Files - Bulk export/print attached files
Ability to export and print files from Xero in bulk.
Purpose: To have backup files and audit purposes.
Thanks for your expressions and feedback in a bulk download or print facility for Files (either from the Files library or at an individual transaction level)
We know that bulk operations can be handy, however at this time we have no plans to develop this functionality. We know it might seem like a small feat, however often even small change is more tightly woven and intricate to solve beneath the surface.
While we understand this must be frustrating to hear, we’re currently focused on making improvements in other areas of Xero and are unable to prioritise a bulk download or print feature right now.
However, in situations like these there are often connected apps through the Xero App Store that may be able to assist. We appreciate and will revise solutions that could fulfil needs in this space, but want to be honest this isn’t something we have plans for right now.

A new Xero add-on has launched to download attachments in a ZIP file: Cashdash: https://www.cashdashapp.nl
It can be used for invoices, bills and bank transactions. -

Could you please confirm that there is indeed no option to export the attachments by the end of the day? It's frustrating to be provided with a link to view when there's no way to download the attachments. This ends up being a waste of my time.

Considering the law around responsibility and record retention surely this is an essential?

I've been using Xero for a number of years now and have multiple companies using it so we pay quite a bit per month. We've recently closed a company down and find that we can't save all the attachments for the required 7 years by HMRC when we export the data. It's a completely ridiculous omission by Xero not to address this as a priority and I can only imagine they haven't done it to keep people paying. Shame on you Xero. I'll be looking to take my business elsewhere as a result. Fortunately we already have most attachments saved elsewhere otherwise this would be a massive problem and will be for most Xero users in the future.

If making comment, or reading and agree, please also ensure that you vote for this idea as well. It is currently sitting just outside the top ten requested improvements. It is time for Xero to see how important this is to us all

This won't be helpful for many people, but just in case it helps one person....When I found you can't download the files from Xero, I started using Hubdoc, which is seriously limited and clunky but you can easily download files from it - I keep the invoices etc in folders within Hubdoc and download whichever ones I need, whether receipts to go with recharged disbursements, or the monthly purchase invoices. It's not the best, but better than nothing. The main issue I have is not being able to download sales invoices without "printing" each one to a PDF - such a waste of time! These substantial omissions from a basic book-keeping system are crucial to everyday accounting and auditing - but I guess that's what you get from making assumptions on what would be included as standard on an accounting package that claims to be the answer to an accountant's prayers.......

Why would this not be a priority? This would be super helpful. We got audited, we had to download each individual attachment for a whole year, big bloody pain and took so long.

We have created Numerint that allows you to export Xero attachments with a backup CSV, take a look here to see if it could help you. https://numerint.com/

This is a very important function. We need it.

The ability to export receipt attachments in bulk format by means of a date range is very important to my organization. I see there is a "files" section but it doesn't include the files I've uploaded as receipts. Please make it possible to have the files I uploaded available so I can bulk download.

Just going through the 30 day demo and this is a glaring omission. I'm required to send receipts separately from my invoices so I cannot attach them. If I have to go and download each receipt individually this program is not going to save me time with receipts which was the main reason for trying to 30 day demo. Hopefully the high number of votes will show the importance of this feature. There is already the bulk "Move" option, so why not bulk download.

Xero don’t care and won’t help, as per their response they posted on the thread. The system is not fit for purpose and should not be used.

Our client is moving from Xero Go to Xero standard, not having the ability to seamlessly move across, also no bulk download of the bulk export / print attached files is frustrating - also what are users supposed to do if they cease to use the software but rely on storage, UK legislation requires keeping documents for 7 years?

I just finished a 30-day trial of Xero. I was impressed and thought I'd continue, but having just discovered this glaring deficiency, I will have to change my mind.
It's not just the lack of the feature, it's the response to all these critical requests over the past couple of years. It's plain and simple proof that Xero does what it wants and not what its customer wants. This is the 11th most requested feature here, and they still won't tackle it. BTW, this feature is available from Xero's competitors. Even the ones that charge a lot less for their monthly plans.

Only 15 more votes for this item to be in the top ten listed ideas. Will this change Xeros attitude to this request? How Xero can ignore what is effectively a legal requirement, when designing an accounting solution that is being sold as automatic and saves time. To quote the website "Get copies of documents and key data stored into Xero automatically." - but does not mention you will not be ble to get it out again with ease!

Clearly Xero have prevented this function from being available to make it frustratingly difficult to leave them. I'm only wanting to move from one Xero account to another but without this function it makes the process a long winded awful experience.

Considering Taxpayers requirements to keep files for 5 years then clients effectively loose all docs on close of their files. If XERO cant provide the bulk ability to down load attached docs in a meaning full manner then they need to provide the XERO file in read only file for 5 years past the date of stopping the file

Latest response received from "Xero Support" in repsonse to an email to CEO.xero.com
Xero not interested in this feature
Hi Jeff
Thank you for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to see your feelings on this feature not yet being available. As you have seen, we don't currently have an option to export all files and attachments from Xero in a single operation. I can absolutely see how this would be beneficial and, if not already done, I would highly encourage you to vote and contribute to the discussion on our Product Ideas forum.
Our Product Ideas page is the best place to express opinions and vote for suggested features. While this isn't the only deciding factor, the popularity of discussions is a major contributing factor to our Product Team's decisions around the future development of Xero - and more popular ideas will heavily influence the decision making around future updates.
At current, we don't have any immediate plans to develop this feature as our Product Team are currently prioritising the development of other areas of Xero. I appreciate this may be disappointing and frustrating to hear.
In the meantime, should you wish to use this functionality, you may find this is available through one of the app partners on our app marketplace.
I've included a link to an article for more information on linking and and connecting apps to your Xero organisation.
Xero Central article: Using connected apps with Xero
Kind regards
Jason

Bulk download is a critical requirement for any auditing or HMRC request. If we decide to migrate to a different service, we would have to pay an individual to literally download over 5 years worth of individual receipts from all our staff members.
Absolutely crazy that this is not a function available.

some clients insist on this evidence. Do I have to pay an admin staff member to search through and download every single receipt attached to Xero Me expense claims? Seems odd to pay for that service then not receive basic access and outputs.
