Entertainment ledger codes in COA - misleading
Chart of Accounts - the ledger codes (a) Entertainment-100% business and (b) Entertainment-0%. Can you change these categories? We accountants all know that the descriptions are misleading.
Almost all (unqualified) bookkeepers use (a) for client entertainment and claim VAT. Subsequently, accountants blindly treat this category as business expenses, reducing the taxable profit. (i.e. wrongly deduct it for corporation tax purposes) I cannot tell you how many cases I've seen in the past few years.
Please change the default categories to (a) Staff-only entertainment and (b) Client entertainment?

Payables report by planned date
Hi Guys,
Is there an option for us to general a payable report by the planned date?
1 voteHi Kai, you can run the Payable Invoice Summary report which has the ability to include Planned Date as a column, or you can also choose to group by this field if you'd prefer - Does this achieve what you're in need of here?

Chart of accounts - Ability to set up credit card as a liability without a feed
Set credit card accounts as liabilities, not assets. We are not a bank, so credit cards are properly liabilities. There should be no reason these accounts should be reported as assets in any circumstance.
I can't set Account Type for bank accounts unless there is a feed associated with it. Even though, I'm not sure what good that actually does, and we don't have feeds for all our accounts. "Credit Card" is an available account type for bank accounts when they are feed-enabled, so adding credit cards as bank accounts appears to be what Xero intended, and that's what we do because we want to reconcile our credit card account.
Despite this, regardless of what you pick for Account Type, if it's even available, Xero considers credit card accounts as assets. You can move them in reports within the Xero UI, but it cannot be changed when getting reports through the API. As a result, credit card accounts have the wrong type and sign, requiring workarounds when using third-party apps. For example, we use ODataLink to get the data into Excel and Power Platform, but we have to create workarounds in the queries because the balances have the wrong sign.
We need the ability to change credit account accounts to be liabilities, as they always should have been.

Trial Balance - Monthly movement report
Would be great to be able to run a report showing the monthly net movement on the trial balance for a year (ie. 12 columns)
7 votesAaah yes I get what you mean, thanks for coming back to clarify for me, Kevin. We'll leave the idea here to gather interest.
While this isn't something we have plans for atm, I'll update if there is any change around this to share.

Reporting - Print pdf shortcut
To be able to have a short cut to be able to print pdf straight from report screen without having to click multiple times to get there
1 voteThanks for your feedback, Sadie. We don't have any direct plans for a PDF / Print shortcut atm but we'll feel out the interest from your idea here and let you know if there's any progress.

Xero Expense - Use date of last entry
When entering expense claims, the program should be set to retain the date entered in the last expense claim item. When catching up on accounting, it is cumbersome to be working on July in December and have to go back and change the entire date for each entry. I should be able to retain the last entry date on the next and simply be able to edit the day.
1 voteThanks for sharing your feedback here, David. Appreciate how this could be useful when entering back dated expenses. Have you tried enabling receipt scanning as an option to automate some of this data entry?

Payroll (NZ & AU) | Timesheet - Show Ordinary Hours & Leave
When approving timesheets it would be ideal to have separate lines underneath Ordinary Hours with Leave requested, on which days and hour amounts and to be able to approve there instead of having to go to a different screen.
Can be hard to double check and remember correct days the leave was taken and also to ensure daily and weekly hours are met.

AU Payroll - Ability to apply tracking categories to superannuation
We have grant funding so wages as well as super needs to be applied with the tracking code to acquit grant correctly. Presently, there is no availability to apply tracking codes against the superannuation, as well it is only available through timesheets for the wages.
It would be very helpful if tracking codes could be applied directly with pay items in employee template (similarly like other software) so this can be applied when leave is taken also31 votes -
History & Notes - Enhance visibility of notes
Suggestion for Enhancing Note Visibility in Xero
When writing notes for any invoice, bill, or manual journal in Xero, the notes are typically placed in the History column. However, this makes them less visible to someone new who might review these documents. If these notes could be added as sticky notes at the top corners of the page, they would be more prominent and could help avoid potential mistakes caused by missing information. Additionally, creating an alert for anyone new accessing these documents would ensure they are aware of important notes. Highlighting these notes could further enhance visibility and capture attention more effectively.

Fixed Assets | Registering draft assets - Navigate back to Draft list
This is minor but annoying. I am working my way through a list of draft assets and when you register each asset Xero reverts to the registered list rather than returning to the draft list. This gets very tedious when you have a lot of draft assets!
Conversely when you are disposing of assets it reverts to the disposed assets list when it would be more efficient to revert to the registered assets list so I can dispose of the next asset.
4 votesAppreciate the feedback on the little things that would improve your experience when working with Fixed Assets. I've shared this back with our product team. We don't have any immediate plans but we'll track the interest and share if there's any change planned.

