New Invoicing - Ability to copy invoice to a quote
In Classic Invoicing, you could copy an invoice to all sorts of things: Invoice, Quote, Purchase Order, Bill. See first screenshot.
In New Invoicing, you can only copy an invoice to another draft invoice. See second screenshot.
Please can you replicate the 'Copy invoice to a quote' functionality in New Invoicing?

Hi everyone, coming back to share that this is now live. You'll find within the 3 dot menu of new invoicing there is now the option to 'Copy to draft quote' 😊Thanks again for your engagement here.
If you're also interested in the other 'copy to' options, join and follow updates for these through the ideas below.

Thanks Paul, that's something the team are also looking into however unlikely that both these changes will be released at the same time. We have separate ideas for copy to purchase order(https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198/suggestions/46350325) and copy to bill(https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198/suggestions/46252327) that you're welcome to join to stay updated on those too 😊

Thanks for the update @Kelly! But can we get more than just quote? Per the initial list it would be great if we can copy directly to a Purchase Order, or a Bill (especially a Bill for me) please? :)

As others say for me this is critical please make sure it is sorted before switching off classic invoicing

and vice versa - to convert the quote to an invoice or PO is necessary

I use this daily for our repeat orders who we have to send quotes to first and we would copy that last invoice. Please add this feature again

We do so many different style invoices and quotes that this is a critical time saver being able to do this

It's an essential feature to copy invoice to new quote for a customer to save time and use back the information added. Hope to get this back before retiring the classic invoicing.

Essential feature that has now been removed, switched back for now but I hope you add it back in before 1st September

Copy from invoice to quote, purchase order and bill are vital functions for us. Please ensure these are not lost with the new invoice system. The current function saves a lot of time with processing and ensuring data accuracy being copied across. Efficiency would take a huge hit if these functions were no longer available.

Totally agree. Copying last invoice to new quote for a customer saves us a lot of input time as there is special information added to every invoice beyond choosing the product off the list, but they don't always choose the same product quantity, plus we can consider last product discount rates applied. Recurring invoice is not appropriate for our business.

This is critical to our business also. I use the copy to function from an invoice to a quote and to a purchase order every day. Without it , I’ll need to change my accounting package as I won’t be able to do my work efficiently

Losing this functionality would add a huge amount of additional time to our accounts. We are already only using this as a work around for another deficiency in Xero functionality
Kelly - to add to my comment - we use this functionality as a work around to the fact that an approved purchase order does not commit that value to the accounts payable and as a large proportion of our invoices have in and out costs which we incur and charge out as an agent for our clients, the only way to maintain an accurate profit and loss is to enter the bill at the time of the invoice, otherwise our P & L gives a very inaccurate picture and leaves us unable to accurately forecast our position and cashflow

Agree with this - we use it mostly for copy to Purchase Order, but it's a similar idea.

I need this too. I have to switch back to "classic". Some of the decisions xero take seem very odd.
I use this feature all the time, so if it eventually disappears, then it would be very frustrating.

We've used Xero for over 3 years and recently transitioned to AutoTax and after doing so are forced to use the new invoicing. For 3 years + we've copied invoices to Purchase Orders and more recently for recurring purchases with set pricing, directly to Bills to pay directly after invoicing a customer. But now, your new update took this functionality away and we can only copy an invoice to another invoice - which is pretty worthless. Bring back the functionality that the older invoicing had to the new one - it shouldn't be complicated. As others have already posted many of us do this to keep a streamline between invoices & purchase orders/bills.
To be clear - my request is for copying an invoice to ANYTHING - a quote, another invoice, a purchase order, or a bill.
NEW systems shouldn't result in LESS functionality - ever.

I have just had a customer change their invoicing system and this function would have saved me a lot of time.
As all the Invoices that I had completed waiting approval needed to be changed to a quotation. Hope this change can be made soon. -

+1 to Andrew's idea
Hi Kelly - this is critical for us as well - please make sure the 'copy to' --> quote feature is carried across, otherwise when two jobs are similar I would have to start from scratch to create a new quote when previously it would be no effort at all. Happy to chat!

Agreed. This is why I cannot switch to New Invoice. Specifically "Copy to a Purchase Order"
Once an Invoice is paid, I copy it to one or many purchase order(s) to the Vendor(s) I need to order parts from from. Very Easy in the Classic window. Does not exist in new invoice. -

Hi, this happens when we need to quote again for services that we might have delivered in the past, either for the same customer or for a new prospect whose needs are very similar to those of a customer who we have invoiced.
Also, we use repeating invoices extensively to generate new invoices for annual maintenance contracts with ongoing customers. However, some of those customers prefer to have a quotation in advance of their renewal rather than a draft invoice. So we have to create quotations based on the repeating invoice or based on the draft invoice that the repeating invoice system creates.
I hope this clarifies the need.
