Hi community, thanks for sharing your feedback in the idea here. Since first raised, we have made some improvement to the Bills to pay page including the ability to quick view and edit bills on the fly from the list, a duplicates review feature and the ability to directly upload to create draft bills in your organisation.

Taking some of the more recent development into play it'd be good to hear if there are still particular aspects of this page that you feel could be improved.

Hi team, we appreciate feedback on having more control of the width of columns in the bills lists.

Atm, we don't have plans for developing the ability for customers to control the column width, but will continue to monitor this idea closely.

I've split this idea off from the ability to sort columns in the bills list being two separate feature so we can update you on progress for each.

Thanks for your continued engagement and valuable feedback on this long-standing idea, everyone. We've been carefully reviewing your comments and want to acknowledge the clear sentiment of frustration regarding the current limitations around managing multiple addresses for contacts, particularly for invoicing and delivery purposes, and that this is a critical feature to many of you.

We want to share an update on our progress here - We're pleased to confirm that the foundational work for handling multiple addresses has been completed within the Contacts area of Xero. This was a crucial first step. Building on this, now that all customers are on the new invoicing experience our product team has moved into the discovery phase for adding multiple addresses directly within invoicing. This means they are actively exploring the best way to implement this functionality to meet your needs effectively.

We appreciate your patience as we work through the complexities…

I've had to create separate contacts for each Defence contract manager, because of this. There's a lot of them. Each invoice has to be CC'd to the correct contact when you send it to Defence accounts, and I'm not willing to bet on my ability to not make typos when changing things repeatedly, so multiple unnecessary contacts it is...

I've had to workaround this issue with separate contact cards for each site (and in some cases, for each project with a different person that invoices need to be marked attention to)... That then requires custom reports and statements.

Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on ABN verification. We really appreciate you explaining how this could make it easier to stay compliant and simplify your daily workflows.

Right now, you can use the quick link on the Contacts page in Xero to open the official ABN Lookup site and check details manually. We understand this isn’t the fully integrated solution you’d prefer, but it’s the option currently available for verifying contact information.

Our product team has continued to review this idea, however it’s not something we’re planning in the near future. The idea will stay open for votes, and we’ll keep tracking interest here. If anything changes, we’ll post an update in this thread.

Hi community, thanks again for all the support and very honest feedback you’ve shared on this idea over the years.

We appreciate the manual steps to apply credits are time consuming, especially if you’re managing large volumes of these on a regular basis.

We'd like to share that we've now developed functionality that allows Xero to suggest relevant unpaid credit notes as matches when you’re reconciling. We’ll be releasing this feature slowly to all users over the coming weeks.

You’ll also be able to find and select Credit notes using Find & Match - Just make sure you tick "Show Received Items" (for spent statement lines) or "Show Spent Items" (for received statement lines) so the credit note appears in the list.

When you select a Credit note to Reconcile, Xero will create a cash refund against the credit note (rather than allocating the credit to a specific invoice automatically),…

Hi community, we thank you for your feedback on the value of being able to flag a Sales invoice as in dispute. We know a clear way to mark these invoices would be helpful.

    Similarly to our update for Supplier invoices there are a few options you may want to consider to currently highlight Sales invoices in this situation;

    1. Add a note to the invoice to serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
    2. Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Invoices" can help you filter and report on these items.
    3. Update the reference to add a notation such as [reference number] - 'In dispute'

While we know these aren't perfect solutions, we hope these may help some in the conversation right now.

We appreciate your enthusiasm for this feature, and we want to be transparent about where it stands, and this is an idea that…

Hi everyone, a year on from my last engagement we wanted to provide an update for you all here.

As many will be across we're in the midst of making a lot of iterations and improvements to new invoicing leading up to the retirement of classic invoicing in September (2024).

We have a fair amount of work lined up in the teams schedule over the coming months and to give an indication there isn't any committed plans around a function to add interest to invoices.

That said, we do have a team that have picked up and are considering how we might solve this with the technology in new invoicing - It's early days on this yet, but I'll share if there's any progress on this for you all here.