Inventory - In-built calculator for Sale Price
Xero features a handy inbuilt calculator on its invoices. However, this feature is rather useless if one is populating the invoice with inventory items ("Products and Services") where the Cost Price and Sale Price have already been set, or migrating said items from Projects to a new invoice.
Having the inbuilt calculator in the Sale Price text box when setting up or updating Inventory Items would eliminate the need to keep switching from Xero to a calculator app to apply the correct markup for each item. Better yet would be a dropdown menu feature like is found in Projects to choose "% Markup, Custom Price, Pass Cost on, Nonchargeable" for greater flexibility with inventory items. These are two features that already exist in the Xero universe. It shouldn't be too difficult to apply them here.

Project Reports - Ability to edit Detailed Time Report
It would be great to be able to edit the detailed time report similar to how we can edit the P&L and balance sheet reports.
We simply want to add a timesheet sign off area at the bottom of the report, which would be easy to add if that feature was available.

Singapore Tax - Rework the Deemed Supplies tax code
In Singapore, deemed supplies include free samples given to customers at no charge. If input tax was claimed on the purchase of these sample items, businesses are required to account for output tax when giving out the samples. Currently, Xero does not allow sales invoices to be issued at a zero value. As a result, if a sample is given at no charge, the sales invoice does not register any tax code. The workaround is to input a sales value and create a negative line item to ensure the invoice registers the tax code.
The second issue arises when using Xero's "deemed supplies" tax code for sample invoices that involve inventory items. When issuing an invoice for a sample with a nominal value (due to the previous issue), and selecting the deemed supplies tax code, the GST F5 form fails to capture the cost of the inventory item (i.e., the deemed supply) and the corresponding output tax. The workaround here is to manually enter the cost of the inventory item when issuing the invoice, and use a second line without affecting the inventory. This results in needing to manually check the inventory module to determine the average cost every time a sample invoice is issued. Additionally, this approach renders the deemed supplies tax code redundant, as the standard-rated supply tax code would achieve the same outcome. XERO may wish to consider working on this deemed supply code.

Bills - Add an Autosave function
It would be really useful if Bills autosaved to Drafts - as happens when you enter an Invoice. Because Invoices are autosaved, you are in that mindset and can often forget that you have to click Save or Approve for a Bill to be logged.

Stripe - Revert back to one Stripe Bank Account in Xero rather than requiring two accounts
Last week, against my wishes (and against Xero Support's own knowledge), Xero System Generated a second Stripe bank account in Xero.
I already had a Stripe bank account in Xero that was working fine, it had a bank feed for payments processed via Stripe from other software, and it would have the bank feed and create the payment and fee Xero transactions for payments processed via Stripe on Xero invoices.
I don't want two separate Stripe bank accounts in Xero for my one Stripe AUD account.
Why does Xero do unhelpful things like this?

New Invoices - New Contact search address by postcode
As the new invoicing is no longer optional. I believe this issue must be addressed for all customers in the United Kingdom.
When adding a new contact upon invoice creation, allow us to search for the address via postcode like we used to. This could be achieved by postcode search ABOVE Billing Address, then auto-populate the billing address based on the input post code.
Note there were many issues with the search results which must also be addressed (See: https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/46289185-contacts-improve-uk-postcode-lookup)
OR alternatively allow us to simply input the full address as one line and YOU automatically digest it and put the relevant information in the appropriate fields, (UK addresses are not THAT complex to sort this out and this would be an enormous time-saver for those of us that have tens to hundreds of new clients every week.
At the VERY least, you could default the country field to United Kingdom!

AU Payroll - Annual leave for casual employee
Xero has removed the ability for casual employees to apply for annual leave if that leave is available to them. Annual leave is part of my casual employees employment contracts. The employees and I have agreed that they will receive annual leave and sick leave.
These leave types were catered for in the past and the employees were able to apply for them when required. Now, despite still accruing those leave types, they are unable to apply for them.
This change by Xero restricts my business's ability to determine what conditions I offer to my employees. While the terms of employment I offer are all above the minimum standards of the NES (national employment standards), Xero can't deal with that for some reason despite being able to deal with it in the past.

New invoicing - Calendar to remain stagnant when moving through months
When you open the calendar to input a date (e.g., expense claims), the calendar box changes shape/moves around when you click the arrow to go back over previous months because the number of days in each month varies. The calendar shouldn't move around because you must keep repositioning the cursor to find the arrow again.
As someone mentioned in another comment, allow the ability to use the mouse scroll to go back and forth.

AU Payroll - Create a new timesheet for deleted timesheet period
Once a timesheet has been deleted for a given pay period by an employee, both the employee and the payroll administrator should be able to create a new timesheet for this same period.
We have had instances where the employee has accidently deleted their timesheet after it was declined by payroll administrator (instead of fixing it), and once deleted there is no ability for either employee or payroll administrator to create another timesheet for this period (I submitted a support request to Xero and they confirmed this).
