XPM | Clients - Sync updates for joint bank account details
Joint bank accounts need to be listed in the financial institution details of both parties in XPM. It would be great to have them linked so only one client needs to be updated and the changes flow to the other client, and into the tax returns for both

Workpapers - Refined User Roles
The User access for Workpapers is very poor. I find that I need to give the Staff high access levels in order to allow them to create and complete workpapers. Rather than just having a very basic Standard and Admin level, the names and levels of access should reflect more the sort of work that staff will be involved in. For example, you don't need to be highly qualified to set up a set of working papers for a new year that you can then work on, so staff members should be held up by needing line managers to initial…
1 voteHi Rebecca, thank you for this valuable feedback on user access in Workpapers.
We can certainly see your point. The current 'Standard' and 'Admin' levels can be too broad, often requiring you to give staff higher access than necessary just to perform routine tasks like setting up a new workpaper file.
Your suggestion to introduce more refined user roles that better reflect the actual work your staff are involved in is a great solution to improve both workflow and security.
We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how more granular user roles could improve their practice's efficiency.🙂

Xero integrate with Housecall Pro online software
Clients using online software "Housecall Pro" are forced to stay with QBO due to its native integration with the software. Xero can adapt using Zapier, but who really wants to do that!
1 voteHi Marci, though we appreciate you sharing on Product Ideas I want to be open that we don't generally develop integrations with other applications ourselves. We have a great Developer Ecosystem Centre where interested parties can come to learn how to build an integration with Xero, and I'd recommend sharing with Housecall Pro to see if they would look to develop.

UK Tax - Ability to Select or Create Custom Disclosure Titles in Accounts (eg, going concern)
Currently, Xero only provides a generic “Additional Disclosure” box when preparing accounts in Xero Tax. However, there are many cases where specific disclosures are required, such as:
Guarantees and Other Financial Commitments
Going Concern
It would be highly beneficial to have the ability to either:
Select from a list of standard disclosure titles, or
Create a new custom disclosure title, which is displayed in bold in the final report—making the disclosures clearer, more compliant, and professionally formatted.
Benefits:
Improves compliance with reporting requirements.Enhances the presentation and clarity of financial statements.
Saves time for preparers by avoiding repetitive workaround text…

Practice Manager | Clients - Ability to edit individual Date of birth
Currently you cannot edit the DOB in a client record in XPM for individual clients you can only edit if you export the database and re import it. For GDPR reasons it is important that we can delete DOB when a client leaves the practice. Please make this field so it can be deleted if required
1 voteHi Katrina, we appreciate the desire for being able to easily update your client data without the need to export. I'm pleased to share that this'll soon be enabled with the Xero Partner Hub which will incorporate this and many other improvements we know our partners have been asking.
You can get to know about the Xero Partner Hub on our website, where you can also register for early access. I'll keep you updated as this begins to roll out to partners. Thanks!

Practice Manager | Jobs - Warning when completing/closing job with active tax return
Job with live Tax Record – it would be good to receive a warning when completing (or cancelled) a job that has a live tax filing
1 voteHi community, we’ve created this idea based on feedback we’ve heard, to help improve your workflow in Xero Practice Manager.
The suggestion is to add a safeguard that prevents jobs from being closed when they’re still linked to an active tax return. We believe this would help reduce errors and support smoother compliance processes.
This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. Your votes and comments will help us understand how valuable this feature is to the wider community and guide future improvements. We’ll keep you updated here as things progress.

1 voteHi Iain, this sounds like more of a direct issues that would be best looked into with our specialists at Xero Support. I'd recommend raising a case with our team via Xero Central - They'll be able to get more detail and access to your org to help understand you reconcile your Stripe payments with the appropriate invoice/s.

AU Tax - Ability to lodge FBT return for clubs & society structures
FBT Returns - I have been informed by Xero Support that FBT Returns can only be created for the following structure types:
Individual
Company
Trust
Partnership
Self Managed Superannuation FundNoting that individuals, partnerships and SMSF do not require FBT Returns it seems more prudent to make them available for the club and society structures who actually my have FBT to lodge.

XPM - Time cost per entry when reviewing task postings
When invoicing in XPM and choosing the task postings options Yes/No/Future, can you add a column for the cost (not just time and rate) so we can judge what to invoice and how much for.
1 voteHi Emily, thanks for sharing this fantastic suggestion for improving the invoicing workflow in XPM. We can see how having more direct visibility of costs would make billing decisions much easier.
We've reviewed your idea to add a calculated 'Cost' column on the screen when reviewing task postings to be invoiced. We understand this would help you better judge what to invoice and how much for at a glance.
Your suggestion is now ready to gain support and feedback from others in the community. Along with votes, other users can now share how having this cost visibility would impact their own billing and WIP management processes.

XPM - More user friendly client & date selection
When running reports, posting timesheets etc, it would be good for the client search function to search the entire name, rather than requiring exact input. Similarly, the ability to type a date in any format (e.g. DD/MM/YY), rather than being exact or using the calendar icon.
1 voteHi Emily, thanks for sharing this feedback on how we can make everyday tasks in XPM more user-friendly. We know that improvements to common fields like search and date entry can make a big difference to overall efficiency.
We've reviewed your suggestions for making the client search function more flexible so it searches the entire name, and for allowing dates to be typed in various formats. We can see how these changes would streamline tasks like running reports and posting timesheets.
Your idea is now ready to gain support and feedback from other members of our practice community. Along with votes, others can now share how these kinds of usability improvements to client search and date selection would help streamline their own daily workflows.

