Thanks for sharing your thoughts on bulk allocation of credit notes, everyone. We understand that manually applying credit notes one by one can be time-consuming, and we appreciate wanting a a faster, more streamlined solution.

Currently, while we know it won't be the flow that suits all, it's possible to apply credit notes to multiple invoices for a single contact by opening the credit note and selecting the invoices to apply it to.

Atm, we're in the process of releasing a new experience for Sales Credit Notes. This work will enable us to develop changes like you're asking here longer term. However, the initial release is focused on developing existing features into the new Credit Notes experience. Once this is fully rolled out the team will have more capacity to consider enhancements like bulk allocations, however we want to be upfront that this isn't planned for the short term.

    We…

Agree with what’s already been said here — the manual allocation side of this is painful once you’re dealing with multiple bills and credits.

Where it really breaks down though is the payment step.

You end up having to sort all allocations first just to get to a point where you can run a clean payment, and then double check what’s actually being paid vs offset.

We started looking at this differently — instead of treating allocation as a separate task, handling credits as part of the payment run itself.

That shift removed most of the manual prep and made it much clearer what cash is actually leaving the bank.

We’ve been building this into Batchly (https://batchly.io) off the back of our CFO dealing with this exact issue month after month.

Keen to see if others are approaching it this way or still working through allocations upfront.

This keeps coming up. The pain isn’t just the clicks - it’s that once credits sit outside the batch payment flow, everything gets harder to follow. More prep before the run, more checking after, and more explaining when someone asks what was actually paid.

Feels like the obvious fix is to let bills and credits sit in the same run, show the net payment clearly, and keep the audit detail in the background.

We’ve been working through this in Batchly with a few customers for exactly that reason. Keen to hear how others are handling it.

Hi everyone, our product teams are continuously reviewing and reprioritising their roadmaps for future work and although we don’t have any plans to change the credit application process this year, this is something we will investigate more closely in 2026.

As we begin to explore work for enabling credit notes in the bill payments flow, we’ll reach out for input to help us shape the design and approach so we cater for the widest possible requirements. Thank you all, and we’ll be back to share when exploration starts.

Feels like what everyone wants here is pretty simple - let bills and credit notes sit in the same run, show the net payment clearly, and still keep the audit detail in the background.

We’ve been working through this in Batchly with a few customers because it keeps coming up for anyone dealing with higher-volume payment runs in Xero.
Would be genuinely interested to hear how others are managing it today.

We’re seeing this same issue come up from finance teams running larger payment cycles in Xero. Once credits start getting applied across multiple bills, remittance advice can become hard to follow and teams end up doing extra manual explanation for suppliers.

The main thing teams seem to want is a remittance that clearly shows the bills, credits and net payment together, without needing manual checking outside Xero.

This is something we’re actively working on in Batchly, particularly around clearer remittance reporting and credit note visibility for high volume Xero payment runs. If others here are dealing with the same workflow, I’d be interested to hear how you’re managing it today.

Hi everyone, we very much appreciate the feedback from you on wanting to be able to include more than 50 invoices in a batch deposit.

While this is something we'll continue to review we want to be open that this is not planned in the short term.

In the other side of the coin, we know there are also some in the conversation here that would like to see an increase in the number of bills included in a batch payment and I'd recommend adding your vote and staying tuned to this other idea.

If there is any change or updates around batch deposit volumes I'll be sure to share with you, here.

I’ve had the same issue with a few clients — the 200-bill limit can be a real headache when you’re dealing with big weekly payment runs.

Since Xero hasn’t increased the limit, we ended up building a small tool called Batchly to get around it. It lets you pay more than 200 bills at once and still keeps everything tidy in Xero.

If you want to have a look, just Google “Batchly Xero batch payments” and you’ll find it.

Happy to answer any questions about how it works in practice.

Thanks for your contributions and voting on this idea, community. While we're seriously taking on board your feedback for how and why being able to hold selections across pages would be helpful when processing batch payments, we want to be open that this isn't a focus area for product at this time.

We'll continually reassess ideas where there's opportunity, so please keep adding your votes and interest, here. If there's any development planned we'll be certain to share this with you all.

We hit the same wall with the 200-bill limit. Once you’re doing bigger runs, splitting them and re-selecting across pages gets pretty frustrating.

We ended up building something that plugs into Xero, handles bigger batches (1000+), keeps your selections across pages, and generates one bank file + one set of remittances.

It’s in early access and free while we’re gathering feedback, so if you’re dealing with the same issue it might help:

We’ve also been writing up some practical AP/Xero tips here (not sales stuff, just useful context):

Register your interest, and we will happily show you how it works :)
