Email Settings - Specify date/time to send transactions
Ability to specify date/time when users’ want to send emails from Xero.
Purpose: So clients/customers can receive the email during the working hours and not at random time.
Hey everyone, we've seen all your votes and comments, and we totally get it – not being able to schedule one-off invoices or pick specific send times is a real pain point. Your feedback makes it clear how much time it costs you and how it can affect your client relationships.
Right now, repeat invoice templates go some way to providing some automation. But we know that's not quite what you're asking for when it comes to those one-off invoices or more precise timing for all your emails.
The good news is, our product team is digging in to the work that'd be needed to develop a solution, and figuring out the best way to make this happen. While we can't give any promises just yet, please know that your feedback is a huge part of this discovery process. Keep those comments and votes coming!
We'll post another update here as soon as we have more news to share.

Excited to read the update yesterday from Diya Jolly, Chief Product Officer, as was expecting to see this much supported idea (619 votes) finally be implemented.
Instead, a product idea with 210 votes, "Speed up invoices in the Xero Network", was announced.
@Hannah G/Admin, you said in January 2024 "Rest assured that our eyes are on the ground monitoring your feedback and votes here, so please keep adding them in this thread". But it's reasonable to assume that the feedback isn't been monitored, or, worse, not a priority to Xero the organisation, even though it's a feature, albeit basic, that your client base wants and needs.
Can we please get a response from Xero on this. It's almost unthinkable that there still isn't a basic "schedule invoice in advance" feature. Or is there and 619 of us have missed something?

While recurring invoices currently exist in Xero, it would be valuable to have functionality that allows users to schedule one-off invoices for future dates with flexible send times.
Example:
A user creates an invoice today for a job scheduled on August 20, 2025.
Once the job is completed, the invoice should be automatically sent at a pre-set time such as:
- Immediately after job completion
- By the end of the same business day
- First thing the next morning
This would help service-based businesses streamline post-job billing and reduce manual follow-up, while maintaining accurate timing for customer communication and cash flow management.

Lovely. Got the email yesterday to inform us that the price is going up another $8. Annual price increases but no new notable functionality and no attention to things customers need. I'm starting to look for alternatives.

I would simply like to be able to set an invoice that is not a recurring invoice to be sent on a day that I schedule it to be sent. This means I could set it up and then forget about it, rather than manually having to come back and send it.
Also, I would like the service description on recurring invoices to update automatically each month to save having to manually change it each month, e.g. Digital Services 1st Aug to 31st Aug to change automatically to Digital Services 1st Sept - 30th Sept when the new recurring invoice is sent out in September.
These two things would save me a load of time if they were automated instead of me having me having to manually change them every month.

When emailing out invoices can you please add a 'schedule date and time selection'. This would be a really helpful tool for preloading invoices into the system, especially for staff leave coverage.

@Hannah G, is there a progress list somewhere of requested features? There are a lot of frustrated customers here (including myself) and I expect for some of us, some of that frustration could be mitigated were we able to see progress. Even if it wasn't a feature request I had voted for, to know that the team was working on some requested feature(s) would be of help.

This is one of the most fundamental features an accounting system could have. There are several thousand people who have requested this feature and yet you just ignore them.
You make other features that a huge amount of us don't even care about. It is so hard to get any help from you which I find appalling Directing people to an online forum is a cop-out. This is such a shame as for the most part, you have a brilliant product.
Might you please explain why other online accounting systems have this capability but you won't entertain the idea of making it happen in Xero?
As per usual, I don't expect a reply.

Waited years for this very simple feature to be implemented, and it seems that Xero are only interested in making more and more money without investing anything in their product.

The ability to pre-schedule the sending of invoices would allow me to create the invoice when I have an easy day before EOM and have it send at the right time when I'm juggling a billion things during EOM. Especially when EOM coincides with payroll, there's rarely time to get everything done, and sending invoices is lower priority than paying people, which then has knock-on effects on cashflow.

I've been sent here from a previous idea - Schedule invoice to send on future date - and I'm not sure that they're quite the same thing.
I want to be able to schedule send invoices, and I want to be able to do it on the fly, not through a system wide setting - so, if I'm creating invoices from my sofa on a Friday night I'd like to be able to schedule them to go on a Monday (or whatever day I choose).
But honestly? What I'd really like above all else? Is for the absolute travesty of 'new' invoicing to be dealt with.

It would be highly beneficial to have a delayed delivery option for sending invoices to customers. We typically process invoices on specific days, and customers prefer not to receive invoices before their projects are completed. The ability to schedule invoice deliveries for set dates would provide peace of mind, streamline our workflow, and reduce administrative time.

Create the invoices, then use "get link" or download the PDF and schedule the send in an email. This way it will save the correspondence in a paper trail too.

@ Hannah G, don’t you think it’s time Xero actually started listening to its users?
Instead of rolling out features no one asked for or continuing with the tired “Building on Beautiful” slogan, how about focusing on what really matters — BUILDING ON FUNCTIONALITY?
Do you even read these threads? Just scroll through the community suggestions — most of them are 5 to 10 years old, with hundreds (if not thousands) of upvotes and absolutely no action. It’s beyond frustrating.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that Xero doesn’t care about its user base or making meaningful improvements that would genuinely help us run our businesses. Instead, you keep pushing out updates like “New Invoicing”, which almost everyone hates, or now this utterly useless JAX — yet again, something no one asked for.
Enough is enough. Start prioritising the feedback from the people who actually use your product every single day.
