    Totally agree with Kay. Xero appears to be the only payroll platform that doesn't by default include deductions to third parties in the payment report / file. Having to manually pull the deduction amount and then manually make the payment is not efficient and leave room for error. This is critically important that Xero fix this.

    PLEASE Xero get this feature included!
    It has been available in the AUS version for sometime. How hard can it be to update the NZ version? Critically important to NZ employers. Currently the timesheets are limited, which creates inefficiencies. Expanding the timesheet functionality within Xero Payroll would provide immense value.

    Listen to the people who use this product and upgrade to include start and finish times. This is critical. I'm certain that if this enhancement of the product was done, Xero would see a huge uptake in its product.

    Introducing timebands to the NZ payroll would be a huge improvement on the current timesheet. In thier current format the timesheet only allows for total hours to be entered. Unlike the AUS verion where timebands can be entered to show the employee and employer start / finish times / breaks. This is really important to employers prior to approval.
    PLEASE upgrade the NZ version asap.

    The timesheet as it stands is very basic and really needs to be updated to include time bands (start and finish). Australia have this option but not in NZ. Why???
    This is a critial component to time records and is available in many of Xero's competitors software (PaySauce, KeyPay to name a few). PLEASE upgrade asap!

    The current timesheet functionality is very limited with only total hours entererd. Having the ability to enter start and finish times and breaks would dramatically enhance the timesheet app. It seems that this functionality can be used in Australia but not in NZ. About time Xero made it available here!

    Thank you for your engagement and sharing through product ideas, everyone. While we appreciate wanting more flexibility and detail in payroll reports, with payroll development quite separated for each region, and to help our product teams best understand the data that would be most useful for our customers we're going to close this idea and recommend starting ideas for the specific fields that would be helpful in reports and why you'd find this useful.

    This functionality would be great! Often have staff looking ahead to take leave and they need to know if they will have sufficient. Most other platforms that I have used have this functionality.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your suggestions regarding consolidating the information provided in the current leave reports and the suggestion to include a running leave balance.

    We appreciate that the current leave reports in Xero require exporting out of Xero and manual work to track running balances. We hear that this can add time to your workflows.

    After reviewing this idea, we're updating this idea to Not in Pipeline. Whilst we can see the value to you for this particular report configuration, this isn’t an idea that’s on our product teams foreseeable roadmap.

    We know this isn't the outcome you hoped for, and we value your input as it helps us understand what matters to the community. The idea remains open for votes so we can continue gauging interest. We’re constantly reviewing the level of support for your ideas, so will keep you updated if the status changes in the future.

    100% support this suggestion. It's hard to understand why Xero can grant permission for managers to approve leave requests but lacks the functionality for them to approve timesheets for the employees they manage. This seems like a basic feature that is standard in every other payroll platform we use. It creates unnecessary gaps in workflow and oversight, which could easily be resolved by giving managers the same approval authority for timesheets.

    Thanks for your support and joining in this idea. We get the challenges involved in manually chasing up employees to complete timesheets each pay period.

    Although it's not the integrated solution you’re looking for, you could look to set up recurring calendar events or using external communication tools to prompt your team members.

    We want to be transparent that we don't have any plans for adjusting the existing notifications for timesheets.

    We'll continue to monitor this idea, and should our priorities shift in the future we'll let everyone know here.

    Hi everyone, we really appreciate the sentiment and engagement on the idea of being able to forecast leave balances.

    We know this feature could make planning ahead and managing leave approvals much easier, but at this stage it’s not something we’re planning to develop in the near term, so we’ll be moving it to 'Not in pipeline'.

    We’ll continue to keep an eye on how this idea trends in the community and will leave it open for voting. If our plans change, we’ll share an update here.

    Hey team, thanks for your input. We appreciate your needs here, and have a bit of an update. For any organisations that started using Xero payroll in NZ from 5 August 2024, you'll find you can adjust the employee's sick leave entitlement date from their employee record. See more detail around this on Xero Central.


    For all other organisations, don't worry this is also in the works but just has a little more complexity to it, we'll keep you updated of when this is made available to all remaining organisations, here.
