Homepage - Simplify layout
The beta version of the new Xero layout. updated interface feels overly busy and cluttered, which makes navigation more difficult—particularly for clients who manage multiple bank accounts.
I believe users should have the choice to switch to the new layout when they’re ready, rather than being automatically transitioned.
Additionally, clients pay for Xero to streamline their financial management, not to have advertising pushed at them. The current design detracts from the user experience and makes it harder to find and complete tasks efficiently.
785 votesHi community, thank you for all the engagement and we can see the growing interest in improvements to help simplify your view of information on the new Homepage and navigate important information and insights with more ease.
Right now, our team have a few pieces of work underway intended to help with some of the pain points that have been raised here these include:
- More options for the sizing of widgets so you can reduce these frames and better position this information on your screen
- More customisation of information within a widget like being able to remove visuals
- Improving the experience of moving widgets when editing the homepage to make it more obvious when dragging and dropping them to different positions on the page
We’ve also roadmapped further changes for later this year, once everyone is on the new experience. I’ll share more updates as we progress.

Homepage - Resize Widgets
Homepage seems overly cluttered. Would be great to be able to resize widget tiles & have the ability to change the graph styles
485 votesHi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate the feedback we've been receiving about the sizing of widgets and desire for more flexibility with these.
Our product teams are currently working on updates to allow resizing of more of the widgets on the Homepage.
There are considerations that weigh into what's possible' like what information sits within each widget.
The resizing will work in the same way as what has been provided with the Cash in and out, and Chart of accounts watch list widget.
I'll be sure to keep you updated here as new widget sizes are rolled out. Thanks

Homepage - Link to Drafts at top of Invoice and Bills widgets
What a ridiculous page the new layout is. I tried to add a new bill to Xero, I went back to the NEW layout Bills to pay - nothing added, I tried again still nothing. I have to scroll down to find the draft bills at the bottom of the widget. More efficient NO, time consuming YES what a waste of space this new layout is. Wouldn't you think you'd have the Draft bill under the ones already approved not way down at the bottom. It's the same with the Invoices waiting for payment they are right at the bottom.…
72 votesHi everyone, we really appreciate your feedback and the growing support this idea has received. Our product teams have been taking on board all that our customers have shared back on the new Homepage and are currently working on improvements to the sizing of some of the widgets including the Invoices owed to you and Bills to pay widgets - The intention is to provide a smaller widget size in which drafts will be shown beside the chart instead of below, helping the visibility and ease of use as you're after here.
I'll be sure to round back and update you when this is delivered 🙂

Homepage - Lines/border around widgets
I would like lines around the widgets as I find it confusing to see where each one starts and finishes. When I use the edit homepage option the lines are good.
78 votesHi team, thanks for feeding back on my last update, it's good to hear how the contrasting has or hasn't helped solve needs for differing users.
We appreciate further context of your needs here and want you to know this is something our team have still been looking into.
We now have a piece of work underway that when released will show borders around widgets on the homepage 🙂 Though I can't give timeframes for this as yet, I'll keep you looped in on further updates for this here.

Homepage - Ability to remove graphs for invoices and bills
Please include the option to turn off the graphs for the 'invoices owed to you' and 'bills to pay'. I know people might like seeing the visual, but I just want to see the dollar value, and the graph just makes the widget too big so I can't see the other things I want to see at a glance. Thanks.
79 votesThank you to everyone that's joined and shared feedback on our new homepage experience, here. Continuing to review and take this on board our team are working on some updates to the Invoices owed to you and Bills to pay widgets.
The intention is to offer more flexibility in the size of these widgets with the ability to reduce and remove the graph from showing.
I'll come back to share more as this progresses.

Homepage - More Flexibility in Widget Placement
It would be great to be able to place the widgets wherever you want (like before). I would prefer to have all my bank accounts in a column, as opposed to having to have them horizontal
68 votesHi everyone, thanks again for sharing input on widget placement on the homepage.
As mentioned in our last update, once you Edit Homepage and Save the layout this will be saved for that screen size. If you change screens a prompt is also surfaced to explain that you may want to reset and save your layout.
While we don’t have plans to allow vertical stacking at this stage, we're improving the edit experience. This will make it easier to see how changing a widget's position shifts other items on your screen. I’ll let you know as soon as this is released.

