be run for a date range and with comparative columns. You'll also find you can drill into the figures of the report to view all transactions that make up the total for that contact.
Alternatively, there is the Receivable and Payable Invoice Summary reports that can be filtered for the transaction types you'd like to see and grouped by Contact.
Is there anything missing from these reports that you'd need to get the view you're after here?

Reports - Include Entity Registration Number on Annual Financial Statements
For the Annual Financial Statements, it may be useful to include the entity’s registration number directly beneath the entity’s name in brackets — for example:
The New Company (Pty) Ltd
(2025/######/07).This can be applied on both the cover page and in the header for consistency

Profit & Loss - customise comparison dates
Customise comparison dates
When running a P&L or any other report with comparison data, it would be handy to be able to customise the date range of the comparison data. Some reports have an option of custom date range, but it's greyed out.
4 votesWe understand that customising comparison dates in the Profit & Loss report would give you more control over how you view and analyse business performance, especially when you're working with non-standard reporting periods.
Currently in Xero, if you run the P&L for a custom date range (e.g. 1 Jan 2025 to 27 Jan 2025), you can compare that period with the previous:
- Year – shows 1 Jan 2024 to 27 Jan 2024
- Quarter – shows 1 Oct 2024 to 27 Oct 2024
- Custom – automatically sets the comparison period to the same length (in this case, 27 days) immediately before your selected range, so it would show 5 Dec 2024 to 31 Dec 2024
This idea’s now in Gaining Support. If this would be helpful for your workflow, feel free to add a vote or comment to share how you’d use it. Your input helps the team better understand what…

Reporting - Aged Receivables with bank details to create a debit batch
A Custom Aged Receivables report that can be generated with additional fields selected (banking details as per attached Netcash Template) for import to Netcash to create a debit batch. Xero will then also have to make provision for to the banking details fields on the contact's account as required by Netcash.

Reporting - Ability to filter by one tracking category and display columns by another on reports
I would LOVE to be able to produce tracking reports where I can select ALL items within CATERGORY A, but then display them in columns by CATEGORY B.
Eg. I use Department and Job.
I would like to see all Jobs for a particular Department in a P&L.
Is this something that may be possible in the future or would behelpful to others?

VAT - VAT report by box number for monthly/periodic analysis
We have clients where a sigificant proportion of their sales are Zero rated, which can significanly affect both net and VAT totals in certain boxes as well as the overall value in box 5 to be paid/repaid.
Could you create a report that allows the totals in boxes 1-9 to be listed, allowing comparison with prior months or periods or years.
This will be useful to see, say, the last 3 months or the corresponding prior year amounts so that percentages can be reviewed.
