New Invoicing - Ability to apply overpayment to invoices
Why do we have to switch back to classic to apply and over payment - This feature needs to be in the New Invoicing System. It creates a massive amount of clicking to get all the features needed.
Hi everyone, we have now released this within new invoicing 🎉
You'll now see that when you apply a payment within new invoicing, if the amount entered exceeds the invoice total Xero will note this and offer the option to create an Overpayment.
Thank you to everyone that voted on this idea and shared the importance of this in your workflow.

Any update on this? I cannot use the new invoicing at my small business because of this reason. Many customers do overpayments to purchase packages of services and we can apply overpayments to invoices with new invoicing, but can't actually create an overpayment. This is something we use EVERY DAY.

OK so now I'm totally over this use of language with New Invoicing. Rather than the continual references to "New" this and "New" that - can there PLEASE be some recognition and acknowledgement that these features AREN'T NEW!!! They are just stock standard within Classic Invoicing and have been for over a decade I've been using Xero!!

YES! We can't lose this feature of overpayment, we get rounding difference with interfaces from our CRM system. This function of overpayment currently available in classic invoices is needed regularly. please made it available in the new invoice too, Thanks!

Agreed - we use this for ATO refunds against client fees, and need to be able to show reconciliation
It's not a luxury that the Xero team can add in at their leisure
It's VITAL -

On the New invoicing feature - Within add a payment on the invoice it does not allow overpayments like on the old invoicing. This is important for clients with client accounts such as estate agents where full reconciliations of client accounts need to be completed for their professional bodies.

YES! We can't lose this feature, we use it a lot. And with the classic one going away in September, please fix this and add it on.
