Bills List view - Sort
The new bills view has totally rearranged the columns and the column widths. I have already added my own vote to adjusting column widths but i really need to be able to sort my bills view columns in an order that is easier on the eye, and neck, instead of bouncing from from one side of the screen to the other unnecessarily.
26 votesHi everyone, with the ability to adjust column widths and sort columns being separate functionality we have recently split this idea from the original so we could update you on sorting while still tracking and sharing if there's any progress for column widths over here.
Sorting columns is now possible with the new bills lists view - If you click the 'Columns' option to the right of the page above the list you'll have controls to hide and show columns, and you can click and drag the six dots to reposition each column where you'd like it to show. Once you click Save you'll see these changes reflected on your list 🙂

Bills - Automatically view the next Draft bill after submitting for approval
Building on the product feature implementation of "Approve and Vie Next", it would be good to also be able to Submit Bills for Approval and view next, please.
24 votesHi team, appreciate all the engagement on this one. We understand how helpful it is to move through draft bills quickly without breaking your flow.
This feature is now available in the new Bills quick-view experience. You can use Approve & Next to approve a bill and automatically move straight on to the next one in your Awaiting Approval list, making batch approval much smoother.
Thanks again for sharing your use cases and real-world examples, they’ve been helpful in shaping this feature.

Bills - Add 'Upload bills' to Dashboard.
Add the 'Upload bills' feature as a widget on the Dashboard, for convenience.
At present you have to navigate to 'Bills to pay', then from the 'New bill' dropdown, select 'Upload bills'. It's a great time saving feature, but seems tucked away, and would be great if right from the dashboard I could just drop bills, and invoices, ready to process later.34 votesHi team, now that we have completely released the new Homepage to all users I'm pleased to return and move this idea to Completed!
You'll find from the Bills to pay widget if you click 'Add bills' there is a drop down to Upload files. 😊
Also just to highlight for some here from the Bills list you'll find the New bill drop down includes Upload bills and indicates keyboard shortcuts you can use you to save time from this screen.
I appreciate there are additional requests around accessing upload files from Xero in feedback here and I do welcome you to start new ideas for these that we can consider for future enhancements. Thanks

Xero Files | Data capture - Extend to emailed bills
Can the new Data Capture function for Files be extended to Bills forwarded by email.
1 voteHi Tim, I'd like to return and share that we have released the ability to create bills with Smart Document Capture 😊
We hope you enjoy the efficiency and time savings this tool can help achieve!

A way of moving files from inbox into draft bills so they can be auto-populated by AI
A way of moving files from file inbox into draft bills so they can be auto-populated by AI
1 voteHi team, appreciate the feedback here. We have recently released a new feature called Smart document capture that is available to UK organisations and will be released to all other regions soon.
A recent enhancement we just released to this feature is the ability to extract data from your files to create Bills! So rather than having to get your files into the Bills feature you can use Smart document capture to select and create a Bill all within Xero Files. 😁

Email-to Bills - Use the contact's default currency
When sending invoices to Xero email address, the currency defaults incorrectly instead of taking the currency already set for the contact. We expected the contact’s currency to be applied automatically at the stage of creating the invoice, but this is not happening.
3 votesHi everyone! Happy to share that this is now live 🎉
In an effort to make bill creation faster and simpler we've enhanced automation by now applying supplier and organisation defaults, no matter whether a bill is created from email, web or mobile. Defaults such as account codes, tax rates, and tracking categories that have been pre-set are now applied automatically to every bill.
Reducing the need for manual data entry, minimising errors, and speeding up your approvals.
Thank you for all your feedback surrounding this, here.

