New Invoicing - Add new Tracking option
The ability to add a tracking code from within the 'new invoicing' bills.
Classic invoicing has this ability and it would be excellent to have it in the new invoicing also.
Thank you for your on-going input and attention to the idea here, everyone.
We will keep you updated on change for being able to add new tracking options when using new invoicing here, however if there are other items that you'd like to see developed please do make sure you've joined and are following updates for these too.
I can confirm our team have work underway to improve the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoice. Part of this work includes the ability to add new tracking options without navigating away from the invoice.
For now we'll move this idea to working on it and I'll be back to share when there's more news of this going live for you all.

Please Please don't force us to use the new Invoicing. I have daily Sales sent over via Zettle everyday I go in and put in the correct cost centre but this is not possible the couple times I tried it with new invoicing.
I need to record the sales for different Cost Centres. I have 4 main ones that I use daily. Otherwise I will have to run a Manual journal to get this info in when with the current version I can do it in a couple clicks.Either keep the old version for those that want it (it seems as though there is quite a lot of those) or change the new version to be more user friendly and easier to use.

Currently can add a tracking code from the invoice module, but once this is has been created the new tracking code can't be selected, it only becomes available once the invoice window has been refreshed - making it moot. Have notified Xero Support with no positive outcome even though I provided a video of the exact issue. Just received a standard cut and paste reply / offer for a support call - neither of which will resolve their poor coding as the video clearly explains the issue.
Having to refresh or switch windows to accomplish basic tasks like adding a tracking code or client's email address is poor software design.

Not only a tracking option, but also needing the ability to produce a delivery slip would be great.

It is mandatory in the medical industry and many other industries to track serial and lot numbers. If new tracking numbers cannot be added easily Xero will become ‘dead’ software and many organisations including ours will move to software which can track products

Adding my agreement and need for this function to be added before we are forced to use the new invoicing.

Tracking Option in New Invoicing now there BUT, can't Choose None option.
Not all lines in an invoice will be applied to a tracking category. Please enable to choose None.

I couldn't agree more. It will be so time-consuming and confusing if we have to input new tracking separately. Please allow us to be able to do it in line when creating a new invoice.

As others are saying, also absolutely critical for our business too! I cannot see a reason to remove this functionality and using new invoicing at the moment is already causing issues and delays because of this. Please re-instate asap in new invoicing!

This is critical for our business as well. I hope this is added before we are forced to move to the new invoicing

I'm thinking of shifting one of my clients from MYOB to Xero as your tracking options for jobs have vastly improved since you started, but if I'm unable to track jobs in the new invoices then I won't be recommending they switch to Xero. Tracking jobs on invoices is essential.

This one is critical to a lot of businesses. It should be basic common sense that Xero should include all classic invoicing features in the new invoicing if they're going to force everyone to move to new invoicing.

It's crazy not to have pulled the tracking feature through with the new invoicing! Please reinstate it.

I agree with all these comments. Being able to is crucial to our business for profit and loss and one of the reasons that I adopted Xero originally. Whilst it is still an option in the new version, the ability to “Add new tracking” option, like you could in the Classic Invoice format, is critical - without it you have to do a really time-consuming double back around. PLEASE reinstate the “Add new tracking” feature in the New Invoice format.

I am happy to see that everyone else is having this issue as well! I have spent hours searching and thinking "this must be an error or mistake", how could they take out the 'tracking function' in the invoice. I much prefer the Classic invoicing and I will be disappointed when forced to switch with this feature specifically missing, as I track every invoice with a job attached. Having to add them in a completely different (tracking categories) screen first, doubles my work.

Well said Kathy Skinner.
I need tracking on my invoicing but the 'new' version does not include it. If I plan to use the 'new' format I am not able to copy any invoice that was issued in 'classic' format as the invoice has tracking information in the background that is not seen or able to be editted. However it is POSTED upon the invoice's approval. If I were to copy an invoice created in 'classic' format in the 'new' format, unless the tracking information prior matches the newly created invoice I need to revert the invoice back to 'classic' format to amend or remove the information.. And from 2nd of September, I won't be able to do that. This is ridiculous! How is this saving me time??
Now if Xero added the tracking fields to the show/hide field options I would assume I would have access to tracking on an invoice in the 'new' format but is Xero going to do this? -

As usual they change things do some testing saying they're improvements but don't listen to everyday users. Maybe if they actually had to spend a month doing actual accounts and processing via their supposedly improved option versus the classic they would finally understand. Time they actually listened to real time users of these things.
Getting tired of their attitude towards these upgrades and their blase response to peoples complaints about how they're an improvement. Maybe for them but not us. -

Having used the proposed new invoicing system a bit now, it is clunky and inefficient compared to the current system. We use tracking on all of our invoices. The current system has been smooth, we start to enter the code and the list comes up. If it's one on there we just select it and if not we previously had the option to add it from that screen. Now I enter the codes, have to tab across to get it to retain the code, then it randomly changes the code, sometimes to something completely unrelated. If it's a new code I have to open tracking in a separate screen, add it in there at the bottom of the list, save it, then reload the invoice screen to get it to come up. In addition to the issues around that, the current system had a nice clear "Approved" button at the bottom of the invoice. It didn't glitch and scroll randomly to the top of the page or anything. Now it seems to be set as "Approve and email" or something like that, which we never want to do. Even when I select just Approve, it doesn't remain as the set option. It also flicks to the bottom of the screen for some reason so I have to scroll back up to the top to select it.
It's very glitchy. I would not be happy with using this proposed system at all as an ongoing invoicing option. It's awful. -

this is a step backwards - can we move forwards before switching off the old style!!?

Agree with all. Tracking category is important! Also, need to be able to send a receipt from within the invoice. Once you add a payment in classic invoice there was a line at the top that said "send invoice" that you could just click on. Not in new invoicing. Super frustrating and not user friendly.
