Is the delay on this, (essential for Projects to be at all efficient if a client uses Projects and POs), because of the need to keep the Projects API isolated, so that add-ons cannot work with Projects?

This isn't difficult, we have built our own Xero API.

Press one button on the front of our Excel report and it pulls in all the relevant info from Xero. It posts any open Purchase orders as commited costs against each job as well as show all other billing on the job giving you real time view of where Jobs are at - all wrapped up in a nice branded excel spreadsheet..

Agreed with others here. We need more functionality in Xero, not aesthetic changes. I'd like to think that Xero would work to understand the workflow of their customers and then prioritise feature dev to support that workflow.

Why is it that you have the resources to change the front page of your log in and a number of changes to existing items yet you seem to have no time for something that people have been asking for for years, If I remember I asked this a few years ago and you still keep saying you don't have the time to do this surely by now this would have reached the top of your list. How many more years do we have to wait for this

Is there an update on this? Assigning Projects to PO's is essential to accurately project cost. The projects functionality of xero is pointless to us without it.

Sadly, after waiting years for this functionality, another 6 months have gone by since the above comment from Xero and no tangible progress at all. In the meantime upgrades only seem to change “look and feel”, that are not adding any business benefit for our small UK based business. Our Xero charges have doubled in 8 years! But in return no new functionality we can use, so no efficiency gained. And we still have to use Excel to track customer PO numbers on Projects (to ensure we can manually add to invoices to ensure we get paid) and have to pay for Tripcatcher for mileage (as Xero expenses still doesn’t calculate UK Vat on mileage expenses).
I have realised Xero are focussing on attracting new customers based on looks not function, for the short term gain and relying on how time consuming it is to move accountancy software to keep companies paying. But as a business completing a Xero customer survey this week we finally realised we are never getting the upgrades to functionality needed and we now need to look elsewhere.

Please would you proritise the assignment of Purchase Orders to Projects.

I'd greatly support the implementation of this feature. For our business, it's important to have tracking of PO's issued, particularly as a lot of the plant and materials we procure have long lead times. Having visibility of PO's within projects would significantly improve forecasting and project reviews. It would be great to at least have a rough ETA as to when we can expect this feature to be rolled out.

This would be incredibly useful right now - I already have a Project set up for a particular clients' work, they've requested some more work which I'll put in the same Project, but to source things related to that new work, I have to issue purchase orders. Those purchase orders should be linked to the Project so that people looking at the Project can see what has been ordered and what hasn't yet!

This is vital because there is a large gap between the raising of a PO, at which time the business has a financial commitment, and the billing, which can be many weeks. During that time currently, Xero cannot tell me how much cost I have committed to on new jobs that have been commenced or projects that are in quote stage.

Purchase orders - assign to projects. It would be great if purchase orders or each line item from a purchase order can be assigned to a project. This can then translate to the assigned bill when the relevant supplier submits their invoice for payment. It make sense that the PO amounts are captured in project reporting. At the moment, adding a estimated expense is a secondary process that leaves room for clerical errors.

Build the module as a 3rd Party App and then make it available at a price.

Please add the "ASSIGN EXPENSES TO A CUSTOMER OR PROJECT" button to the Purchase Order front page / menu. I want the costs allocated to the project at the point of raising a PO to reflect real time expenditure and enable up to date project cost analysis.

In our sector, construction, it is critical for us to track costs against projects and being able to raise a PO and allocate the cost to a Project will enable us to keep all processes in one place. At the moment we have to do certain commercial elements off system because the PO's don't talk to the Projects. This is a fundamental requirement. It would be amazing if they did!

...please....please....;please see what you can do to fast-track PO's functionality with Project allocations per line item.
Also the conversion of 'Accepted Quotes' to update Projects with all the data already captured.

Hi, assigning po's to projects is a basic requirement to track project costs, If this isn't going to be a priority or available soon we probably won't have much choice but to possibly look at another provider who can offer this facility.
