Pricing Plan - Increase the limits of Bills in Starter Pricing Plan
Dear Xero
I'm a user of your Standard business plan and happy to pay for this service, but also a user of your Starter Plan for another business in another country and it has some limitations which really need attention for small business owners who don't do much accounting.
The limit of 5 bills a month has to be increased to at least 10 which seams fair for a small business. I don't see the value of your price increase for basic features we need.
The other issue with 5 bills its allocated to each month, so should you have no bills the following month you can't even use the 5 bill options for previous months.

Hi, I am a Bookkeeper/BAS Agent with multiple clients on Xero. I recommend Xero often but I am concerned about the Starter Plan with the increasing costs.
This is a great plan for a small business that can't afford the Standard Plan, but the 5 maximum bills is not adequate for the price, and the huge jump in price to access more capacity is not affordable for these clients. I believe that 15 - 20 Bills for this Plan would be fair for the price.
This helps Bookkeepers help their clients with small businesses and reduces the frustration of having to find alternative, more time-consuming ways to attach receipts and bills to spend monies.
You will still catch everyone who can afford the higher price, but this will help the Bookkeepers who recommend Xero. -

Isn't it about time Xero changed the limitations on the starter package to allow small companies to use it.

I would like to see the invoice limit removed for the Starter Plan. I am a sole trader in healthcare (a psychologist) - no employees and therefore no need for payroll, but my client management software Halaxy (calendar, invoicing, etc) is synced with Xero so I can reconcile the transactions. I was surprised to see that each of these transactions counts as an "invoice", even though I am not using Xero to directly invoice my clients. I see 16 clients per week, so I realise now that 20 invoices per month is not going to work.
I would like the invoicing limit removed, or at least the option to pay a little extra to have the limit removed. I am reluctant to go back to using the Standard Plan because I have no need for the extras such as bulk reconcile transactions or payroll. I am seriously thinking that this platform will not work for a sole trader like me and am looking for alternatives (e.g., Quickbooks).

It is so annoying, and pricing is always increasing.
Am considering moving to another accounting program what with all the changes. -

This package is not in line with Quickbooks.
I am trying to get a client to change from Quickbooks to Xero, but he does slightly more than 20 small invoices a month.
He won't change because he pays £14 for Quickbooks and would need the standard package at double the cost in Xero. -

Do not post as a bill, recon the bank straight to the chart of account, and attached the document on the bank recon. Only times needed to load the bill, if there are payment terms, and bill is only paid at a later stage

Increase of a Xero resource for additional payment.
Xero is a straightforward solution for many kinds of businesses; however, the bottleneck of Xero are limits. In the case of stalling business, Xero starts performing very poorly. For instance, we are eager to pay more to increase dedicated resources to our companies from Xero and, say, process 20 000 transactions per month instead of 2 000 transactions.
And in many cases, this is why companies seek alternatives to Xero, like Business Central and Odoo (because they allow scalability). It would be great if Xero could roll out a survey with its proposal (if it is possible to increase performance) on how much it will cost to raise limits for a company and what limits can be improved.

I totally agree. 5 Bills is absolutely crazy. Is anything being done to solve this inadequacy? I am in the middle of my trial period and was about to pay for a plan but the difference in price between the Starter and Standard Package, before I am generating revenue, is a little hard to swallow. It certainly does force one to look at other options a little closer. Are there any plans to increase this number, even to 10 Bills/month?

At present, only 5 bills can be posted each month using Xero starter. This is unrealistically low. If business can post 20 sales invoices, why can't the number of bills be increased to match? The jump in price between Starter and Xero is quite steep for new small businesses, and they are more likely to go to a rival software that offers more features and functionality for a very small price increase than to upgrade to standard.

This would be very attractive for small businesses

As an E-commerce business we don't usually need to issue any invoices because we sell only to end consumers. On the other hand, we need to upload between 10 and 15 bills monthly because we buy inventory on an ongoing basis.
I don't understand WHY Xero is not considering this particular scenario of a small business. Being allowed to issue 20 invoices and only upload 5 Bills per month is ridiculous when using the Basic Plan. It doesn't match the reality of a small business and the Standard plan it's just too much for basic accounting.

Starter Plan currently has a limitation of 5 bills, this would be more suited to 20 in order to reflect a very small operator and not push so many users into a higher tier.

The small companies also pay to have their accounts prepared on a monthly basis. So their bill is also much higher as a result. Xero needs to look at this if they want to attract and keep small companies.
Other packages are now available on a much cheaper basis.

What about when a married couple have a business and hire someone (casual hours - usually 4 hours per week) to do their accounts - their Xero bill automatically goes up $25 a month ($300 per year) because they are paying a third person.
RIDICULOUS and UNNECESSARY
I used to prefer Xero to MYOB, but I'm beginning to change my mind. -

Xero's starter package should be more flexible for very small companies.

A number of small companies who will never increase business due of the nature of their business for example a property management company who looks after an apartment block. These companies never reach the maximum number of invoices in a given year, however may go over the limit if they invoice on a quarterly basis. Also the companies by their nature may have over 5 bills in any given month, they sometimes get 5-6 bills for electricity/gas plus other maintenance invoices in a given month. They are exempt of VAT so they don't use this facility. They are so small they need to be on a starter package. Can Xero please have a look at these companies as they are all looking to change due to the high Xero costs per month.

Bill’s allocated allowance is measly compared to other products and should roll over to the following month if not used. We’ve paid for 60 a year, then at least allow them to be allocated during the year as required.

This is the least Xero can do to compensate small/micro/part-time businesses after multiple price rises in a short period of time.
