  1. It would be good if we could update client info changes such as change of address or bank account changes directly in Xero that would then update on the ATO Portal. Having used this in another accounting package, it is an extremely efficient process that make sure the client info is updated at both sites. Making these changes directly through the ATO portal gives no (or very little) audit trail.

    Hi Jo, thanks for sharing this great idea for improving practice efficiency. We understand how valuable a better audit trail and a more streamlined process would be for keeping client details up-to-date.

    We've reviewed your suggestion to have client information updated in XPM, such as addresses or bank details, sync directly with the ATO Portal. This idea is now ready to gain support from other community members.

  2. Have the ability to run a report to include in the Financial Statements that is a Group Summary, so includes all selected entities within a group and details all amounts payable or refunds due for all upcoming provisional and terminal tax dates (regardless of balance date) and a Net Tax position

  4. Xero sign in document packs - you currently need to manually input the client's details to add their signature for each document pack (for docs with no auto signing feature like tax returns).

    It would be great if there was an option to simply select a client from XPM as all the details are already there (First name/Last name/Email)

  6. It would be good if any report you can already run in Xero could be added to a report template - this would include GST reports (activity statement and GST reconciliation), payroll reports etc. That way instead of having to manually extract each of these reports for each client we can just do it in bulk through one report template.

    Thanks for sharing your idea to include GST reports in report templates.

    We can see how this would be a real time-saver, especially when you’re building out report packs for clients or internal teams. There’s clearly a strong appetite for this feature, and we understand why. Being able to add GST reports directly into templates would simplify the process of creating complete, consistent report packs for any purpose.

    This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. That means it's open for voting and comments, and we’ll continue to monitor interest from the community. Your input helps inform how we prioritise future updates to Xero. We’ll keep you posted here with any developments.


  7. I had a validation error CMN.ATO.DISTBENTRT.000013 generated in an SMSF tax return.
    When I clicked on the validation error it took me to a specific trust income schedule (number 10 of 18), which had several fields highlighted. The error says that there must be a number in any of the fields A B D U and so on - this schedule met this condition.
    After much wasted time trying to re-enter fields, checking there were no blank spaces, deleting and re-entering all fields, deleting and re-entering the whole schedule, I contacted support.
    It turns out the error was actually generated…

  8. When reviewing quarterly and annual figures from the Profit and Loss report’s account transactions, we currently have to click into each Xero Me app expense to see the description and confirm it’s coded correctly. Expenses entered via bank feeds or bills display descriptions properly in the Account Transactions report, but Xero Me submissions do not.

    This inconsistency makes it difficult to quickly identify and verify transactions without drilling into each one. Competing platforms such as MYOB, QuickBooks, and HandiLedger display expense descriptions consistently, regardless of how the expense was entered.

  10. Please can you make it possible to add manual transactions to the "tax statement" that will show up in the tax return.

    We often did this with MYOB, eg. adding a penalty that we know will be charged after the tax return has been filed, or changing a late filing penalty from $50 to $250 if the client's income is more than $100k (as this will be updated at IRD after the return is filed).

    At the moment it looks like we can only edit the pdf which is very disappointing...

    Thanks for adding this request to our Ideas Kathryn. We have looked at this with current NZ Tax compliance in mind and for transparency this is not something we are looking into at this time. We appreciate it is something others may see as beneficial so other users are able to vote in this.

  11. Xero Tax should have another Tab to View ALL NON Lodged.
    Right now you have to go to Draft, Completed, Approved, To Sign, To File - that's 5 tabs to see which returns and BAS are not yet lodged. All tab includes Filed. There needs to be a tab where you can view All Non Lodged excluding Filed.

  12. When the transaction is reconciled to a Bill that's been uploaded from HubDoc in Xero, it should mark the document as Paid in HubDoc. (Google's AI-generated answer says that this happens, but it doesn't on my account). That way it would be much easier to see in HubDoc which items still aren't reconciled

    Specifically, if a document is
    1) published as "Purchased, Awaiting Payment", and published to Xero
    2) that bill is then reconciled to a transaction in Xero, so that bill is shown as Paid and linked to Hubdoc
    3) then when viewing the document in Hubdoc, "Mark as…

    We understand the workflow you're proposing: when a bill from Hubdoc is reconciled in Xero, its status should automatically sync back and be marked as 'Paid' in Hubdoc.

  13. I’d love to see a feature added that helps prevent accidental data loss when entering conversion balances. Currently, if you leave the page without saving, there’s no warning and it’s easy to lose your work. I’d really appreciate a dialogue window that pops up when you try to navigate away with unsaved changes.

  14. The Xero XPM system calculates GST for each task being billed, but it doesn’t have a total GST check at the invoice level. As a result, some invoices with round billed amounts—such as $30,000—end up with incorrectly rounded GST, for example, $2,999.99. Xero calculates GST on each line item of invoices and other transactions, rounding to the nearest cent. The total GST is then the sum of these individual line calculations, which can sometimes lead to small discrepancies in the overall GST amount.

    Hi Martin, thanks for sharing your idea about GST validation in XPM invoicing. It’s really helpful to hear how a total GST check could help prevent rounding discrepancies.

  15. Please add the ability to enter payment details when posting invoices via Hubdoc.

    At the moment, if an invoice has already been paid (e.g. by cash or a personal card), I have to post it in Hubdoc and then go into Xero to add the payment manually. This is especially common for my café and restaurant clients who pay many invoices in cash, and it creates a lot of extra work.

    Being able to record the payment at the point of upload would save a huge amount of time.

  16. Ability to run an Aged Debtors Report of what debts clients owed us at a certain date in XPM. For example, we want to see what our clients owed us at 30/06/25, however the Standard Report (Aged Balance Report) can't be run to a certain date and if we create our own Report in Report Builder it removes clients from the report if they have paid since 01/07/25 and now owe nothing.   17. You are able to post a dividend with a date in a different year. I don't think it should let you type a date outside of the period. Until you click review it does not flag an error

  18. Any taxpayer can only have one ABN.
    Why does Xero leave P5 blank when it could put the ABN (which is already in the client record) into P5 for me?
    If you're worried about there sometimes being an ABN in the client record but there being no business that year and it needing to be blank.. then make it work the same as when I rollover from a prior period - last year's fields are rolled over but I can delete them if need be.

  20. When exporting invoices from XPM to Xero it should by default export the client name, address, email address and contact number.

    Currently it only exports the client name and postal address, and contact name, email and phone number (but only if that contact is NOT a client in XPM and only if you select that contact when preparing the invoice - forget the contact and you are back at square one.).

    Thanks for the comprehensive and exhaustive idea around how contact and client details could be included when invoices are synched from XPM to Xero blue. As you may know there is a new platform (PartnerHub) which you may be aware of, and will be released fully in the near future. You may find that the issue is covered in the new experience.
