Reconciliation - Edit bank account for bank transactions (spend, receive, transfer, or payment)
Ability to edit a bank account without having to delete the transaction and then re-enter it in the correct account.
Purpose: Save time from deleting the transactions and entering them from scratch in the correct account.

my sales system creates the prepayments, but it is costantly posting them to the wrong bank account it would be helpful to change this in a created prepayment to avoid removing and redoing the full prepayment.

It would be great to edit a client payment instead of remove and redo.
Also, be able to apply receive payment to an invoice.

You can edit everything in a spend money and receive money transaction apart form the bank account - this is nonsense and reading the comments below I can not believe this change has not been actuated already. It is particularly important when you use Hubdoc or similar as the copy transaction alternative means you lose the attached document in the correction so you have to remove and redo and go back and identify the transactions in Hubdoc and re-sync. Madness!

It is easy enough to copy the transaction to correct the bank used, however, since most of the transactions now have a file attached via HubDoc the job becomes impossible. It should be possible to change the bank as suggested without deleting or re-creating anything.

I'm just starting using Xero, and already I'm questioning my choice having discovered I can't do this...

This would be super helpful. My client set up Stripe transactions to be allocated to the wrong bank account. It has resulted in doubled up transactions and a big tax mess to sort out.

This would be super helpful

This would be really helpful as I import transactions from a CRM and I dont always catch the anomalies. It means I have to change the transaction in the CRM and Xero.

You can edit the bank account but only if it's a batch payment. If you remove and redo, the transaction is gone and you need to start over eg. uploading the transaction from the data capture software again which can be time consuming.
Xero needs to up their ante in order to compete with other accounting packages such as QBO. Sure there is already a function in Xero to be able to re-code general ledger transactions - account, GST code etc. Why can't it be the same with bank accounts?

I could not agree more! This is a basic feature that is missing. Quickbooks does this particular function perfectly. Why can't Xero update this feature as customers have been asking for 3 years for them to do? It's not a difficult programming change/update.

This update is well past-due! It should be a simple change to swap a transaction to a different bank account. I have spent hours using remove & redo to correct a series of transactions entered in the wrong account.

Yes! A simple thing but can be a real time saver.

It can be done in Quickbooks without having to start all over. It’s especially frustrating after entering 10 lines to an invoice to have to start all over. I’d like to please make an official request that Xero add the ability to change payment methods without needing remove and redo. This is such a simple add, I can't believe it hasn't been done already.

Coming from Quickbooks, I would have thought this was a given... when you're manually entering data and get into a groove you may overlook switching the account - having to delete and re-enter data is a waste of time and frustrating.

Any news on the progress of this??? Please... It is really needed.

Totally agree! This is a much needed feature. Quite honestly Xero is the only software I have come across that doesn't have this option. It is a common error that people make, and not having this feature adds a lot of unnecessary time to working on a file.

Too much of Xero is based on clients using bank feeds and not enough recognition that this may not always be suitable for businesses. Where a client has cash income it needs to be manually input so if this is incorrectly entered to the wrong bank account it's a lot of work to re-input, a simple ability to move the transaction from one 'bank' account to the other is essential. Lack of features like this makes me as an accountant recommend other systems above Xero.

I know from a friend using QuickBooks that this option is available for them.
Xero needs to align on this with other products in the market -

appears this issue has been on Xero's radar since October 2012 and after nearly 11 years, the functionality is still not possible!? disappointing :(

Yes this would save loads of time!
In addition, clients using the Xero Mobile App to upload receipts sometime upload business receipts paid for personally but forget to choose the “I want to be repaid” rather than the Company bank account.
It would be great if I could either:
• Recode the Spend money transaction to the “Directors Current Account” (payments to this account are enabled), or
• Find & Recode – use this to recode them all at once to the DCA.At the moment I have to cancel them and re-enter as Expenses on the directors supplier account and then clear to their DCA.
