Subscription - Automatic super in all AU Payroll plans
My suggestions is that automated super should be available if a Xero package offers payroll, like the starter package and the Standard package - its near impossible for clients to make direct super payments for employees (even for business owners themselves) without using this feature.
With the increases in subscriptions occurring in September I think an upgrade with automated super should be tabled for the lower subscription packages.

With subscription increases again from July 1st 2024 - we definitely need Auto Super in a Standard Plan!

Blatantly obvious that payroll software must include automatic superannuation option. It is part of the payroll process. Payroller does it for substantially cheaper. We too struggle encouraging our clients to Xero when it lacks functions that others can provide for cheaper.

I AGREE 100% with this, I have numerous small businesses as clients and do payroll (less than 5 employees) they have to upgrade to a high costing subscription to just enable them to do auto super. This is really unfair, auto super should be lumped with payroll as it is part of payroll.
XERO think of your users and those small companies that are being blatantly rippped off by you because of one simple function that is required to be done 4 TIMES A YEAR for goodness sake.

Your prices are getting higher, your service offering lower. How do you not have statutory obligations as a standard function? How do you expect small business to pay an extra $50 a month for auto super. Your product not suitable for large businesses. Who is your market? Xero are completely tone deaf to the current state of economy and circumstance for small business.

I am having a real backlash from clients I am trying to move to Xero. The functions just are not there for payroll only and lower plans. Any subscription with Xero for payroll is not competitive and lacks vital features like super clearing house and limits employees. You are pricing yourselves out of the market. MYOB does this for $5 for 2 years.
Its a statutory obligation. How can you call yourself small business software when you don't support their needs. -

Xero needs to include Auto Superannuation function for small business. Comparative PAYROLL software for much cheaper rates are available that include the auto super function. Payroller does this. I have just migrated clients to Xero and any on the lower payroll packages are complaining about the manual intervention required with Xero when it was fully automated in Payroller & MYOB. Some have already switched away from Xero for this reason and others are considering it.
If an entity pays for payroll, it should include auto super. -

This appears to be a a really big oversight to not include super when its a statutory obligation just like Tax. Should be in all plans that has payroll.
This is especially the case for small SMEs that dont need all the premium features but payroll is a must.
Please address this oversight and include automatic super in all payroll offerings. Noting Freya's comment also below, trying to do manual super on the same day as doing a Xero payroll payment is just nuts. Fix this urgently please.

Totally agree. All payroll software should have auto super. Makes no sense to provide a short changed product! Payroller provides auto super for super cheap rates. I have small business clients asking to stay on Payroller purely for the auto super function.

This should definitely be brought in before 2026, when we will be required to pay super on the same date as pays. Imagine doing manual super via the ATO small business super clearing house for weekly pays, when it won't let you lodge a new super batch until your previous batches' payment has cleared their processing!

Hi Ben, thanks for raising this, as a sole trader about to move to be a Ltd company (and thus sole employee) I cannot substantiate the cost increase to include Auto Super, and it will now become another thing to have to manage that other softwares provide as standard.
Xero- I really hope you look into this as it has a significant impact on small businesses and sole operators- particularly as you offer payroll in Starter.
Thanks

Hi Ben
A fellow Xero and Myob Partner here. Totally agree! The difference in price to upgrade to Auto super from Standard to Premium is quite a big difference for my small business cleints. Myob have auto super in place for all their business plans. Quite surprised that Xero does not have this available for the Standard Plans.

Automate Super to Starter and Standard Plans
Its is a pain to add employees manually to ATO SBSCH and manually enter their super every quarter for accountants and bookkeepers.
Please xero, add this feature to starter as well as standard plans so that we can do our job efficiently, and have more time to add more clients to xero so we both are in profit :).
Every quarter there are around 10 small business clients with 2-5 employees which needs manual jobs and its hard to keep track of it (sometimes clients dont pay and we need to check if they paid by the due date)
I hope this will be fixed very soon, or can add $5 extra for auto super as an additional feature for starter and standard plan.
its been a long time we have requested for this feature, please xero make our life easy.
Cheers
Ben
