Bank Reconciliation - Sort statement lines by most recent date
I always want to reconcile my newest transactions first, as they are freshest in my head. It's actually become pretty maddening not having this feature.

New invoicing copy and merge
In old invoicing, when you used Copy and Merge into a new invoice, it kept each of the original invoice's items together in order, including the first line description. In the new Invoicing, it groups together all of the like items from each invoice which is incorrect. This needs to be addressed.
8 votesHi Lisa, it'd be good to get a closer look at some of the invoices you've copied and merged from and to, so we can get a better look at what's going on for you here.
I've just tested creating invoices with Copy and merge from the list view using the same inventory items, however these are created as separate lines on the new draft invoice.
If you can raise a case with our team of specialists through the Contact Xero Support option at the bottom of this page, they can get more detail to investigate and confirm.

Invoicing – Enable full keyboard entry (date + account number) without mouse clicks
The current “Add Payment” workflow in invoices is inefficient for keyboard users. While manual entry of payment dates has been improved, the account selection still forces users to use the mouse, which breaks the flow.
We need a smoother, full keyboard-navigable process when adding a payment to an invoice:
1.Enter date manually (already possible )
2.Press Tab to move to the Account field
3.Type the account number directly
4. Press Tab or Enter to confirm selection without needing to click the search bar or manually select the account with a mouse
Right now, even after typing the account number into…2 votes -
New invoicing - Set default for 'save'
When invoicing, i usually do in large batches. The save and close function should be second, with save and add another first. Or have the option to edit so it comes first for me?
21 votesHi community, we've recently released shortcuts in new invoicing that cut down the number of mouse clicks and help you perform actions on your invoice with the use of your keyboard.
We've added small prompts to highlight these shortcut combinations in product, and if you’d like to view the full list of options you can view them all on Xero Central.
While save options were explored as part of this work, the only keyboard shortcut right now is Save & close (Alt-Shift-C).
Another option you may want to test for yourself is the '/i' keyboard shortcut. As new invoicing has auto save when you're ready to add another invoice, you could simply type '/i' on your screen. This will open the global search in the blue header with options to go to All invoice, or Create new invoice which you could either click or use Tab to select.

Repeating Invoice - Do not trim the Reference to 15 characters
The Repeating Invoices reference number is cut off which make it difficult to very navigate and find the correct Repeating Invoice to edit.
For invoices in other states (draft, pending approval, pending payment, etc.) the reference is properly wrapped which makes it easy to find what I need.
For Repeating invoices however, I need to open one by one to find the right one because the reference is cut off. there is no reason to cut off the majority of the reference - at least help wrap the text so that all the reference shows. It is especially cumbersome when…

Invoicing | Payments - Using tab and enter
Most people using accounting software are keyboard proficient. Having to use a mouse to see and click on drop down lists is inefficient. This is particularly bad when applying payments to the new invoicing system. I can see you've updated this so that you can tab across when you're creating a new invoice - please extend this functionality to the payment field. (All we really want is for you to #BringBackClassicInvoicing)
2 votesHi Amanda, are there any particular fields you're having issues tabbing through in the payments window? We recently released a change so you can now type in dates rather than having to choose from the calendar.

NZ GST - Export file to include "GST Return" in naming convention
The new modernised GST returns in Xero no longer export the report name in the exported file name. The document only has the client name and date, not the report type anymore. Should say "XXXX Ltd 30 11 2024 GST Return", whereas it currently only says XXXX Ltd 30 11 2024". Inefficient to have to manually add the words "GST Return" for each report produced in Blue Xero when sending multiple documents to clients. Is there a way to get it back? Within the document itself it says the report type, but would be preferred to be included in the…

New invoicing - Searching items by start of field
New Invoicing - Type in Item - please change back to only searching start of field, as per old invoicing.
Now that typing in the Item field in the new invoicing brings up every item with that word or part word in anywhere, we either need to learn all the codes, or make sure our items all contain totally different words. It takes ages to find the item required.19 votes -
Fixed Assets - Delete wrongly created General Pool in Xero Blue
Looking for deleting wrongly created General Pool, which were created during the conversion of file to Xero Blue. Currently we can record an end date to the pool, but it doesn't stop the previous pools to stop appearing on the 'Run Depreciation' screen. No balances recorded, no movement at all.

