Hiya team, we have recently released the ability to roll forward journals in new Workpapers.
You'll find this option in the header of the manual journal tab.
It's worth noting as you'll see from the note in my image - While you can set a manual journal to roll forward, this will not roll forward debit and credit values as often these will change year to year.
For the time being, we'll leave this idea open so we can continue to track interest in being able to automatically roll forward manual journals with values. To get more insight of the use case we'd love to hear more detail of situations our customers have where you'd want to roll forward journals with the same values? Thanks!

Hi team, apologies we jumped the gun a touch on the idea here.
Like previously mentioned, right now you can attach documents and links, set flexible workpaper periods, and use basic calculation sheets in the new experience.
Currently our team are exploring how we might further enhance Workpapers with variations for tailored templates, and support direct importing of reports to improve the way data moves across your compliance steps. We'll share as we have more updates for you around this.

Hey everyone as you can see we have split the original Idea up into seperate ideas including:
(New Workpapers - Payroll tax feature)
(New Workpapers - Dividends. 7A Loans feature)
And I have also added your votes to the following similar established Ideas:
(Workpapers - Ability to change the terms in the Borrowing Costs/Amortisation)
(Workpaper | Fringe Benefits - Motor Vehicle private use)
This is so we can monitor interest for each of the features. The Product team will be reviewing these ideas and we will post any updates on these here. Again thanks for your feedback.

Hi everyone, we appreciate how quickly this idea has picked up traction from the community here.
As you've likely heard through other communications we're in the midst of rolling out a unified Client experience as part of our wider Xero Partner Hub.
With the new Client experience you can now;
- Create a client without a TFN, as the Create Client flow has been updated to capture only the basic details
- The TFN can be added later by clicking Edit once the client is created.
- If you do try add a TFN that already exists on an archived client, an error message is displayed - you can get a view of what this looks like in my attachment
Thanks again for sharing with us here and I'll be back to confirm when this new experience is live to all practices.

Hey everyone, thanks for all your valuable feedback and support on this idea here.
It's nice to see tips being shared throughout this thread to help others managing multiple assets. The suggestion to group similar items (like office chairs or laptops) into a single asset with a quantity can be an efficient way to handle things. When you need to dispose of some, you can then perform a partial disposal by updating the quantity, which helps save a few steps.
Wanting to share an update for you all, although I appreciate it will not be the news hoped for - Developing the capability to bulk dispose assets isn't on our current roadmap. We will keep an active eye on the support this continue to build here and be sure to let you know if anything changes here.

Xero currently allows a Primary Contact to be assigned to a client; however, there is no way to run a report or export a list showing the Primary Contact for each client. This represents a significant limitation for accounting and advisory practices.
Why This Is Critical
1. Client Communication and Contact Lists
Practices regularly need to generate client contact lists for practical scenarios, including client communications, compliance matters, and operational outreach. Without the ability to report on Primary Contacts:
- Practices cannot easily confirm which clients have a Primary Contact assigned
- Data gaps and errors cannot be identified at scale
- Xero cannot be reliably used as the source of truth for client contact management
Manual review of individual contacts is not viable for practices with large client bases.
2. Reliance of Integrated Systems on the Primary Contact Field
Many external and integrated systems rely on Xero’s Primary Contact field, including ATO-related tools and document management systems where correspondence is automatically addressed to the Primary Contact.
When practices cannot review or audit this data in bulk, it leads to:
- Incorrectly addressed correspondence
- Increased compliance and privacy risk
- Reduced confidence in automation and third-party integrations
Business Impact
The absence of a reportable Primary Contact field creates:
- Unnecessary manual workarounds
- Increased administrative overhead
- Higher risk of communication errors
For practices managing hundreds or thousands of clients, this is a material operational failure rather than a minor feature gap
