Hi everyone, we appreciate and want to thank everyone for feedback on the responsiveness of the new Homepage. This has been shared back with our product teams as they continue to develop this experience.

At this stage, there are no plans to fix the number of columns when using the Homepage. However, our team will continue to monitor usage on this closely.

One recent change we’ve introduced is that the Homepage layout can be saved at each screen size.

For example, if you set up and save the Homepage layout for your laptop and then move to a larger monitor you’ll see this adapt. However, if you ‘edit’ the Homepage and save the layout separately from your monitor Xero will remember the layout for each screen size. You should only need to do this once for each screen you use.

We’re looking at enhancing the edit layout experience soon to…

Movable homepage widgets reduce usability and layout consistency

The current behaviour of movable and responsive homepage widgets makes the interface harder to use rather than easier. When the screen size changes (for example, switching to split screen) widgets move into different positions. The same happens when logging in on a different laptop or monitor.

This behaviour is particularly problematic when working with multiple bank accounts. Trying to keep four or five bank account widgets aligned on the left-hand side is not reliable, as their positions change depending on screen size or device.

As a result, the homepage cannot act as a consistent starting point or reference for work in Xero. The way widgets currently move is frustrating and disrupts routine workflows.

Widget layouts should remain fixed regardless of screen size or device, or users should be given an option to disable movable widgets entirely.

You're AI is hallucinating and creating solutions to problems that dont exist in the real world.

Custome Widget for PAYG & BAS Linked to nominated Bank Account

As a small business owner we set aside PAYG and BAS weekly. it would be incredibly useful to have a custom dashboard widget linked to a nominated bank account.

    This widget would:

    • Display the total PAYG and BAS currently owing (pulled directly from Xero’s BAS/PAYG data).
    • Show the current balance in our dedicated BAS holding account.
    • Highlight the difference between the two amounts so we can see at a glance whether we are ahead or behind in setting aside tax funds.

This would save time, improve cash flow visibility, and remove the need to manually compare reports with bank balances each week.

Hi team, we wanted to share an update as we have released Smart Document Capture that can analyse and help auto create transactions(including bills) from the files inbox. Along with the upload bills feature mentioned in my last update, these tools can help reduce the manual data entry for you, saving you valuable time.

Right now, we're currently working on a redesign of the individual bill View and Edit pages, that'll have the ability to add a Planned date directly on the page. When released, if manually entering a bill from scratch, once you add a contact all you'll need to do is click Save to update the page where the option to add a planned date will be available.

I'll come back to share when these pages are released.

Next to ‘Date’ and ‘Due Date’ on the New Bill/Edit Bill page, it would be a massive time saver to also have a ‘Planned Date’ field. This would match the layout on the “Awaiting Payment” page.

Right now, after entering a bill you have to jump out, find it in the list, then enter the Planned Date. It would be a lot cleaner and more efficient if you could enter the Planned Date directly after the Due Date when creating or editing the bill.