Draft bills
Would like to be able to select multiple draft bills to review. Then once you have posted the current bill it opens the next one to review and process until all have been processed. Going back to draft bills each time is time consuming.
1 voteHi Gillian, you may have noticed the eye icon next to your bills in the list view. From here you can get a quick view of the bill, and recently we also released the ability to edit bills from the quick view, so you can easily make changes, and move on to the next bill in the list without having to leave the list at all 😊

Bill due date
Hi, you already have a 'bill due date' which you can set up to default to various options but you have to enter a number between 1-31 and we have suppliers who allow us to pay 60 days end of month. Could this be amended?
2 votesHi Karen, it sounds like you may have the default for bills set for 'of the following month' or 'of the current month', however you can change this to [x] days after the end of the bill month. See our direction on how to adjust this on Xero Central.

Bills - Changing VAT code on paid supplier invoices
It would save a lot of time if it would be possible to edit the VAT code on paid and reconcilled invoices, just like you can change the nominal code. The VAT return is done at the end of each quarter, which means that the majority of invoices and expenses have been paid, by the time you are running your VAT return and double checking that all invoices and expenses have been correctly coded for VAT. At the moment, if an item is miscoded I need to go to that item, unreconcile the paymemt, go back to the item and…
2 votesHi community, we have a help article surrounding this topic as there are a few different options available. If you're an adviser you could consider Find & recode as an option but would highly recommend testing this out in the demo company to get an idea of how this works if it's your first time.

Bill Payments - Automatic upload of payment files in the bank system
Dear support team,
I use Zero mostly to run payments and upload them in the bank system. I am trying to make my work easier as currently Zero has very limited features and I have to do a lot of work manually. I need to be able to download payments files from Zero in CSV or XML format and then automatically upload them in bulk in our bank system. The upload must be done in the right bank account and show our account number, the beneficiary, the amount of payment, currency, value date, status of the payment file and, most…
1 voteHi Raluca, sounds like Batch Payments is what you're after here. You can create a payment file for your supplier bills, and send this to the bank.
Alternatively you could use Open Banking to pay bills by direct bank transfer.

Bills - Separating tax amounts when entering bills
It would be nice if the tax rates show separate on the bills when entering them to know it is calculating properly. I understand we can see the tax broken out after we click approve, but it would be handy to see it before. It would also be nice if we could manually adjust the tax amounts.
1 voteHi Bailey, currently when you enter a bill, if there's more than one tax rate, a different tax total is shown for each tax rate underneath the Subtotal.
These totals are automatically updated live as you enter more lines on the bill - there's no need to save or approve the bill to see it.
If you're experiencing different behavior I'd recommend raising this with our specialists at Xero Support who can get a closer look in to see what's going on.

Bills List View - Remove 'View' column from the default layout
There is a new completely unnecessary and annoying column named "View" in the Bills reports. I can switch it off each time I open that report, but I would like to reset the default so it doesn't come up ever. To view a bill all I have to do is click into it, so the extra visual of the EYE is just very irritating. It isn't an issue with the Invoices.
2 votesHi Adrienne, sorry we haven't returned sooner. I'm pleased to share that since our last update we have made some improvements to the list view for bills and you'll find you can now select and order columns how you'd like them to appear on the table.
Just click the 'Column button on the top left above the table where you'll be able to set your selection and drag & drop where you'd like to see columns. 😊

Bills to Pay - Feature to save Supplier Statements
Description:
I would like to suggest the incorporation of a new functionality in Xero that allows users to save supplier statements within the system. This feature should not post any transactions to the chart of accounts but instead, save the supplier's name, balance, and date as a memo associated with the statement. This information should be viewable within the supplier's profile.Implementation:
The saved statement details should be accessible in a dedicated section of the supplier's profile, providing a historical record of statement balances on specific dates. Furthermore, these statement details could be utilized in the Aged Payables report, either…11 votesHi team, as shared earlier - we made an update to Contacts a little earlier this year so you can now upload and save a Suppliers statement as a file directly to the contacts record in Xero.
It's also possible to add notes within the details when editing a contact which are visible on the right of the contacts record once saved.