Practice Manager | Jobs - Ability to change information sections
Would it be possible to close sections of the job that you don't use and these stay as default. (Information Tax - job details, custom fields etc.) This would make it easier to see the sections you do use. It would also be useful if you would put them in the order you prefer.
For example to me the most important section is tasks and these are quite low down the list. I would like this to be a default setting.
1 voteHi Sally, thanks for your suggestion. Good to hear how we could improve Jobs for your experience. Make sure you share this with any colleagues that could benefit from this too, so they can add their vote!

Practice Manager | Clients - Digital ID integration
With the movement towards Digital ID (MyID, Auspost Digital ID, Connect ID).
https://www.digitalidsystem.gov.au/
It would be convenient if we could onboard clients using these systems. Would ensure that details were correct and identify the clients at the same time.
Is Xero working on this?

AU Tax - Ability to change password for Outcome of Assessment(OoA)
see CX0014868568
can we modify the password settings?
we prefer dd/mm/yyyyor allow us to modify the password in whatever way we see fit.
the current method of dd-Mmm-yyyy with the first letter of the month being capitalise gets cumbersome for clients
1 voteHi Christopher, we appreciate you sharing this idea. We understand the value of being able to set a custom password for Outcome of Assessment (OoA) documents in Xero Tax. Having more control over how these documents are secured can help you align with your firm’s processes and better meet client needs.
At the moment, Xero Tax automatically applies the client’s date of birth as the password for OoA documents in dd-Mmm-yyyy format. While this works in many cases, we acknowledge the interest in having more flexibility — whether that’s for consistency across documents, improved client experience, or added security.
This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. The community votes and comments help us understand how important this is to the wider Xero community and guide future product discussions. We’ll continue to monitor the feedback here and share any updates as they become available.

Personal tax (UK) - Ability to add payments already made
In Xero Tax, you can enter "Any other payments or credits on account" to show what a client has already paid towards their tax bill. But you can't enter a negative figure (i.e. a refund already received for a return that is being amended) and there is nowhere to add in any outstanding tax from a previous return etc so that the payments report factors this in.
It would be good to be able to have some additional boxes to show these please.
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea for being able to enter a negative figure for other payments. This is something our product team are currently exploring and we'll keep you updated on any progress for this, here.

Report Template - Allow re-ordering of report codes in practice templates Sources
Given Xero's push for 'beautiful accounting' I find it very frustrating that the template report codes can't be re-ordered within their groups in the template reports and always revert to alphabetical at the client level, meaning every single client needs their custom reports formatting unnecessarily. Editing reports at every single client level for what I consider to be pretty basic formatting is really disappointing.
The practice level report template should allow for report codes to be reordered within their groups. I don't want rent, rates and utility costs to be at the bottom of the establishment costs section because they…
1 voteHey Gareth, we appreciate you sharing this idea and highlighting the extra time spent manually reordering report codes in clients’ organisations. It’s clear that a better solution would help your practice run more smoothly.
Right now, the only option is to reorder the codes manually within each client’s report. We know this isn’t the best solution and adds extra steps to your workflow.
This idea is currently in the Gaining Support stage, so it’s open for votes and comments from the community. The feedback will help us understand how many people this would benefit and how important it is to your practice. We’ll keep you posted here as soon as there’s any news.

Workpapers - Add custom queries to custom workpapers
When creating custom queries, only the system default workpapers are available to add the query to. So when you are processing the workpapers, you need to manually move each query to its relevant workpaper, if you want it on a custom workpaper. Please add custom workpapers to the custom query creation list.
Alternatively - if queries were rolled forward from one year to the next, custom queries would only need to be moved in the first year.

Conditional formatting for client queries
Often the first question in a section is a yes/no - it would be good to hide the additional questions that result from the first answer, rather than needing to cover all bases with additional requests for the yes or no question. The shorter the initial list, the more likely the client will answer promptly and correctly.

Invoicing
Revert to standard invoicing until the problems are sorted out. Each entry has a 5 second delay before it is entered. Even this message is doing this. It is currently almost impossible to work with as a bookkeeper. It jumps aaround all over the screen and with the delays one then has to go back and find the field. It is not my computer. Other screens are not a problem. I read somewhere there are going to be changes to payroll. Please test the changes before this happens with this also.
1 voteHi Pauline, I'm sorry to hear the slowness you're experiencing. I want to be transparent that we will not be bringing back classic invoicing. However, I'd highly recommend raising a case with our team of specialists at Xero Support who can investigate what may be causing this for you.
As you've also mentioned experiencing slowness when engaging on product ideas here, while you wait for supports response I'd recommend starting with the troubleshooting steps in our article here.

AU Tax - Return status
It would be great to have two additional tax return status values, to more efficiently support the typical workflows of busy tax agents.
Waiting on information - return cannot progress until the client provides missing info.
Rejected - return has failed review and requires adjustment before it can be lodged.

Workpapers - Customise the Queries portal to brand colours
The queries portal is nice, but its Xero Blue - we'd love to be able to put our own branding on things much further beyond our logo.
