This would save so much time. I just want the Quote number Customer Name Quote. For example Q3120 Joe Blogs Quote.

It would be great to be able to edit the name of the pdf invoice when sending it out directly within Xero.

I wouldn't hold your hopes up - I've grown old watching most of these go nowhere - 2012 this was raised by themselves. Don't think they've actually got any product managers anymore.

Xero currently does not have the capability to issue Sales Order Confirmations/Acknowledgements. The suggested workaround is to create a Quote Template and rename it as an Order Confirmation. This will only be suitable if the file name is editable, because currently all attachments start with the word ‘Quote’, rendering the workaround inadequate.

I send out Buyer Created Invoices, so it would be great if the pdf, when sending it out, has Buyer Created Invoice and the reference or at least the reference, rather than Purchase Order

Katrin Hilberath commented
It would be great to have the option to automatically use the reference number as a file name.

Yes! I would like this functionality too.

I would also like this feature. The importance of being able to customize the output file name. Although we are using Xero to manage invoices. We manually still send out PDF invoices due to the lack of customization through Xero. We send out invoices in the form
"invoice_company_name__invoice-#_relavent-po-#_description_date"
so that the file name has all the relevant information within its own title. This kind of customization would be a godsend and enable us to stop manually producing and sending out invoices.
This should be fairly easy to edit through the invoice branding theme as well as all other documents.

This is an important update that is required for businesses due to jobs having there own P.O's and if we could save the PDF as a different name it would give companies the ease of matching invoices to the correct P.O's raised with clients.

I am using the PO function as an RCI function and it would save me time and be less effort if I could rename the PDF attachment so that I am not having to save to a file and rename before sending.

Exteremely important to make the whole documentation professional and match with the content of the email - plus utilising the automatic linking via Xero. The Manual process - defeats the purpose of the email automation and adds both labour time and in-efficincies.
Grateful if this can be expediated. Thank you.

For our business, this is critical to facilitate using the automated email function. We currently have to export the PDF invoices, change the filenames and email them manually to our clients. It's incredibly time-consuming and labour-intensive when we could be working smarter.

Hi
We would like to add our customer names onto the PDF names along with the invoice numbers. This make it easier to identify both invoice and customer invoices.

I'd say this is critical but for a slightly different reason. I process a number of self-billing invoices for clients. The Xero process is to adapt the Purchase Order template and use this to create the bill, then email it to Xero so it can be added as a bill on the client account. The one issue is the pdf file still says Purchase Order which isnt great when it goes out to the client. I'm going to adapt the covering email to alert the client to this error, but it isnt great given you can change all other elements and this is the way Xero advise you to process self-billing.

this is something we would also like to see implemented sooner rather than later, we send quite a lot of invoices but the majority are auto generated so not an option for us to manually rename, when i'm processing invoices received its so much nicer when the company name and invoice number is pre included on the attachment.

We'd like the PDF generated filename of a quote (or any invoicing template) to be customizable, e.g. instead of "Quote - QU-001", we need the "Quote" or "Invoice" or any other template part to be called what we'd like. Can this be done?
We have customized our quote templates to be called "Invoice Estimates" instead of quotes (we are in the insurance industry and need customers to pay us on Invoice Estimate initially. We have also changed the automatic prefix on them to be IE instead of QU and changed the wording in the automated Xero email when sending them out. However, the PDF attachment still comes out as "Quote - IE-001", and we want it to say "Invoice Estimate - IE-001".
I see some discussion around this customizable need here in Xero community, but it doesn't seem to have been addressed: https://central.xero.com/s/question/0D53m00005SiOQJCA3/can-i-change-the-invoice-file-name

I have created a RCTI using the Xero Help guide which suggests using a customised theme for Purchase Orders...the only problem is when the RCTI is attached to the email it is saved as a Purchase order with the PO Number...it would be great to be able to rename attachment

When I save an invoice to a PDF it formats the name as Invoice INV-0100, when I save a quote it saves it as Quote QU0078 (even though it is QU-0078), it also saves a PO as Purchase Order PO0235 (even though its PO-0235)
This is inconsistent.
