  1. At the moment Xero doesn't seem to have a provision wherein only active items can be downloaded from the Inventory List. I think this is an important and effective feature that needs to be implemented.

Hi everyone, we've now introduced the ability to export your items list from the Products & Services page based on the filter you've applied. You can now export only your active items, or all items, making it easier to manage your inventory.

We're also working on adding an extra column for 'Status' in the CSV export along with 'Inventory type'. This will be coming in as a later release. We'll post an update in this thread when that's out as well  🙂

  2. Sales tax code for Products & Services SKUs "Item Name"

When you export the list of items from Products & Services you get a CSV with the fields:
ItemCode ItemName SalesUnitPrice SalesAccount SalesTaxRate InventoryAssetAccount CostOfGoodsSoldAccount

However, there is no field for "Sales tax code" which is used when you're leveraging AutoTax lookup integration with Avalara. Therefore, as we're converting to using AutoTax, we have ~700 SKUs here that we have to manually update ONE BY ONE!!!!

This is insane. Why is this field not able to be edited in bulk like every other field?

  3. When reviewing a business' product range for the sake of refining and optimising, we need to identify which customers purchases what products and in what quantities and to what value.
E.g. if I have a butchery, I would want to know who my top purchasers of beef products are and my top purchasers of pork products, and how much those customers spend on beef and pork respectively over a given period.

Hi community, with the Inventory Item Details report you'll be able to add columns for Contact and Group by Item Name. once run clicking on the Contact header will group all sales for a customer of each item so you can easily see which customers have purchased the most of one item.

If you sell to different customers at different prices you can also add margin and/or profit columns to get a better understanding of those you make the most return from.

  4. Ability to have bulk updates and import stock quantities into Xero.

Purpose: To save users time from having to adjust/update inventory one by one.

Me again! Here to share that bulk adjustments are now available in organisations. 😊

Save yourself time after a stock take by creating, reviewing and submitting your inventory adjustments in bulk.

From Product and Services page, just select your items, then next to 'Create item' click the drop down and select Create adjustment. From here, you can enter the count of each item on the page and Xero will automatically calculate the difference. Alternatively, you can export enter your data and then import to create a bulk adjustment.

You'll then be asked to review, before submitting the bulk adjustment.

To compare or view previous adjustments just switch across to the Adjustment History page.

Thank you to everyone that's shared and rallied for this idea here, we appreciate your contributions and sharing how we could improve your use of Xero.

If you have new ideas for how we could further…

  7. We are a meadery that often sells mead in kegs. This idea would also apply to breweries.

I use a "Keg" inventory item to track the physical keg shells. I use a separate item for the product inside the keg. So an invoice for one keg will show two items: the mead itself and the keg. This helps me keep track of our physical kegs on hand, weather they are full or empty.

When a client returns a keg, they receive a credit note for returning the keg. In addition to getting their deposit back, this keeps my inventory correct.

  8. in the APP can we have inventory stock levels show when you search for an item.
Currently it only shows if you have xero stock and try and save.
I have to use the desktop version to view levels

Hi team, thanks for your input on the idea here. Now in the Accounting app you'll see the current Quantity on Hand for Tracked inventory items shown when you add an item to a Sales Invoice or Quote.😊

  9. I would like to make a suggestion (for XERO improvements). on the inventory page, where it is listed, where there are 3 dots on the right (currently only archive or delete), can EDIT not be added there, rather than first clicking on it, and then searching the edit button on the top of the next screen

HI team, returning to the idea here we will mark this as delivered. As noted in my last update - With the Inventory item Summary report you'll be able to filter to only select the items you're wanting to view and can add columns to view Opening & Closing Balance or Quantities, as well as those sold in the period the reports being run.

Alternatively, you could run the Receivable Invoice Detail report. This'll only include sales of items, and the report includes the Item Code column by default.

You could also set the report up to Group by Item Code, so sales of each item are listed together, complete with totals for the date range.

  11. Ability to copy existing items/code.

Purpose: Saving users’ time from re-typing all the details.

Hi community, Our team have been doing some recent work in this space and they have released a change so you can now copy/duplicate existing items! The new item will still need a unique item code and you'll see the name is duplicated with the tag 'copy' at the end. 😊

Thanks for all your feedback and sharing with us for the idea here.
