Projects - Set different rates and multiple task for each employee
Ability to set different rates and multiple tasks for each employee in a Project.
Purpose: To improve the workflow when users’ using Xero Project, rather than having to duplicate the task for the employee.

I have multi-year projects with an agreed rate escalation each year. I need to be able to change the rate of an employee for a particular when these rates change. Xero support has suggested I create new tasks, i.e. I have a year one task called "Site Visit" and a year two task called "Site Visit 2". This will work short-term but will become very cumbersome and error-prone. Surely, Xero doesn't expect rates to remain the same, or maybe, it will maintain its licence rate forever. That would be good!

This is really important for any consultancy that has differing chargeable rates for each members of the team.
Currently we create a task for each person to assign hours to.
Instead it would be good to have tasks that just say for example...
Stage 1 - Background Research & Inception
Stage 2 - Work up
Stage 3 - etc...
Staff can then log time against the relevant Stage and invoices are generated using the relevant staff billing rate!
A must have feature

I've spent hours setting up all our projects to now discover that it's impossible to set various rates per staff member. I set each staff member up as inventory items with a cost & sale price but projects only picks up the sale price and takes the cost price from staff rates within projects. Why can't it be overridden per task? We won't be able to use projects if this is not rectified asap.

We will need this feature in order to continue using Xero projects long term as staff rates will change during the course of a financial year.

We need to enter different pay rate for day shift / night shift, without this feature, we got stuck.

Please get this done asap. We've just switched the whole business over to Xero but then identified this issue, and we're going to have to abandon it as it's impossible to manage our projects.
Also, if I'm correct, if anyone get's a payrise o'r we raise dayrates because of inflation, that change will automatically change in all our past projects and all those numbers will be wrong.

Allowing an override to change the charge out rate on a entry would resolve this !!
I agree with the thread on this it is a critical update needed to Xero Projects
If this was done Xero Projects would become a very valuable product and I would be happy referring clients to use Xero projects.
I have recently spent hours assessing other product's but none are a good fit. Xero Projects is if we can get around this issue. -

Please update to allow a charge out rate to be assigned to the person not the task. This could be in the setting along with the cost rate

Such basic functionality. Absurd that this isn't possible already. I can't imagine it's difficult to implement this much needed basic feature. This is about to become a deal breaker.

Can't believe this isn't a thing! Thought I was setting it up wrong at first because I couldn't find how to add rates by staff member!

Adam Terrill commented
surprised that this isnt already a feature. Not many service based businesses have the same hourly rate for each staff member

Businesses don't just work in one-dimensional rates per person. Thus a multi-rate per person function is imperative to move with the variety of business that's now the norm.
