Not having this is crippling. It's such a basic feature that is offered by Xero's competitors. It's extremely important to our organization.

Add a permissions level between IO and Standard - the gap is far too wide. Its all or nothing.
I need my admin to be able to run certain reports but not see them all, so I need to be able to select the report.
However I don't want them to have access to bank statements.
Currently its all or thing so they nothing which doesn't help me.

This is certainly an issue for our company. With only 3 admin staff currently, we need more flexible access/blocking of particular reports because staff need access to general reports but not higher level reports such as Profit and Loss which is confidential company information.

We changed over to Xero in April 2022 and discovered that this was also a major problem for us too.

Over the past year we have discovered there are so many 'missing' aspects from Xero that are fundamental to accounting roles and functions.

It is so time consuming having to generate reports for the staff that are processing the sales and purchase invoices because we can't give them their own access - unless we want them to have access the bank accounts (which is ridiculous).

I don't understand why Xero haven't realised this already. It's such an obvious and basic need for staff to be able to carry out their role fully.

If only Xero had done some research to find out if this is a requirement for the majority of businesses.
At 109 votes it seems pretty important, but how many votes are needed before it is seriously considered by Xero?

The fundamentals desperately need improving in Xero and seem to keep getting ignored whereas the cosmetic improvements that are not needed are being deployed freely - confusing?!

We have just changed over to Xero and this is also a huge problem for us. The user with rights to invoice and do bills cannot get access to the reports for Customers and Suppliers - so I must each time print the reports which is wasting my time?

This is really needed and seems to have been around for quite as while with no response from Xero.

Crazy that you can't allow access to some reports but not all. It looks like from the other comments that we are not the only company that needs sales users to be able to access reports relevant to them but not the full company financial reports, budgets etc.

It would be great if users with Invoice only roles could also have access to specific sales reports. It is not very productive if they constantly have to ask someone else to run the reports they need to perform their duties.

Maybe for each report, the advisers can assign who can viewed that respective report.

AP summary & details can viewed by who handle Ac Payable role.
AR summary & details can viewed by who handle Ac Receivable & respective sales personnel.

Inventory details report for people handle inventory.......and so on.

It is troublesome that only the advisers can pull report for other department as and when is needed.

It would be really helpful if we could give staff access to individual reports

I need the sales team to see their profit and loss reports and a custom report on client spending areas. I am not able to do this, so another group has to download the data every time it is asked for and send it off to the person requesting it. This is causing so much admin within the company

Please can we get this addressed? or does anyone know of a plugin which can pull this data without manual use?

My colleague always need to check AR & AP ageing. However they do not have the access to REPORT. They always need finance people to pull the data for them which adding burden to finance colleague who is buzy with other task.

I wish Xero can provide an option to restrict access to the financial statements because it is sensitive data.
Kinda silly that we can allow users to see all of the invoices including the outstanding ones but he/she cannot access the age debtors or see the list of creditors in a report format.

Not why this was never thought in the first place!

At what point will Xero ever respond? I've been using Xero for years, but not being able to have a "bookkeeper" role, or run A/R, A/P or sales reports per department is a real roadblock. This has been a wish list item for 7 years, and not one reply from them on this. Pretty disappointing. We've been a client since 2012/13, and now we're looking for alternatives just because of this issue.

This will help current Xero Organisations and might sway others to join.

AP Rple (Invoice+ user) needs to be able to issue remittances for batch payments, however they do not need access to the reporting functions.

Please Xero look at this as the current user roles, are not adequate

Whenever anyone asks my experience of Xero, I tell them that it's great for single business owners / single bookkeepers, but has serious shortcomings when it comes to distributed roles. Until Xero fixes the really basic requirements of different users being able to access only "their" areas of Xero, I steer people away from it. Unsure why accounting firms continue to recommend it, knowing of these serious shortcomings.

Have changed over to Xero on the basis of recommendations from two accounting firms.

Totally amazed that we are unable to restrict financial management information across our staff list. This is Bookkeeping 101.

Comments from other users indicates that Xero seem to be doing nothing about this basic requirement.

This is causing a major issue for the business. Maybe we'll have to give Xero away.

I've been in touch with xero support on this - Tori kindly replied : The only action I can do here is pass on your feedback to our Product team. I've had a look at the votes and comments on Xero Product Ideas and I can see the frustration from not only yourself but other users of Xero.

Of course the difficulty is that Xero is ideal for small business owners but unable to cope with workforce segmentation eg with A/R / A/P roles requiring access only to aspects of Xero specific to their areas (eg reporting, not bank recons).

HI Everyone, I posted this 7 years ago, and there was little followup from other users. Xero looks at these, and takes the ideas that have the most votes to see if something can be done, so the more votes we get, the better.
I think as businesses are growing, it has become a problem with internal security that Xero hadn't even thought about, so every time some one votes or messages on here, I get notified, and I am sending it to my account manager.
Just to make sure they are aware of it - trying to be as 'in their face' as possible.