Bills - Duplicate warning when emailing bills into Xero
If you enter a duplicate supplier invoice via an email link into Xero bills, then Xero should advise/warn you that there is already an invoice in the system with the same reference/ amount. There should be the same warning that is given when a duplicate invoice is loaded into Xero bills manually.
12 votesHi team, pleased to share that duplicate detection has now been released and available to you all. Xero will compare the Contact, reference and amounts of bills and credit notes in your org to help identify possible duplicates. You can then go to the Review page to take action on any Unpaid bills (Draft or Awaiting Payment).
While Paid bills will also be picked up, if you need to take any action or view bills you'll just want to return to the bills list to access these.
Thanks for your interest and staying looped in with us through the idea, here.

Bills - Back button after adding a payment, to view other bills for the same supplier
When paying a supplier bill, there should be a back button to get back to the same supplier to continue paying more of that suppliers outstanding bills due for payment once a payment has been made. Currently once you have paid a single bill for a supplier, you have to go back to the bills page and search for another bill or search for the supplier again, it takes twice as long as it should and makes more room for error (our company like many others i would guess need to check each bill against the products we ordered with…
2 votesHi team, appreciate the interest and sharing your idea in the forums here. We recently released enhancements to the Bills quick view (eye icon) from the list of bills. You'll find you can now edit and make payments on bills from the quick view without having to leave your list of bills. Meaning you can jump from one bill to the next with ease!

Assign costs from bill to mulitple rental properties
I get a monthly insurance bill for all my rental properties. Would like to associate the cost of each to the appropriate property.
1 voteHi Coleman, this is possible with the use of Tracking. You could set up one of your tracking categories as properties and list each of your properties as an option. Then when you're entering documents in Xero you can assign each line of your bills, invoices and other document types to the property it relates. 🙂

Bills - Bulk approve and bulk edit accounts on draft bills
I forward invoices to Bills via the email feature.
I then batch process these at regular intervals.
There could be 50 to 100 bills here.
I have set default purchase contacts for all these contacts yet none of these drafts use that until I go into the bill for manual approval.
This wastes a lot of time as I have to go through each bill 1 by 1.Allow me to bulk edit the accounts on Draft Bills and / or use the default account setting for that contact.
This simple change would save me hours and I would get…
15 votesHi team, I know it's been sometime since this idea was initially raised but we wanted to return, as an update we made to the emails to bills flow should have resoled the underlying pain point initially raised here.
Now, when you email bills to your organisation your organisation's defaults will automatically be applied. So for example as mentioned in this idea if you have saved defaults for the contact the bill is created for, these will automatically be applied to the created bill. 🙂 - You can read more on the default application on Xero Central. Thanks!

Dashboard - Awaiting Approval in Bills Section
Add a line item/total for 'Awaiting approval' to the 'Bills you need to pay' section of the Dashboard.
25 votesHi team, with the new Homepage now out to 100% of customers, we'd like to return and update the idea here.
As mentioned in my last post - there are now 2 ways of getting a quick view and access to Bills awaiting approval in your org;
- Tasks widget will indicate the total # of items awaiting approval and you can click on the line to be taken straighten to the list
- Bills to pay will show you the total bills awaiting approval, along with the total cost of these bills
We want to thank everyone for your support and showing interest in this idea here.

Bill due date
When inputting a bill to pay, the default "due date" should be calculated automatically (per your settings / usual trading / 30days etc) - and then you amend this IF different.... having to always enter a due date is a pain
2 votesHi Lyn, it's already possible to set default due dates for bills via the Invoice settings, or on individual suppliers via their contact record. 😊
In the same way you do for invoices and quote you can follow the steps here to set a default due date for all bills. Separately if you'd like different due dates for individual suppliers you can edit their Default Purchase settings within their contact record.

Bills - Create a recurring supplier invoice from a previously entered invoice
Add another option on the SAVE button for Supplier Invoice entry (and Sales I guess but we don't use XERO for our Sales) to enable a previously entered invoice to be copied from and then SAVED as a RECURRING INVOICE. There have been many times I would love to have had this option.
1 voteJust for anyone else coming across the idea here - You can use 'Repeat' from the Bill options in the top right of the Bill to create a new repeating bill template😊
- Don't see your idea?
