Hi community, thank you for all the engagement and we can see the growing interest in improvements to help simplify your view of information on the new Homepage and navigate important information and insights with more ease.
Right now, our team have a few pieces of work underway intended to help with some of the pain points that have been raised here these include:
- More options for the sizing of widgets so you can reduce these frames and better position this information on your screen
- More customisation of information within a widget like being able to remove visuals
- Improving the experience of moving widgets when editing the homepage to make it more obvious when dragging and dropping them to different positions on the page
We’ve also roadmapped further changes for later this year, once everyone is on the new experience. I’ll share more updates as we progress.

Hi Denise, thanks for sharing this idea! We can see how a “Bad Debtor” flag could be a really useful tool for managing risk. When your business is busy, you don’t want to accidentally extend credit to a customer who’s already significantly overdue.
Right now, the absence of an automated alert means staff often have to double-check a customer’s payment history or risk raising an invoice for someone who should be on a stop-credit list.
As a short-term option, you can use the Contact Notes field. Adding a note to a contact makes it visible when viewing their details, though it doesn’t yet “pop up” during invoicing.
Regarding your idea on default rates, you can already assign a default discount rate to contact records. You can also use the Untrack Items feature to make data entry faster and reduce manual effort.

Hi team, thanks for sharing your thoughts on adding expiry and renewal dates to files. It’s been useful to hear how this could support the management of compliance-related documents like insurance certificates and training records.
The idea of having reminders for upcoming renewals is a practical one, particularly for teams working in compliance-heavy environments. We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support, which means it’s now open for the wider community to add votes and comments. If this would be helpful for your business, feel free to share how you’d use it or any specific scenarios you have in mind — that context helps shape what we look at next.
In the meantime, the current workaround is to track renewal or expiry dates outside of Xero, and archive expired files before uploading the updated versions when they’re ready.

Sorry to hear you're not liking the refresh of the Files inbox, Felicity. The intention is to make managing and working with your files simpler and more efficient.
Just to confirm, when you say this has added extra clicks for you - would that be the need to go to the Archived tab to access a fioder you've moved a file to?

Yes, all my files that I use regularly have been moved to archive so every time you go in you have to now go to archive to find them. Can these not be still avail on main screen with an archive option to send ones you no longer need as current?

Agree the overpayment not being automatically allocated to a client's outstanding invoices is frustrating. We have quite a few who overpay and I find if I have forgotten that person overpaid and not manually allocated it, although the system says they owe nothing the actual invoice is still owing and the invoice reminder to pay gets sent out and upsets the customer. Would love a solution to this!

552 votesHi community, we appreciate the continued traction this idea's received, and do want to provide clarity and set expectation.
Your feedback has been valuable in understanding the needs of using description only lines to; add subheadings, provide context for grouped charges, and ensure your invoices are easy for your clients to read and understand.
To reconfirm, atm - You can add one-off description only lines as you enter an invoice. However, if you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you'll need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
- We know some users have set up and saved inventory items for description only lines they commonly use, however as the item code field is used for inventory items the line of the invoice is treated as 'financial' meaning you'll then need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax…

I am finding this new home page ridiculously busy and hard to navigate. It was good to have the ability to put my clients bank accounts one side and other information the other side of the screen.
While it is nice to see some of the info you have added it is not necessary and totally do not want to see the ads bar along bottom!!!
You have made a great layout very challenging and frustrating!!