New Homepage - Toggle to blur sensitive information on homepage
Homepage PRIVACY - If could could please add a button, close to the top of the page, that allowed for sensitive data to be blurred with one toggle on/off. Sometimes you may still want to login and use something in a more public space, or perhaps show someone something in the system, but you do not want all your figures on display. I think this is quite an important one.
29 votesHiya team, appreciate all the input you've each shared with us on the needs in keeping some information private, and less visible to others that may be working close by.
Understanding the needs here, I'd like to share this is a piece of work our team have picked up and in the initial stages of working through.
I'll be sure to keep you updated as this work progresses, here.

Homepage | Profit & Loss - Common date selections (like report)
Why don't I have the same Time period options in the 'Net Profit and Loss' widget as I do on the actual report page?
I want to be able to see CURRENT month, quarter, etc on my home page and not just previous.
Inconvenient to have to click on the report and then change the time period manually every time I want to see how the month is tracking instead of just having the option directly on the homepage.38 votesHi community, thank you for continuing to add your interest for this idea, and sharing what dat formats would be most useful to you. We've been listening closely to feedback we've received and right now this is one of the improvements our product team are working on. 🙂
We'll be adding a few more date options to the profit & loss widget including; this Month, this Quarter, and this Financial Year. I'll round back to confirm once these are live.

Homepage | Widget for next Payroll
Next Payroll Wiget for Homepage
When the new homepage was launched, I was hoping for a widget that had the link to the next scheduled payroll, the draft amount, the due date, leave to approve, timesheets to approve, last payroll (perhaps), super payments, etc. Layout could be like the 'Bills to pay' widget without the chart. Given that in Australia, SGC will need to be paid each payroll, that draft amount could also be added in the widget, linking to the Super payments module.25 votesHi team, happy to share that this is something our teams are working on at present!
We're developing a Payrun widget to help you keep track of upcoming or current pay runs ☺️
I'll come back to share as it rolls out.

New Homepage - Formatting options in widgets
I wanted to share some thoughts on the latest Xero homepage redesign after seeing a comment that really resonated with me about how much space the widgets are now taking up and how much more cluttered it is now. From a web design point of view, it’s just not intuitive, it’s cluttered and feels way too full, especially compared to the previous version where the widgets sat nicely in the centre and only took up maybe 50% of the page.
I genuinely believe the homepage experience could be dramatically improved with just a few changes:
Simplify the default data shown…
7 votesHi team, thank you for sharing back with us on the new homepage here.
Right now we are working on developing some of the widgets to allow more control of the view and information you see. As an example we are developing the Invoices owed to you and Bill to pay widgets to provide the ability to resize and change the information that is shown.
We will keep you updated on the release of these here.

Homepage - Add Widget For Cash Manager
Adding Cashflow manager view into the dashboard is a helpful view to have. It will not only promote the idea of using the cashflow manager but for those who use it, will start giving dashboard views on cash forecast, balances and risks as cashflow management is an active part of small business users sensitivity.
5 votesHi community, this is an idea we've ben considering and can confirm is in development wth our product team now.
I'll share another update with more information on this once it's live!

Homepage - Net cash movement line overlay for Cash In & Out widget
Add a net cash movement line (cash in minus cash out) overlaid on the Cash In & Out widget.
This would let business owners instantly see whether cash is actually building or eroding over time, without running reports or exporting data.
A net cash overlay (or toggle) would make the dashboard far more useful for real-world cashflow decision-making.
7 votesHi team, with Xero Analytics you'll be able to use the Cash flow manager to get useful predictions of your businesses financial overview, cash in and cash out.
Right now, we're in the process of also developing a widget that can surface some of this information to you directly from the homepage. I'll return to share once this is live. 🙂

Homepage | Invoice owed to you widget - Increase font of 'Drafts'
Please make Draft Invoices in a much larger font and at the top of the widget. The widget is ridiculously large and Draft Invoice link is in microscopic font, lost at the bottom. You have to actively hunt for it. Please don't tell me I can rearrange my home page. I've done that. It makes no difference. This is another unhelpful change forced upon us.
3 votesHi Lou, a little round about to what you're asking here but our teams are working on an improvement to the sizing of some widgets that I believe will help with the feedback you've shared.
We're building smaller size of the Invoices owed to you widget which will feature the drafts option beside the graph so it's more visible. 🙂 I'll come back and let you know once this is released.

Homepage | Invoice and Bills widgets - Option to make smaller
Make invoices to pay & bills boxes smaller these are the two functions I use most & now have to scroll down every time i want to use them
2 votesHiya team, happy to share an update as this is something we're currently working on. Our team are developing the ability to reduce the size of these widgets and more control of the data shown.
I'll round back to let you know once this goes out 😊
- Don't see your idea?
