Reporting - Option to add account numbers & zero balances to financial statements
Ability to have to have a check box for "Include Account Numbers" and "Include or Omit Zero balances".
Purpose: Because it demonstrates completeness to show that the balance actually is zero

Hi everyone, as of today the ability to show nil(zero) balance accounts in reports is live to all users!
To confirm, there are 2 ways to turn this on. Either through a blanket selection in the Report preferences, or via a toggle on and off option within the 'More' menu of the following reports;
- Balance Sheet
- Profit & Loss (Income Statement)
- Statement of Cash Flows - Direct Method
- Trial Balance
- Cash Summary
- Movements in Equity
- Blank report
- And, Report templates
As we close out this idea, we want to say a big thank you to everyone that's shared their interest in this with us overtime.

It is normal for Xero to ignore suggestions by Users. Look at all the suggestions where there are over 500 supporters however Xero ignore it or provide a sanctimonious response.

I can't believe this isn't a key function already. Demonstrating that a balance sheet account balance IS actually 0 when it's supposed to be is critical. We shouldn't have to explain to our clients "oh if you don't see it at all that means it has a 0 balance."
It's insane to me that people have been asking for this for over a year now and nothing has been done.

This is critical for all the reasons mentioned.

This is critical to our integration with our close software

It would also make completing some templates needed more efficient, as the formatting would be the same as the format required, instead of having to copy and paste individual cells.

Such a pain in the neck not to have this. Have to spend 10-15 minutes each time I export to move things around in excel. Every time! Please add this!

This is a major deficiency, specially when dealing with consolidated reporting and budgeting.

This is a fundamental requirement for consolidation and report generation. Please add an ability to run reports with Zero balances

I need to create a specific report using the data in XERO by exporting the XERO T/Balance into EXCEL. I can see how to do this however I want the exported report to include the XERO accounts with a zero balance. I can then automate the process of grouping accounts in EXCEL to create a specific report. The exported T/Balance will have ALL cells in it in a standard order, be their data in them or not, at all times allowing for my report to capture the cell data on all occasions to create the management report. take the T/Balance.
I hope this maks sense! -

Really would like zero balances to be included so that each report is the exact same format for ease of comparison. It can be frustrating as if you could see the zero you would easily be able to verify this, however, without it I always worry it may be a mistake and have to spend additional checking within chart of accounts that it is in fact zero. Surely would be pretty easy to implement this?

This is a basic function available in even the oldest of accounting packages. Xero is so far behind the pack with some things.
When trying to consolidate 45 different companies into excel, we need a report that comes out consistently every time. Xero fails to understand that its system is essentially a database and should be capable of extracting data as such.
They have tried to dumb it down so much to cater for non-accountants, that it is useless for accountants and analysts -

The way we've had to deal with this to get month by month consistency is to export the Chart of Accounts to Excel into Column A and B on Sheet 1, then Sheets 2 - 13 are your monthly TBs exported from Xero. Sheet 1 columns C to N are your months with a VLOOKUP(INDIRECT(text)) command. Far too complicated for most users. My experience with Xero is that they have a marketing department but no customer support or developers.

I don't understand why this basic functionality hasn't been added to Xero. I can't imagine it is that difficult a change to make and it would make every users life easier.
I agree with the last comment in so far as these comment/ideas/votes appear to be ignored. I suspect there are lots of ideas in the system saying the same thing and a lot more users who don't bother to comment or vote.I can only assume Xero don't really care so long as their sales are healthy. It is very frustrating.

As a new user of Xero, I have just discovered this issue while creating my custom reports and it's a total pain..
There seems to be a few areas where basic functionality is not good in Xero. Unfortunately, looking at this and other threads I'm not sure how much difference voting and commenting actually make. If feels like it's just a way of deflecting users comments and issues, without actually taking up any of Xero's staff time. It seems this idea was first posted in 2014.......

It is critical to have the option to include all account numbers in financial reports as it will make it possible to quickly consolidate multiple companies' reports.

This would be a great option to have when you are exporting the same reports for different departments its important to see the 0 value, so each report is in the same format
-
Jack Martin commented
I would love this option, as financial statements look incomplete without including all accounts, and the board cannot verify that the accounts sits at zero balance.

Pretty sure this used to exist and pretty lame of Xero that it doesn't now. 97 voted starting in 2014. What does it take? Additional purposes include ease of exporting the same report structure multiple times throughout a year to connect with budgets in google sheets and showing all accounts makes it much easier to semi-automate the process.