In the meantime, as has been shared by others over time there are a few ways you could accomplish this…

Hi community, we acknowledge the strong feelings in this idea and why you need a feature to flag bills directly within Xero. We really appreciate all your feedback and the detailed explanations of how this would help streamline your accounts payable.

We are dedicated to providing a solution for this over the longer term, but this will take some time requiring changes that sit beneath the face of bills.

In lieu of a direct feature for this we wanted to highlight some of the options discussed by the community here:

    • Add a note to the bill: A detailed note on the bill itself can serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
    • Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Bills" can help you filter and report on these items.
    • Adjust the due date: Temporarily extending the due date can prevent accidental payment while the dispute is…

@Lynn the workaround I've been using is to add the reason why it's in dispute to the bill reference, because that shows up when I'm reviewing a batch payment. Doesn't help if the bill reference is really long, but it's helped save me a few times :-)

(example from a couple of weeks ago: " - query ANZAC Day" because the bill showed a contractor as working on a public holiday, which was outside the scope of the contract)

Hey everyone, thanks so much for sharing all your ideas and detailed suggestions for a comprehensive Audit Trail Report.

Through some of the comments in this discussion we wanted to highlight the Journal Report that may help with visibility of detail some are after. We've taken on board your thoughts on how this could be enhanced, like including an 'edited date' column and improving the export to Excel, however this is not in the roadmap right now.

Being open, providing a complete audit trail of every single event and change within an organisation is not in our plans.

That said, it’d help to gather interest in specific items you'd like to see added within the history and notes and I've shared links to a few ideas that have already been started on the platform. We welcome you to add your vote, or start a new idea for those that'd be…

Hi community, thanks for your responses to our update and the continued interest this idea receives. We're keeping a watchful eye on the support this idea gathers.

As mentioned in my last update our immediate focus for now is delivering more automation and intelligent tools to help you reconcile faster.

However, we understand and appreciate the pain points shared through this idea and will move the status of this to Accepted as our product team look into more details around this and how we might plan this into the roadmap.

I'll keep you updated of any developments in this space.

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback on this idea, community. We appreciate that having to manually select attachments on every invoice can feel a little fiddly. We get that you want a smoother workflow, that saves you time.

As noted by others in the idea, one option for now would be to add standard files, like your terms and conditions, directly to your invoice template. That way, they'll be included automatically when you send out your invoices.

To confirm how this functionality currently works - this is based on the user and driven by the last invoice that was sent. Where you have files attached, and you had selected to include files as an attachment when emailing the invoice, the next invoice you send with file attachments should have this selected by default.

A caveat to this is when you are working in incognito mode, or refresh your browser…

Hi community, in lieu of having a direct feature for this I wanted to highlight the option shared earlier on in this thread (Thanks Peter!) for those it may help.

As mentioned, currently you could enter a separate line on the invoice, with a negative amount for the retention value, and code this to a 'customer retentions' account in the Balance Sheet. You could also add a comment in the Description field, indicating the cumulative retention value.

The Account Transactions Report can then be used to manage the values being carried forward.

Being open, this isn't something we have planned for development at this time, however we'll continue to gather the interest here, and if there's any changes we'll let you know.

My clients do use credit notes and a retentions receivable asset account or other similar workarounds. Unfortunately, this means creating a separate retentions receivable account for each of their customers and given that there's multiple projects and contracts for each of those customers and the retentions receivable can only be reconciled with the customer's statement on a per-project basis, it's still something that needs my clients to maintain a manual spreadsheet OR create a separate receivables account for each project (which gets very unwieldy very quickly).

Thanks for your feedback, everyone. We really appreciate you sharing your thoughts and the needs you've expressed about how auto linking recurring invoices to projects would save time, and give you more insights into project profitability.

The primary way to link repeating invoice line items to a project is to manually assign them to the project once the invoice has been generated, though we know you're looking for ways to streamline this process.

We've carefully reviewed all your comments and the strong desire for this functionality, however after much consideration, we've decided that we won't be developing the ability to assign repeating invoices to projects in the foreseeable future.

We understand this news might be disappointing, especially for those who've been vocal about this need for some time. Decisions like these are always tough. We have to balance a wide range of requests and development priorities across all aspects of…
