How could Xero improve the homepage?

A tick-able task list (like Apple Notes) would be super helpful. Or even just a note space to leave messages/tasks for other users.

Would love to mark off the tasks, or make a note that its been looked at but waiting for x,y,z

Yes, we need a notepad widget on Xero!!! Just something very simple to keep a little to-do list or something.

Shared Notes & Communications Section on the Xero Homescreen

Add a Notes/Communications section to the Xero organisation homescreen where users can leave notes for other people who access the file.

Xero files are often used by multiple people, including business owners, admin staff, bookkeepers, accountants, business coaches and other advisors. Having a shared notes section would provide a simple way to communicate important information directly within the Xero file, rather than relying on emails, Teams messages or separate records.

Notes could be used for things such as:

Important client-specific accounting treatments
Tasks or reminders for other users
Information for the next person working on the file
Changes to how transactions should be processed including GST coding

Example:
“GST coding of insurance payouts is GST-free – please ensure these are coded accordingly.”

Ideally, notes would be visible to all authorised users from the homescreen, with the ability to add, edit and archive notes. This would create a centralised communication point and help ensure important information isn't lost between different people working on the same Xero file.

I'd like to see a widget that allows a note to be added to the homepage, it doesn't need to be complicated, just like a sticky note so clients and our team can see any bespoke needs for the account. It could be used for so many different things and be informal. A bit like the discuss box but as an overall discuss widget.

I need to be able to leave a note (like postit note) somewhere in the product to my accountant. They would be notified and be able to go exactly to the view I have a question/comment about and respond right there.

|We need chat between staff also, not only for advisors to business owners but between staff within a company. I have 7 staff that work within Xero and I need to be able to message them regarding outstanding tasks or if there are missing documents or issues.

This would be a great feature to also indicate that you have chased for an invoice under 'outstanding invoices' at the moment the only section that is visible is the expected payment date.

Yes, the ability to add comments and add tasks to other Xero users is critical and would streamline our accounting work. Please consider adding this.

Please add an internal messaging system. I constantly have to copy and paste or screenshot and it is incredibly frustrating.

By doing this, it will help to steamline our workflow and also allow follow ups after sending emails.

I have thought for a long time that it would be great to have a diary facility within Xero, it could then be a one stop shop for contractors who use the system.

The way I see it working is that when someone marks a quote as accepted, a screen could pop up to add it to the diary. All the information could be added to the appointment, i.e. address, work to be undertaken and cost. It could potentially also be that when clients accept the quote, they get to see a "busy/available" version of the diary whereby they just see when someone is busy / available and can select a provisionally date for the works to be undertaken.

When marking that appointment as complete, a screen could pop up to invoice it and the diary colour would change to show it has been invoiced and then change again once it has been paid.

You could then have a widget on the home page to show the projected earnings for the following weeks / months.

I currently do this all manually for my contractor clients but it would be great to have it all in one place and somewhat automated and client interactive.

I appreciate not every Xero client is a contractor, so maybe it could be an "add on" for those who provide that type of work.

It could also be taken a step further to allow "read only" users who could view the diary and work involved, but not the costs, to be used by sub-contractors who could in turn submit their invoices once they mark the job as complete their end.

Anyway just a thought, hope this is helpful.

I need a spot where I can post a note to myself. For example I just spent 10 minutes trying to find out how to upload bills a common task. Its Alt-shift-U, but I'm not going to remember that.

Add a 'notes' option to homepage. I'd love to set myself a little note on what I need to do when I log into a particular company.

I would absolutely love to see a widget where you can write a checklist for daily tasks. I'm forever writing things down and would benefit from having this available on the Dashboard homepage. One with checkboxes to tick when the task is done. The ability to break this down into daily and weekly sections would be even better!

This would be very helpful. Assignable notes to accountants and other users, and also option for individual users to make notes on homepage that aren't necessarily seen by other users of that organisation.

A "notes" widget would benefit our business. We have multiple unique client profiles, and multiple users who access each. The ability to see important reminders/information on the homepage would be beneficial.

I'd like to see a sticky note style of widget which would allow for the short reminders required for clients and staff when using the file.
