They cannot have access to confidential info?

Thanks for sharing and showing interest in how we can develop user roles to suit your needs when using Xero.
With many varying ideas for roles and permissions in different areas of our products, user roles impact all areas of the product. There are many factors we must consider when addressing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.
We’re in the process of conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. This being one of our highest voted ideas surrounding roles is a specific focus for the team. too.
Discovery of this work is its first stages and will be long running. There will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We value our customers input and would like to…
An error occurred while saving the comment Linda De Beer commentedGood day this is really a huge problem for us. Now our creditors and debtors controllers have access to all our bank account balances because they need to print reports. Bank accounts should be a separate role so that it can be taken off from certain users. Please Xero - my CEO just informed me we have to change to another system if Xero cannot comply with this

Hi everyone, we appreciate wanting to hear from us on this idea and apologies for not commenting sooner. I can assure you this has not gone unnoticed and internally there have been reviews and discussions for how batch payments can be improved. We have the appetite, but as with all developments this must be weighed up and considered against many other important changes needed in product.
We want to be upfront that developing the ability to include Credit notes in Batch payments has not been planned at this stage.
As some may have seen, we do have work going on around being able to include Credit Notes as part of the reconciliation process. We understand for many on this idea the timing of including credit notes when you’re creating the batch payments is crucial, however we hope that when delivered at least being able to reconcile these more efficiently…

We thank you all for sharing in the idea here, and understand there are many permissions that our Xero customers would like to provide on a more incremental basis. As you'll all know access to bank accounts is available to users with Adviser, Standard or limited access to those with Read Only roles - You can see more of the breakdown in our article here
With much of the teams resource drawn to work on the platform that'll continue to help us with the 'building on beautiful' experience for our customers we want to be upfront that there are no direct plans for altering the user permissions in this space just yet.
User roles and individual permissions within a bank account will be in the limelight once much of the platform upgrades are complete, but this is some way off atm. We'll return to share when there's any…

Hi everyone, thanks for the interest in this idea.
As you can appreciate, user roles span across the entire Xero product so there’s many combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. Specifically, our reporting product team is very much aware of the challenges with the current permission sets relating to sharing individual reports with different users and are beginning to look into how we might be able to alleviate some of these reporting challenges.
However, at this stage it’s far too early to anticipate or confirm any direction on where this discovery work will lead, but it will inform our next steps. Additionally, as I'm sure you can appreciate there are sensitivities of data access and security. Creating upgrades to user permissions will need very careful consideration. As most will be across, the reporting team are leading up to retiring older versions of Xero’s reports on 31…
An error occurred while saving the comment Linda De Beer commentedThis is really a critical issue for us as well! We are new Xero users but I would say if you have invoice and billing only rights at least you must have acces to the Customer and Supplier bill activity reports so that they can reconcile with the account statements of the suppliers especially? Please please Xero it must not be so difficult for you guys to do this?
Linda De Beer supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Linda De Beer commentedWe have just changed over to Xero and this is also a huge problem for us. The user with rights to invoice and do bills cannot get access to the reports for Customers and Suppliers - so I must each time print the reports which is wasting my time?

Thanks for your feedback on the thread. Though not useful for all, we did bring attention to the reports that could help some people in the forums here.
We'll continue to consider this and other ideas for customer statements as the platform evolves.
Again not a full resolve but another option that could be handy for some is the inclusion of the Outstanding bills link when sending individual invoices to your customers. Through this, persons of a contact will be able to view and get detail of the invoices they have outstanding with you at any given time.

If the user permissions are not updated soon we will have to move to Quick Books or something else we cannot operate like this. To allow an Creditors Controller to print reports needed for reconsiling creditors we now have to give her access to our whole banking/accounting....what happened to confidentiality. Please Xero can you do something about this
