Invoice - Add notes/comments line item
Ability to add 'comment' only lines on invoices that run the full width of all the invoice table boxes.
Purpose: Users often want to add some comments specifically to a client in the line item.
Hi everyone, understand the difference between a description only line and what's being asked for in the idea here.
This isn't something we have planned at present.
We do want to highlight the existing option for anyone interested that could benefit from the option mentioned earlier in the conversation (thanks, Paco)
Currently, it is possible to 'description' only lines to an invoice (with no Qty or Price) where you can enter up to 4000 characters worth of detail that could help you signal a note within an invoice to your customer.
We will continue to assess ideas in the forum here and let you know if there are any changes surrounding this to share.

Can you please add a section where we can include additional notes — such as details of work completed or any other relevant information — instead of having to place this text in the invoice description? It currently looks out of place there since that section includes columns for Quantity, Price, and Amount. See attached

This was idea was submitted 2012.
THIRTEEN YEARS AGO.
As a programmer, I understand why this has not been implemented, as it's extremely difficult to change the format of the line in the table (especially with custom .docx files) to have either a full line that stretches across the table (merging all the cells) or a standard line with all the individual details.
So here's an idea.
1. The advanced templates will have two table rows in the items loop:
1.1 The first defines the table row design of a comment
1.2 The second defines the table row design of an itemised line2. The PDF creator will choose to use:
2.1 The comment line format if the item quantity is empty or has a value of 0 (zero)
2.2 The itemised line format if it's not zero.I don't even want to be paid for this idea.
But I know it's doable and not too hard to implement, if you've written your code well.So, get it done and see the kudos flow in.

I'm just switching over from kashflow and whilst lots of things about Xero are better, it's a bit dumb not to have the basic function of adding a comment line to an invoice!

Using a line item for a comment or description by not assigning a quantity or price works fine on the pdf version of the invoice. However, on the invoice summary in the body of an emailed invoice a 0.00 value is shown for the comment or description. As I said, this zero value doesn't show on the pdf, but I think it looks strange showing up in the email.

What ****** me off, is that Xero will have the audacity to send a questionnaire to ask for ideas or to find out how wonderful they are. I simply won't waste my time answering them. They have the information they need in their forum.

We need to have the ability to add an additional column to the Sales Invoice Template.
When we are already utilising the Item and Description column, we for example need to add a Barcode field as well. I would presume that this is a frequent requirement for other businesses.
In addition, there should be a specific PO field in addition to the Reference field. -

With the update to the new invoicing, the "description/note" lines as used before are no longer possible as it now puts 0.00 in the amount for every line.... unless i'm doing it wrong?

I would like to draw the customer's attention to an attached document where an approval has been received that allows the invoice to be issued. This could be in the form of a comment associated with the line.

How can every other platform have the ability to add notes to an invoice, but Xero doesn't support it or even consider looking into it. Surely this issue gets resolved soon. Yes you can add notes in the description line but it looks quite unprofessional when you look at other softwares invoices and how tidy they are with a separate spot for work notes. Its really disappointing on Xero's behalf

How does it make sense for a quote to support additional context in the form of a description only for it to disappear when you copy it to an invoice? This is really basic, is it not?
