Tracking - Increase the number of tracking categories
I have a real estate client who wants to track clientID and Postcode but also Agent name and property value range. I can only use 2 categories and so have had to make a number of Item codes for each agent 30+ codes per agent in order to do this. If we could have more than 2 tracking categories that would be great!

Hi everyone, we appreciate all the interest in Tracking. As widely used as this feature is we have no plans at this point to develop and extend the current limitations of Tracking in Xero.
As some here may have explored - there are connected apps that may serve some of the needs of Tracking, as well as Xero Projects for those looking to monitor and record finite business projects or jobs.
If there's any change, we'll return here to update.
You're welcome to continue to share detail of how increasing options for tracking could benefit your business, however we want to be transparent in our position, so you can make the best decision as needed for your business.

Is it difficult to update the system to allow more tracking categories? Like is a lot of work involved in doing so? It seems it would make a heap of customers a lot happier. Doesn't really make sense not to do it, unless the whole idea is to push people to add on Xero Projects. Money...sigh...

This is SO important. For non profits to be able to track restricted funds, programs, and grants (fundamental and basic to all nonprofits) we really need three. I've tried using Projects for Grants multiple times but it is not designed with the flexibility necessary for this purpose and is cumbersome and labor intensive.
Please the third tracking category ASAP -

More than 2 tracking categories would be perfect, it would give my company all the required info that it needs for management reporting. I have gotten around this by using item codes as we dont use them but not ideal!
I know my company would happily pay extra for additional categories if it were an option

You are going to begin to lose more customers than you gain if you do not start to introduce the basic requirements offered by other packages - why are you so resistant to something that is in such demand? You are seriously letting your customers down.
We shouldn't have to look to alternative apps for this - this seems to be an ongoing theme with your software - want better project intel - add a bolt on - want better invoice detail - add a bolt on - Not good, and clearly don't care about the quality of your product for your customers

Our business is currently working fine with having 2 active tracking categories. However it is important to be able to have the ability to create and use more than 100 active tracking options within that category. Is the platform able to handle 200 tracking options within a single tracking category with stability of report extraction?

It's disappointing to hear that this isn't planned. We are a multi-discipline, multi-state company. If we didn't have to use a tracking category to group employees (easier reporting for payroll tax purposes), that would free one up for reporting.
Hopefully Xero reconsider their decision on this.

We didn't sign up to Xero to then have to go and find other apps to do the job Xero should be doing. Shame on you Xero. Seems like it's more about the money these days rather than the happy users.

Additional Tracking categories would make a significant difference to how we use Xero for management reporting across our businesses. Would strongly support this improvement.

I have a client that needs more than two Tracking Categories. he may not use Xero because of this limitation

We need to have more categories. I am considering leaving Xero for this sole reason.

Is very limiting for entities who are just lookig for a little bit more tracking capacity, but don't need all the bells and whistles of Projects or external project management software.

Critical importance, the reason we are looking to move away from Xero

disappointing that this is the current decision by Xero, hopefully you can reconsider. I would use tracking nothing relevant to projects and would be very helpful not to have to use any further add-ons. You are limiting your potential.

I currently use both active tracking categories to add extra detail into specific GL accounts. Please create separate tracking or function so that I can create different payroll groups - 1 for recurring employees and one for seasonal harvest staff

I understand Xero is not an ERP system, but it would be helpful if you increase the tracking categories. It limits companies from having crucial financial information breakdown by their specific needs. I hope Xero adds this feature to their current planning. Please make Xero a more beautiful accounting software!

This is critical to my business. I'm currently looking for software that I can manage multiple LLC with multiple properties. At this time Xero is not offering that option. Please review implementing this into your program. I would choose this software, if it was an option.

Same here. So limited with just 2 tracking options. Now I can't track all I want for my business, and I am thinking of switching to other services too. What's so difficult to just increase to 5 or 10 tracking options?
