  1. New Invoicing should be the same as the classic in that it remembers default settings for emailing like sending yourself a copy and attaching files. Until this is resolved do not discontinue the classic invoicing setup.
    It's going to be very frustrating otherwise :)

    Appreciate your feedback on how you'd like to see new invoicing improved to create more efficiency processing sales with Xero. There are a couple of different requests around defaults looped into this one idea that would be good to unpick and keep separate so we can keep you updated on any progress for each individually. 

    For interest around being able to set a default for the 'Approve and Send' button - There's an idea that's been started for this here that I'd recommend joining.
    Kathy, your recent comment sounds more like the ability to be able to send invoices to a contact group with new invoicing - we totally get the interest in this too and have an idea for this here that you can follow.

  2. New Invoicing - I need to print invoices regularly for counter sale customers. Using new invoicing it used to open a new chrome tab when you clicked Print PDF from there you could print or download the invoice easy.

    In a recent update (See link https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/47646932-new-invoicing-print-pdf-option) the Print button now only allows you to Download invoices.

    Please revert to the old system where printing or downloading took the same number of clicks

    or

    • Change the current Print PDF button to read "Download PDF"
    • Add a new "Print PDF" Button that actually prints the invoice.

  3. I don't want autosave on for invoicing - I use third party software to copy invoice details to a Trello Card, this is triggered when the invoice is saved.
    Auto saving will send the invoice info through to Trello before the invoice is complete, meaning not all the info will be sent to Trello.
    Are we able to turn off the auto save function in new invoicing?

  4. When using the new style of invoicing, it is no longer possible to enter a customer payment which having to click on the receive payment option. Using classic invoicing, the fields to enter the payment are present on the invoice screen. The classic invoicing method is much more efficient when entering a large number of customer invoices, so it would be great if these fields could be added to the invoice screen on the new style.

  5. Can the main pull down bar (Dashboard, Business, Accounting, Projects, Contacts) be fixed at the top of the page? When viewing a screen that has 100 or more lines, it would be a lot more convenient to have immediate access to this than having to scroll all the way back up.

  6. Allow the inclusion of Credit Notes in Batch Payments where the total to be paid to a supplier is still positive. This would allow a single batch for a Supplier to match their Statement, particularly where credit notes are not related to specific Bills.

  7. Xero currently lacks the capability to bulk pay multi-currency invoices. This creates a significant bottleneck for our clients with a default currency of USD who process hundreds of invoices in EUR each month. While it is possible to import invoices in EUR in bulk, marking each invoice as paid individually is extremely time-consuming and inefficient. Please consider implementing a feature that allows users to bulk pay invoices in the same foreign currency. This enhancement would streamline the workflow for businesses handling large volumes of international transactions, saving time and reducing manual effort.

In the "classic invoicing" interface an alert is displayed at the bottom of approved invoices when the contact being invoiced has existing credit that can potentially be applied to the new invoice. This is a very important feature and strangely it's missing from the new invoicing interface. With the "classic invoicing" now being officially retired this basic feature must definitely carry over to the new invoicing interface.

    Without this alert, every time we create an invoice we would need to manually check if the contact has previous credit with us, which makes the process unnecessarily inefficient and unpleasant.

  10. It would be great to have a Direct Debit flag on the Bills area. Especially on the ones waiting payment.
    That would allow us to know if a bill that is waiting payment is Direct Debit and we don't need to act, just wait to reconcile.
    I created a (terrible) mockup and attached it.

  11. The email invoice button on the new invoice template has moved from a main button to now being in a sub menu in the three dots, adding a click to the work flow.

    But Print PDF is still a button on the main invoice template.

    In an era where email is preferred over a printed PDF in the post, it would be nice to retain both EMAIL and PRINT as main buttons on the new invoice system. Seems extra work when you are sending a whole load every day for bigger companies.

    We appreciate wanting to see more rapid movement, everyone. Having done a lot of exploration into this area our team have a good handle on the needs to solve this, however we want to be honest that development will be some time away with the team currently focused on improving bills list views and updating add/edit bill pages. For the time being to keep you up to date we're going to move this idea back to Submitted until more active work takes place for this.

  14. When preparing monthly CIS returns on xero you need to create a bill for the subcontractor and reconcile/mark the bill as paid. When you have clients that have on average 80 to 120 subcontractors the bill creation even with a bill template can be time consuming.
    Something to consider is whether creating a bill could be removed from this process and the CIS return be prepared simply from a spend money to a CIS enable contact.

Currently there is the inability to edit one payment in a batch deposit that was created from the Reconcile screen without dismantling the entire batch (with Unreconcile, and then Remove and Redo). If the batch Deposit is created from the Invoice screen and one line item needs adjusting, we have and option to Edit Batch. This allows for removing one line item of the batch but preserves the remainder of the batch (less the removed line item).   17. Invoicing - Allow Email scheduling to send invoices

    While I like all the features in the invoicing, I don't understand why email scheduling hasn't been included in the makeover. We typically send our invoices out at the beginning of the month (on the 1st if a workday) in which the work/service commences. However, work can be confirmed a few months ahead of that and we usually create invoices once the work is confirmed.   18. Ability to see Header rows and side columns on all screens when scrolling

    As per Microsoft Office where the top and side ribbons remains static.
    e.g. When you're in the Dashboard and scroll down it would be good if the top ribbon is static. It makes it easier to select another item (business; accounting; contact etc) without having to scroll up.

    The same with Bill Payments; Invoicing; reports etc where the top ribbon and column headers - see attached - would remain static as you scroll down the list.

    The same as when you might have a lot of columns…

  19. It would be great to be able to group certain lines of an invoice together (for example by adding some spacing between groups), to make long invoices more readable and logically coherent.

    It used to be possible to add spacing on the Classic invoicing page by pressing Enter a few times on the description field, but this no longer works on the New invoicing.

  20. When Xero are emailing out their invoices please can you go back to attaching the invoices as a pdf as it quicker to be able to forward them rather than having to sign in and save them as draft, especially when you are having to do loads for clients.

    Thanks for sharing back on this, everyone. We'd like to confirm the way the options works now when sending in new invoicing - This is triggered by previous behaviour.

    So, when you send using new invoicing, the selection for 'Attach PDF' is driven by the last invoice you sent. If the last selection was unticked the next invoice you send will automatically be unticked, and vice versa.

    What's worth noting is that this is a browser based setting. For example if you change computers or browsers your setting will revert to default where both options are unticked. As you'll see from my recent update on this similar idea this is something we may explore further down the line but we don't have any immediate changed planned for.
