Purchase Orders - Physical Address as default delivery address
Ability to make Physical address as default delivery address when creating Purchase orders.
Purpose: It’s saving users time rather than change the address manually.
Hi all 👋 thanks for sharing this idea and contributing your feedback on how it would help save time and reduce delivery errors. This has all been sent to and considered by our product teams.
I wanted to jump in here to share that this is a feature that our team are looking to develop in Purchase Orders in the long term - there are a few other pieces of work lined up before. We'll shift to Under review and keep you updated of any progress, here.
In the meantime, one way to make the physical address the default delivery address when creating purchases orders is by using a Custom DOCX branding theme, and either use the relevant merge fields, or even enter the default address in plain text on the template. You might then have a separate ‘normal’ theme if you want some orders to go to the Postal Address instead. We have help about how you can create an advanced invoice template that you can draw into.

The "Attention" and "Phone Number" fields of the delivery address can't be edited. This is frustrating when a manager has left the company and I need to manually edit the name and phone number field of the delivery address whenever I create a purchase order.

This has been a problem for a number of years, and this is all we get as a resonse... Just getting your customers to do your work for you. Like debugging the 'new invoicing' and we all know how that's going - it's not!!

Gosh XERO - you are taking a long. . . . time to sort this issue out. I don't have time to look up using make a Custom DOCX branding theme, I would just like this problem sorted out. . . .

We have a large client that has to change every PO. The option to set the delivery address as default is a huge time saver, if someone forgets to change, it can delay delivery.

I've been sending purchase orders out for over a month, not realising that the default was our post office box address. Having to remember to alter the address for every purchase order is annoying and very easily forgotten, especially when in a rush. Everything we raise a purchase order for should be going to our warehouse and not the post office box.

I support this change wholeheartedly. I can't quite work out why such a basic, logical function isn't quickly and easily implemented by the developers after numerous and long asked for requests. C'mon Xero!

Great work, listening to your clients. Not. It's already been a long term problem and now you come up with the suggestion of a work-around which is possibly going to be in the too-hard basket for many! I guess everyone will have to wait another few years....

Dear Xero
I support this idea. It definitely would save a lot of time and would automate the process. It also makes sense to have the default address the 'physical' location of the company - not the PO Box which is what is what currently gets defaulted to each time, even if we update it.We request and support this change being made.
Thank you.

This is so necessary! I can't believe they don't get the basics like this right.

Please could we have the option to select our own default delivery address, having to change it from the PO Box to the physical address every time will save time, and reduce errors being made when sending out PO's.

This has caused issues for us a number of times, when we are importing large goods from overseas, and if we've forgotten to select our physical address in the drop down menu, we've had issues getting the stock from the post office and additional charges. This really should be a basic option to set a default delivery address please.

I logged this a few years ago (at least 3, maybe 4). Sooooo frustrating that Xero don't listen to so many of their clients who have the same problem!

Amen to Jaco's comment! Why in the world would you want physical items delivered to a box number rather than to the physical address.

Jaco Konig commented
Why would you send anything to the postal address (except for post)? Makes no sense

Seems bizarre this still isn't possible. Surely there should be some way to toggle the default

I've been caught out a few times by not changing the delivery address from PO Box to physical location. The physical location makes better sense for the default delivery address.

Kim Reeves commented
Causes much inconvenience as our postal address is a PO Box - definitely not a delivery address.

Annalee Boakes commented
This is a no brainer - very minimal (if any) suppliers would send products/orders to a mailing address, as they are often a PO Box.

Not just time saving at the time of creating the Purchase Order but avoids the obvious problem of forgetting to change it!
