New Invoicing - Add Expected Invoice Payment Date within Invoice
Can no longer add an expected payment date when viewing an invoice, you now have to go to the 'awaiting payment' section of invoices. Meaning more steps involved and lost functionality.

I don't understand why this feature has been removed. This is very important to us as we often have invoices for the same amount but different services, we go into the invoice to check we are adding the date to the correct one as Clients don't often provide a reference and going back to the awaiting payment section is wasting time for us.

Can this be added back at one point please? It is very important towards our credit control system. And going back to the awaiting payment section is wasting time for us.

This is entirely frustrating Xero - I sit at my desk daily and try not to get wound up by who ever at Xero is leading these changes as they are so unhelpful and I wonder what planet they are on quite frankly. You guys need people who actually use Xero to be the ones leading the charge for change and no one else.
Please put the functionality that is currently available in Classic back to note the Payment Date in history. Everyone needs to know when a late bill is going to be paid to run their business's, why you would remove this function I do not know. And please if you have put it somewhere else please let me know where. As you are creating more work for us all to figure out "work arounds" for something that was very easy to accomplish. You are also making us less productive.
Please leave Classic Invoicing as an option for those who prefer it. Grandfather it out if you must but those of us who have used it clearly prefer it to the mess that you have created for us as users with this new version.
Many thanks,
Rachel -

Has Xero acknowledged this feature request yet?
Can anyone recommend any other bookkeeping platforms that have a better UX? We just need the experience to be as simple as possible, in all honesty.

New invoicing release,
Currently we use the "Expected Date" for Invoices awaiting payment as a "To do" list for our accounts receivable team, i.e in the process of their day they open the invoice, they contact or attempt contact with customer they "Add note" then write in the relevant details from the contact made with customer, then change the "expected date" to the next date they are expected to follow up or an agreed date with customer for an action to be taken.
From what I can see of the new invoicing this will not be able to be done from within the edit invoice? Instead staff will need to write the "note" then save, then exit to "Invoices" "Awaiting payment" and find the invoice and change the expected date from this screen ? This seems like a big step backwards, and more time consuming.Xero has responded to the case I created with the only way in new invoicing to change "Expected date" is from the "Awaiting payment" screen, they are removing this feature from within the invoice screen.
Based on an accounts receivable team of 3 touching over 150 invoices each per day, this is adding an additional 10-12 seconds per invoice (this is if the pages load at their fastest also), based on this scenario the additional time cost is 7.5 hours per week..... for a feature that already exists to be removed. -

Following this as it is a crucial element for us a well. I can't understand how it was taken away in the new invoicing.

Any update on this? This is an important feature for us and at this point the only major issue stopping us from switching to "New Invoicing".

We need to continue using this as it is part of how we manage our finances and log in when we have received remittance advice.

We would love for 'add expected payment' to be included within the invoice for new invoicing, like it is for classic invoice. It is time consuming to do this the new way or switching back to old invoicing, which will soon not be available.

Yes, we use this feature from within the invoice itself a lot and having to go to the Business > Invoices page is time consuming. I'm still using the Classic Invoicing because every time I try the New Invoicing it takes me so much longer to do everything. Feels so backwards!

This is such a frustrating issue, I go into the invoice to add the remittance, but cannot update the expected payment date, I then have to go out the to invoice menu, search the invoice again, and input it there. Such a frustrating waste of time when it used to be done in one step on the older version. I switch back when I have a few to do. We have enough distractions when processing without having to go fully out of invoices and menus every single time.

Im still using classic invoicing as I use this facility a lot - feels like some of the changes are going backwards..

I agree with all the other comments, and that is exactly how we work, it's frustrating when you've used this way of working for years, really didn't need changing.

It's really frustrating that the ability to 'add an expected payment date' won't be added to the new invoicing view/edit screens, as using this feature in this way is core to our internal processes.
We regularly search for invoices based on their invoice number, which then brings us to that invoice's invoicing view/edit screen where we can get a full view of that invoice's history, download, send, attach files, update expected payment date, turn off reminders, etc - all from one view.
With this change, we will now have to unnecessarily navigate around multiple areas of the platform if we want to continue to achieve all the above I have mentioned.
I request that the decision not to add the feature to the new invoicing view/edit screen be revised by Xero's development team.

Agreed, this step was a crucial feature for quick credit control and forecasting, adding the extra steps is not ideal.
Could the product team simply update the new invoicing feature to re-include the expected payment date button? -
Lynn Davidson commented
Agreed. Hopefully this box can be added back to the side of the note section. We used this daily for our credit control procedures and now have to open up a second page to add expected date from the invoice list. Its adding time to the process
