Banking - Increase character limit on bank reference field
Bank feeds from Bendigo Bank, and I presume all other OSKO payments.is being fed into the reference field. It concatenates the description, payee and reference field.
The problem is the field is now too short with new OSKO payment descriptions, so the reference field is often dropped off making some transactions difficult to match. A simple solution is to make this field longer.7 votes -

PayPal - Import proportion of VAT with feed
As a retail company with many hundreds of transactions each day it is a massive task to properly account for VAT. All our products are VATable inside the UK but we receive many orders from outside the UK which are non-VATable, or from other EU countries where we must charge a different VAT rate for our IOSS return.
PayPal holds details of the VAT that was collected as part of the transaction, but as Xero imports all these hundreds of transactions from PayPal it currently does not import those VAT details. That means we have to look at our other systems to work out which tax bracket to put each and every transaction into. It would be really useful if Xero could import the VAT data (or even just the delivery country code) that is held in PayPal so that the correct VAT treatment could be automatically applied using rules.
Is this a problem that other higher volume retailers are facing or does someone have a solution to this?

Invoices - Enter cents for an amount without inputting decimal point
It would be good if you did not have to enter the decimal place when entering dollar amounts. Just saves 1 extra key stroke but that adds up to a lot of keystrokes
2 votesThanks for your confirmation, Robert. I've just adjusted the title of the idea.
We don't have any plans for this at present but will track the appetite here.
Atm, when entering Expenses or Bills you may find some of the automation through Hubdoc, emailing bills to your org and the ability to enable receipt analysis within Xero expenses help reduce the need to enter these amounts yourself, too.

Reporting - Show all tracking categories even if there is no data in the period reports run
Recent changes to the report layouts when comparing categories means that categories without data no-longer show. It would be great for the user to have the ability to choose whether to include/exclude.
This is particularly relevant when reporting is exported to Excel for customised reports that cannot be developed within Xero. The exported data out of Xero needs to have same column headings so that lookups in Excel continue to work.
The recent change has meant that reports we have already developed within Excel that rely on Xero data no-longer work. And is time consuming to add back in columns in the exported data.Recent changes to the report layouts when comparing categories means that categories without data no-longer show. There aren't any direct plans for adding non used categories back into view but it'd be good to be able to share if there are any specific reports you're commonly using that you'd find this view useful in.

Fixed asset - Create from prepayment
There should be an option to enter a prepayment to/from a Contact as such, that is a prepayment. For now, it has to be entered as an invoice. Creating an invoice also creates HST due/credit and it does not follow tax/HST rules because a prepayment is not a sale.

Invoices - Option for 'Tax point' field in invoices
The need to have an occassional tax point date that is different from that of the invoice date has arisen, usually found in the retail sector, and there is not currently an ability to add the field to the sales invoice form. Can there be the ability to have this feature added, albeit a hidden one? Currently the work around is to create an invoice outside of Xero and send that version to the client, causing additional workload. We have been seeing this from vendors for years but the workaround there is entering in the tax point as the invoice date. That does not work for sales invoices.

Reconciliation | Find & Match - Payruns and superannuation payments
The purpose of this development would be to add the wages payable & superannuation payable entries to the Match, Find & Select menu. This would allow you to see the payrun for the week or superannuation processed by the program and match as appropriate.
The purpose of this development would be to allow users to see the payment and the actual information processed in Xero and potentially correct issues (e.g. reduce potential underpayment of superannuation/wages at point of reconciliation instead of months later).

Batch Payment - SSV file type option
I need Xero to have more payment file formats to upload bill payments into the bank. It is such a useful function, but it becomes too much manual intervention to add columns every time you export the file to match your specific bank's needs.
It will be great to be able to upload a template that can pull the needed info, similar to a Sales invoice templates.

Tax - Ability to calculate and report tax for multiple jurisdictions
GST - where an entity trades in different tax jurisdictions, allow the file to create the ability to manage GST for different countries (different GST codes) in separate GST accounts and not all consolidated into one GST account.
eg if an entity trades in Australia and New Zealand, you can have an Australian GST account and a NZ GST account to make reconciliation and completion of BAS easier.16 votes -
VAT reconciliation report - Highlight that report only works with older version of non-MTS VAT Return
The VAT reconciliation report is still listed in the menu of reports, however there should be a comment somewhere in the report that says that it doesn't integrate with VAT returns filed under MTD.
This will avoid staff who are unaware of this, trying to make sense of it.
Maybe just completely remove it.1 voteThanks for the feedback, Andrew. This is something that's noted within the help for this report but appreciate wanting to see this more predominantly in the product.
No changes at present but we'll let you know if there are any made, here.

Contacts - Set default settings when adding new contacts
Have the ability to set default settings for every new Contact you add to Xero.
Our default tax will always be Tax Exclusive for example. We should be able to set this as the default to all new contacts added, as well as:

Currency
Invoice Theme
Invoices Due DateCheers

Customer statements - Change how Credits and Overpayments are reflected
Please look at amending the template for customer statements. Its terribly presented at the moment with overpayments being recognised under the invoiced amount section as a negative and balances not cumulating at the end
5 votesHi Neilin, I know you've mentioned customising the template, however from the sounds you'd like to change the behaviour of how items within a customer statement is represented?
If so it'd be good to understand more of the reason of why you're wanting to show overpayments as a positive?
If a customer has paid more than expected amount this amount is then a credit on their record and in turn draws down the total amount owed.
Alternatively you may want to be looking at recording as a prepayment?