Statement of account reminders
It has been observed customers who are late with invoices shield themselves buy saying if your statement of account is not updated/accurate we don't or wont pay till it is. This can be overcome with enabling SOA reminders which collate ALL overdue invoices to one reminder. Even better if it can be stapled to new invoices still within terms.
3 votesHi Harley, you can send a customer an Outstanding statement which would contain this information as long as payments are reconciled and up to date in your organisation - Or is it that you're wanting these statements to automatically sent to your customers like what's being asked here?

Lock Dates - Option for an auto lock date every month
The ability to have a set lock date EACH month. For example, every month by the 5th the prior month is locked for users other than the advisers. Currently you can manually do this, IF you remember.
My issues is, if I do not remember the accounting clerk will go back multiple months creating entries and causing issues.

Reporting | Add multiple FY'S as common date selections
Report dates
On financial reports. Instead of last financial year of this financial year wouldn’t it be better to have the years as the selection ie 2024/25 2023/24 2022/23. it will be much quicker to select the year especially is going back further than the current year.3 votesThanks for sharing here, Kerri. Understand why you'd find this helpful and we'll start to get a sense from others that'd like to see this here, too.
I know it's a little different to what you're directly asking here, but perhaps comparison columns and saving as custom could help where you can run the report for multiple date ranges at once and view the comparison across each?

Manual Journal page:TAB after date should go to auto reverse date
Come on Xero, this should be the flow already, the tab position after entering the date should go to the reversing date, we accountants enter a lot of manual journals that are reversed and it is a pain in the **** to have to mouse click on the auto reverse date to be able to enter the date...
This is a easy fix, this is just the tab index in the page...

Manual Journals - Setting to turn off "Show journal on cash basis reports"
As default, can you please turn off the check box "Show journal on cash basis reports"
For users that rely on the 'Cash Summary' report, non-cash journals create significant difficulty getting a true read on the cash position of the business, a key requirement for this report. Thanks37 votes -
Venmo
Please reconsider integrating Venmo, the paypal “hack” isn’t working for me! I’m sure a lot of users rely on Venmo as a form of payment, this would be really useful! Thanks for considering!

Invoicing - Issue warning when unit price is Nil
It would be great to have the ability that Xero gives you a warning when an item line in Invoicing has a $0.00 in the unit price before been approved.
We have had clients that missed completing the price and then the Invoices are sent out.
It would be handy if they got a reminder that this is $0.
Thank you2 votesThanks for sharing your idea with us, Gordon. As there are also legitimate scenarios where some customers may send 0.00 invoices adding an extra warning could also become frustrating.
This is something we may consider as an optional control longer term but want to be upfront that we don't have any plans of right now. For now we'll get a sense of the interest in this from your idea here.

COA | Create new account - Ability to add reporting name on the fly
It would save numerous steps if:
When a new account is created from within a transaction (for instance spend money or journal entry) the option to add a reporting name was available, instead of having to update later through the chart of chart of accounts.
When creating a new account, through the chart of accounts or elsewhere, that the Report Code mapping category could be allocated at the same time.

NZ GST - Allow users to open multiple GST returns in different tabs
New NZ GST return - brings up the GST return for the wrong entity.
This is not a new idea, but a critical flaw in the new GST return that needs to be addressed right away. I have gone to support and they confirm that it is a Xero issue. "Currently, the Product Team have confirmed it’s not possible to work on multiple GST returns across multiple browsers using the new GST return." Then they said the best way is to put the idea on this page, so here goes.
We prepare GST returns for clients that often have one…13 votes
