Critical feature. It is almost ten years since 'Xero Team' raised this feature request?

Could someone from the company please comment on their view on this feature? (i.e., we will never implement it / it is low priority for us / we hope to release it soon).

Very important, to assess accuracy of bookkeeping and GST %

Having to download each receipt for an expense report is so time consuming and tedious but necessary. There has to be a better solution

i would love to have an other form of uploaded file backup.
Save them all to a hard drive, sync them to onedrive etc

This issue has now become critical for me, I hope Xero can implement this function soon.

Hi - I need a way to export receipts attached to expenses. We often recharge these to our clients and exporting scores of expenses one by one is a very inefficient way of achieving this. We might as well go back to our old Excel spreadsheets...

I agree with what I've read below - this would be a very useful function, presumably linked to an "Accounts Transactions" or similar report where one column would show if there are attachments, and so items for download could be selected from this. I'm not a technical expert in any way but it feels to me like this shouldn't be too challenging to set up

In regard to your comment, "I seriously feel that some consumer legal action be taken against Xero for this flagrant and deliberate avoidance of adding this obvious compliance audit requirement", perhaps there is a way to do something like this? Bringing together all the passionate people on this thread and perhaps even using our accountants who have networks to bring together interested parties and put pressure on Xero. I will certainly be suggesting this to our accountant...

Yes totally agree Alejandra. Problem is what we do about historical data that we have every right to be able to backup and download. I was misled when I started using Xero that if everything is in there I don't need to have it saved separately. How wrong that advice was! What if Xero gets hacked? Am I exposed in the case of a tax audit? So I am currently going through the laborious process of collecting back all that info and saving it separately. This has made me very upset with Xero to have to waste my time like this because of their attitude on this issue. So upset I don't want to remain with them...

It doesn't look like Xero has the intention of incorporating this feature anytime. I followed the suggestion of another user, and have been saving my support separately in Sharepoint. No use waiting around for xero to implement the feature.

bulk download is very much needed

Message to Xero: I originally commented on this earlier this year and now having read through recent comments and frustrations, as well as perspectives on your (Xero's) attitude towards not wanting to incorporate this feature I feel so angry about it that I too, will be saving all my files separately in preparation to stop using Xero. Totally outrageous!! I will also actively discourage anyone I know from joining up and encourage people already using it to switch. Let's all vote with our $$ and leave.

We absolutely should be able to export bulk files from Xero. This is a critical backup function. In this day and age of hacking we need to be able to back up files easily.

I have only just found out that this feature is not available - how can this be when we are given to understand that all you have to do these days is upload a photo of your receipt and hey presto, all the work is done for you - and a copy of the receipt/invoice is held as a PDF against the transaction - all great until you need to retain copies for audit / VAT inspection / retention of files at company closure etc. Then I'm told I have to go and download each receipt/invoice individually - for hundreds of items??? I wish I had kept all the original documents in files now, like I used to before the "digital" age....I'm at a complete loss here as to why I can't download all the PDFs....??????

The idea is not to fly away but adhere to mandatory requirements. Google provides full data export (well in a ****** .json format) so Xero shall abide. If the product is good and prices competitive, people / companies will stick around.

This has been brought to Xero’s attention years ago and they simply ignore the poor rubes that are locked into their system. They obviously don’t have much faith in their own system - because they think people will leave in droves if this basic feature is introduced.

Could someone in New Zealand find a regulation that would enforce Xero to implement such feature? It's not a nice to have, companies must be able to bulk export data from critical systems.

It would certainly save a lot of time, as we prepare a PDF (source documents/bill and approval audit trail from ApprovalMax) of all bills paid in the batch for review prior to release in the bank by our Directors. As they may not have necessarily been involved in the approval process of each individual bill so therefore would like sight of it before approving the bak transfers.

Need to be able to export all attachments associated with billable/reimbursable expenses. Clients need the supporting documents. Downloading them one by one is highly inefficient Lots of duplication of effort
