AU Payroll - Superannuation end of quarter reminder
Would be great if Xero could trigger an automated (email and/or text) reminder to the superannuation payment approver 10, 5 and one days out from the superannuation due date each quarter.
A similar reminder feature already exists in XPM for Activity Statement Lodgements - reminders can be turned on.
Xero also has the ability to automate reminders to Customers around bill payment.
Xero has the email and SMS of the superannaution approver already on file.
Advantage of these reminders:
Super gets paid on time - we're all human and life can take over and sometimes things get missed - a reminder is an additional prompt.
Continues to reinforce to the client the importance of the payment, and that the approval should be made well before the due date
Reduces the risk of late super payments, which have a negative impact on clients - lack of deductibility, additional penalties, and additional SG liabilities - this also has a cost impost in the preparation of SG statements by advisors, and can create friction between the client and the advisor around "why these need to be done"

It would also be helpful if the reminder could then stop, once the system knows Superannuation batch has been completed for that relevant period. Receiving a reminder that it's due, after having already processed it, can give the impression that it hasn't been done, or hasn't been done correctly,

It would also be of benefit if this was a widget on the Dashboard too reminding us of the due dates for Super payments and BAS/PAYG due dates too
There is a notification already but it's not in your face enough and you have to remember to check the notifications - most of them are useless notifications anyway.

Having been late once, and pinged heavily by ATO, this is critical. Surely an easy service for Xero to provide. As noted all the critical elements are there already

What a great idea, we all know things get missed and an auto-reminder for something so important is really needed.

Would save so much time checking and re checking. We are all busy and I can understand clients may miss the sms sometimes but this idea helps keep things moving.

If this feature was available, it would save me having to log back into each client’s file before due date to make sure they’ve approved their auto super.

Great idea for the reasons already stated.

I also want a report we can run to show all the late super payments and also mark off once the SGC forms have been completed.

28 days after the end of each quarter unpaid SG triggers an obligation to lodge a SG Return. The superannuation liability should become a SG Tax liability & the super liability should be reduced by the appropriate amount.
Even if paid later SGR lodgment obligation still exists under Tax Law.
At year end Xero should be reviewed [automation would help] for any super liability that may have generated a SG Return obligation.
It would save a lot of employee confusion if a report for each employee was available to explain how their super was being handled.

If possible would be handy to be able to produce a report that has the information required for filling in the SGC statements OR a direct filing to the ATO for the quarter statements required if paid late or not paid

For businesses who have missed the cut off for lodging superannuation guarantees to the clearing house by the 28th day of the month following end of the quarter, it would be really helpful to have a system-generated reminder to submit their Superannuation Guarantee Charge Statement and penalty payment before the 28th day of the following month. Many businesses are not aware of this penalty, nor the due dates to submit the required report and payment (including obtaining the need to obtain a Payment Reference Number) to the ATO. Would be great to have this reminder in place to avoid unnecessary penalties and support compliance with superannuation law.
